    The 2009 edition of the GEISA spectroscopic database

    The updated 2009 edition of the spectroscopic database GEISA (Gestionet Etudedes Informations Spectroscopiques Atmospheriques ; Management and Study of Atmospheric Spectroscopic Information) is described in this paper. GEISA is a computer-accessible system comprising three independent sub-databases devoted, respectively, to: line parameters, infrared and ultraviolet/visible absorption cross-sections, microphysical and optical properties of atmospheric aerosols. In this edition, 50 molecules are involved in the line parameters sub-database, including 111 isotopologues, for a total of 3,807,997 entries, in the spectral range from 10-6 to 35,877.031cm-1. GEISA, continuously developed and maintained at LMD (Laboratoirede Meteorologie Dynamique, France) since 1976, is implemented on the IPSL/CNRS(France) ‘‘Ether’’ Products and Services Centre WEB site (http://ether.ipsl.jussieu.fr), where all archived spectroscopic data can be handled through general and user friendly associated managements of software facilities. More than 350 researchers are registered for online use of GEISA

    International audienceWe have analyzed 10 room temperature spectra of the fundamental band of CO and CO-air using the Voigt, speed-dependent Voigt, speed-dependent Rautian line shape models. Line positions, intensities, air- and self-broadening coefficients, pressure induced air- and self-shift coefficients, and line-mixing parameters have been retrieved. The CO- and N2-broadened carbon monoxide half width coefficients have been calculated using a potential energy surface based on Tipping-Herman intermolecular interaction potential and taking the electrostatic interactions into account. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

    Genetic diversity and drug susceptibility profile of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolated from different regions of India

    International audienceObjectives:Molecular genotyping profiles of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) provide a valuable insight into the evolution and transmission of the bacilli. Due to the lack of comprehensive national level data from India on this subject, we performed this study to determine the recent trends and distribution of various MTB lineages circulating in India.Methods:A total of 628 MTB isolates were obtained from North, West, South, Central and Eastern India. Spoligotyping and drug susceptibility testing was performed by using manufacturer's instructions.Results:Spoligotyping detected 102 distinct spoligo-patterns. A total of 536 (85.3%) isolates were distributed into 85 SITs which matched the pre-existing database, whereas 17 SITs were newly created for 34 (5.4%) isolates. Overall, CAS family genotype was predominant, comprising 222 (35.4%) isolates, followed by EAI in 152 (24.2%), Beijing in 108 (17.2%), Manu in 41 (6.5%), T in 30 (4.8%), H in 6 (0.9%), X in 3 (0.5%) and one (0.2%) each in Ural and AFRI. Drug susceptibility testing identified 134 (21.3%) isolates as multi drug resistant (MDR).Conclusions:The CAS lineage had a pan India presence but EAI lineage was confined to southern parts of India. Beijing genotype of MTB was significantly associated (p-value <0.0001) with MDR

    Methane line parameters in HITRAN

    International audienceTwo editions of the methane line parameters (line positions, intensities and broadening coefficients) available from HITRAN in 2000 and 2001 are described. In both versions, the spectral interval covered was the same (from 0.01 to 6184.5 cm−1), but the database increased from 48,033 transitions in 2000 to 211,465 lines in 2001 because weaker transitions of 12CH4 and newbands of 13CH4 and CH3D were included. The newer list became available in 2001 in the “Update” section of HITRAN. The sources of information are described, and the prospects for future improvements are discussed
