    Peculiarities of implementation of the results of actors’ solving of political tasks

    A politics maker is any person who is somehow involved in it. It is the peculiarities of thinking of a political person (hereinafter will be referred to as actor) that our research is dedicated to. The effectiveness of political activity is determined by the way actor realizes the political situation and his own self in politics, how and which exactly political tasks he produces, is ready to solve and actually solves. When interpreting political thinking we are based on the systemic and strategic approach, namely on the following: (а) general psychological concepts related to thinking as psychical function and as an integral form of cognitive activity; (b) specific features of political consciousness and its functioning in different types of political activity and behavior; (c) peculiarities of political activity as a separate type of activity and political thinking as a special type of activity, intellectual activity in particular; d) the idea of a subject’s activity aimed at his overcoming of an uncertain situation (subjective and objective) in thinking activity.peer-reviewe

    Atomic surrounding of Co implanted in AlN at high energy

    AlN bulk ceramic has been implanted with energetic Co ions. In order to accurately characterise the atomic surrounding of the implanted ions, X-ray absorption measurements were carried out at 80 K in the fluorescence mode at the Co K edge in the as-implanted and annealed states. Simulation of the EXAFS oscillations allowed us to identify a first stage where Co is inserted in the AlN matrix followed by a second stage where Co precipitates form.Fil: Traverse, Agnès.     Identifying Structural Variation in Haploid Microbial Genomes from Short-Read Resequencing Data Using Breseq

    Mutations that alter chromosomal structure play critical roles in evolution and disease, including in the origin of new lifestyles and pathogenic traits in microbes. Large-scale rearrangements in genomes are often mediated by recombination events involving new or existing copies of mobile genetic elements, recently duplicated genes, or other repetitive sequences. Most current software programs for predicting structural variation from short-read DNA resequencing data are intended primarily for use on human genomes. They typically disregard information in reads mapping to repeat sequences, and significant post-processing and manual examination of their output is often required to rule out false-positive predictions and precisely describe mutational events. Results: We have implemented an algorithm for identifying structural variation from DNA resequencing data as part of the breseq computational pipeline for predicting mutations in haploid microbial genomes. Our method evaluates the support for new sequence junctions present in a clonal sample from split-read alignments to a reference genome, including matches to repeat sequences. Then, it uses a statistical model of read coverage evenness to accept or reject these predictions. Finally, breseq combines predictions of new junctions and deleted chromosomal regions to output biologically relevant descriptions of mutations and their effects on genes. We demonstrate the performance of breseq on simulated Escherichia coli genomes with deletions generating unique breakpoint sequences, new insertions of mobile genetic elements, and deletions mediated by mobile elements. Then, we reanalyze data from an E. coli K-12 mutation accumulation evolution experiment in which structural variation was not previously identified. Transposon insertions and large-scale chromosomal changes detected by breseq account for similar to 25% of spontaneous mutations in this strain. In all cases, we find that breseq is able to reliably predict structural variation with modest read-depth coverage of the reference genome (>40-fold). Conclusions: Using breseq to predict structural variation should be useful for studies of microbial epidemiology, experimental evolution, synthetic biology, and genetics when a reference genome for a closely related strain is available.     Software fault-tolerance by design diversity DEDIX: A tool for experiments

    The use of multiple versions of a computer program, independently designed from a common specification, to reduce the effects of an error is discussed. If these versions are designed by independent programming teams, it is expected that a fault in one version will not have the same behavior as any fault in the other versions. Since the errors in the output of the versions are different and uncorrelated, it is possible to run the versions concurrently, cross-check their results at prespecified points, and mask errors. A DEsign DIversity eXperiments (DEDIX) testbed was implemented to study the influence of common mode errors which can result in a failure of the entire system.     Elaboration and TEM structural study of interfaces in composites produced by precipitation

