Study of the IEEE Standard 1619.1: Authenticated Encryption with Length Expansion for Storage Devices
This Thesis will analyze the standard 1619.1 published by the IEEE. The aim of this standard is to provide authenticated encryption to stored data with AES algorithm working in XTS mode. XTS-AES is a 128-bit block cipher characterized by the use of two AES encryptions with two different keys of the same size, tweak values to add uncertainty to cipher data, (2128) Galois fields and The Ciphertext Stealing technique for data units not perfectly divisible into 128-bit blocks. There is no unanimous agreement about the profits of this standard so various aspects such as the use of two different keys, implementation in other areas or the support of the storage industry will be a source of controversy. Some commercial software and hardware that implement XTS-AES encryption mode will be presented and used to test and analyze the security properties presented by the standard IEEE 1619.1. Keywords. AES, XTS, Tweak values, Ciphertext Stealing, XTS-AES Comments
temporalThe aim of this paper is to account for the use of the perfect and imperfect
tenses within a particular narrative episode: the siege of Sagunt by Livius.
Taking as a starting point the differenciation between temporal grounds and informative grounds, we claim here that the perfect tense in this episode always
works as a temporal foregrounded tense, but does not always transmit
informative foregrounded content. Qn the other hand, the imperfect tense is
used both to configurate of the temporal background and to transmit foregroundeded
content. Besides, the latter in combination with a certain type of
lexical features of the verb and certain particles can even work as a temporal
foregrounded tens
Verbos y argumentos: las combinaciones sintáctico-semánticas del verbo latino cogo
En este trabajo se analizan las combinaciones de argumentos
posibles con el verbo cogo. Su semántica
se organiza en tres ámbitos, ‘reunir(se)’ —cogo 1—;
‘obligar’ —cogo 2—; y ‘recaudar — extorsionar’
within the verb cogo ‘to force’. They are organized
in three semantic domains, the one of gathering-put
together —cogo 1—; the one of forcing —cogo 2—;
and the one of collecting — extorting (money) —
cogo 3—. These domains yield several Predicate
Frames. Some of the combinations are explained
from verb lexical features (cogo 1x and cogo 2),
but other ones seem to be rather collocations (‘to
gather olives’, ‘to collect money’). Syntax of cogo
has a transitive frame with an argument of Direction
(cogo 1), projected as an event (Infinitive) in
cogo 2. Syntax of cogo 3 reflects an alternative
conceptualization of the force dinamics. Conceptual
relationship among PFs is articulated from the
facet of ‘coaction’ and completed by the one of ‘resistence
oposition’; this combination sets the verb
in a clear sphere of causativit