    Model ceramic matrix composites have been manufactured in a wide range of materials using the precipitation of a metal (Cu, Ni, Cr) in a ceramic matrix (nitride AIN or oxides MgO, Al2O3) providing, in each case low energy configurations at the heterophase interfaces. In connection to microelectronic applications, copper metallic particles precipitate in AIN after implantation by copper ions and anneal of the ceramic matrix. Faceted particles are imaged by HRTEM and are associated to a low energy structural and chemical configuration. Internal reduction experiments have been carried out on (Mg,Ni)O, (Mg,Cu)O and (Al,Cr)2O3 mixed oxides; the morphology, chemical composition and orientation relationship of the different precipitates are obtained through TEM observations and discussed in terms of interfacial energy and precipitate growth mechanism and kinetics.     Comparative performance of airyscan and structured illumination superresolution microscopy in the study of the surface texture and 3D shape of pollen

    The visualization of taxonomically diagnostic features of individual pollen grains can be a challenge for many ecologically and phylogenetically important pollen types. The resolution of traditional optical microscopy is limited by the diffraction of light (250 nm), while high resolution tools such as electron microscopy are limited by laborious preparation and imaging workflows. Airyscan confocal superresolution and structured illumination superresolution (SR-SIM) microscopy are powerful new tools for the study of nanoscale pollen morphology and three-dimensional structure that can overcome these basic limitations. This study demonstrates their utility in capturing morphological details below the diffraction limit of light. Using three distinct pollen morphotypes (Croton hirtus, Dactylis glomerata, and Helianthus sp.) and contrast-enhancing fluorescent staining, we were able to assess the effectiveness of the Airyscan and SR-SIM. We further demonstrate that these new superresolution methods can be easily applied to the study of fossil pollen material

    Ion implantation simultaneously produces compositional changes and radiation damage in the target. If the latter is not annealed, amorphization should ultimately result. Can implantation of a covalent solute into a transition metal host stabilize the damage and hence produce an amorphous alloy at lower concentrations than other techniques ? We have studied the composition-dependence of the resistivity and TCR of thin (600-800 Å) Pd films implanted at 6 K with Si ions : The results are compared to those obtained on the corresponding well-documented quench-condensed alloys, which are amorphous at Si concentrations ~.18. The resistivity of the implanted films saturates at about 90 µΩ·cm for Si concentrations above ~.18. Thus, the critical concentration for amorphization is presumably the same for the low-temperature implanted or quench-condensed Pd-Si alloy, confirming that local structure effects dominate amorphous alloy formation criteria. In a further experiment, hydrogen was implanted into the amorphous Pd-Si films (again at 6K). The resistivity increased sharply, doubling at H concentrations around 100 %. The resulting systems were superconducting ; their maximum critical temperature was 2.6 K

    Palynomorphs of brackish and marine species in cores from the freshwater Lake Sapanca, NW Turkey

    Lake Sapanca, which is located on the Sakarya–Sapanca–İzmit corridor in NW Turkey, is a freshwater lake with numerous fish farms in its catchment. Palynological analyses including non-pollen palynomorphs of a short (38.5 cm) and a longer sediment core (586 cm), taken in the centre of the lake and dated in previous investigations, revealed the presence of brackish and marine palynomorphs. The longer sediment sequence shows the occurrence of Brigantedinium sp., Impagidinium caspienense and Spiniferites cruciformis from the base of the core at c. AD 580 years up to 300 cm depth at shortly after c. AD 910. A similar assemblage, but this time with the additional presence of dinoflagellate thecae and the acritarch, Radiosperma corbiferum, was found in the recent core, especially from AD 1986 until the present. Past connections between the Gulf of İzmit and the Black Sea, via the River Sakarya and Lake Sapanca, could be the origin of these two microfossil assemblages. Accidental re-introduction via fish translocation since the Roman times may have been a additional mechanism. The consequences of the survival of brackish and marine forms in a freshwater lake are discussed in terms of wider euryhalinity than has been suggested for those still poorly known organisms
