A One-Week Laboratory Practice: Introducing the Students to the Study of Plant Biochemistry and Signal Transduction

This report describes a one-week laboratory practice for students. An approach to study a Calcium dependent protein kinase (CDPK) involved in signal transduction processes in potato plants, is undertaken. A number of basic biochemical techniques including the partial purification of a protein kinase, protein kinase activity assays, protein determination, SDS-PAGE analysis of phosphorylated proteins and Western blot assays are described.Fil: Ulloa, Rita Maria. Ligand synthesis catalyst and complex metal ion: multicomponent synthesis of 1,3-bis(4-phenyl-[1,2,3]triazol-1-yl)-propan-2-ol copper(i) complex and application in copper-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition

A new bistriazole copper complex was synthesized by direct treatment of an alkyne, an azide, and CuI as copper salt through in situ ligand formation under a multicomponent reaction process. This complex was analyzed by XPS, TGA, DSC, and SEM techniques and revealed a triangular-shapedmorphology, high thermal stability, and catalytic power in CuAAC reactions, requiring only 2.5% mol catalyst to afford 1,2,3-triazoles in good yields which can be reused at least for 4 cyclesCONACYT, proyecto 13505

Narrativas del profesorado universitario en sexualidad e igualdad

La educación en sexualidad e igualdad es considerada un ámbito de investigación y formación complejo, aunque de necesario abordaje en los contextos educativos universitarios dedicados a la formación del profesorado. En este artículo presentamos los resultados cualitativos de una investigación llevada a cabo en la Universidad de Castilla-la Mancha (UCLM, España) en la que, por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas y técnica Delphi a un total de 32 profesionales, hemos trabajado con el método biográfico-narrativo sobre las concepciones y competencias en sexualidad e igualdad del profesorado implicado en la formación inicial docente, para valorar cómo estas afectan a las tareas curriculares e investigadoras. Los resultados evidencian una serie de frenos y oportunidades institucionales en esta materia. Como conclusión, destacamos la necesidad de impulsar y fortalecer la implicación institucional para que desaparezcan, o se aminoren, las limitaciones identificadas.Education in sexuality and equality is considered as a complex research and training environment, but mandatory in university research educational contexts dedicated to teacher training. In this paper we present the main results of a qualitative research carried out at the University of Castilla la Mancha (Spain) in which, through semi-structured interviews and Delphi technique to 32 professionals, the biographical-narrative method has allowed to work on the conceptions in sexuality and equality of the teaching staff. The goal is to analyze how the issues on sexuality and the principle of equality have an impact on their curriculum and their research field. The results show institutional curbs and opportunities in this field. In conclusion, it is recommendable to boost and to strengthen the institutional involvement to eradicate, or to reduce, identified limitations

Narrativas de resistencia de las mujeres saharauis desde las pedagogías feministas y decoloniales

In a context of constant conflict and refuge, the Saharawi people have much to contribute from their personal and collective experiences of struggle and resistance and, in particular, the Saharawi women as leaders, organizers and supporters of life in this context traversed by multiple forms of violence. This article has a double objective, on the one hand, to collect and analyze the narratives of Saharawi women who carry out tasks of social, political and educational organization in the camps to extract pedagogical knowledge from decolonial feminisms; and on the other, attribute better critical educational skills to initial teacher training. A biographical-narrative research method is applied in a discursive format based on 12 semi-structured interviews that collect life experiences in the context of the wilaya and in a situation of exile-refuge. For the analysis, four categories have been proposed that have guided the interview protocols: memory and political experience of the conflict; collective role of women as sustainers of life; collective culture of resistance to conflict; and elements of decolonial feminist pedagogy. The extracted results revolve around the strategies that Saharawi women have in the face of the conflict situation, as highlighted: the construction of their own spaces where the public and private are transcended, the work of political organization together with the maintenance of life ; the construction of a cultural and political identity of decolonial resistance; the importance of community and traditional education in intergenerational female spaces; the need to have transnational support networks and to design transformative resistance strategies with a projection to the future. These elements are discussed from the contributions of feminist, decolonial and intersectional pedagogies as an epistemic and action framework for a more critical and committed initial teacher training.En un contexto de constante conflicto y refugio el pueblo saharaui tiene mucho que aportar desde las vivencias personales y colectivas de lucha y resistencia y, en particular, las mujeres saharauis como lideresas, organizadoras y sostenedoras de vida en este contexto atravesado por múltiples violencias. Este artículo tiene un doble objetivo, por un lado, recoger y analizar las narrativas de las mujeres saharauis que realizan tareas de organización social, política y educativa en los campamentos para extraer conocimiento pedagógico desde los feminismos decoloniales; y por otro, atribuir a la formación inicial docente mejores competencias educativas críticas. Se aplica el método de investigación biográfico-narrativo en formato discursivo a partir de 12 entrevistas semi-estructuradas que recogen experiencias de vida en el contexto de la wilaya y en situación de exilio- refugio. Para el análisis se han propuesto cuatro categorías que han guiado los protocolos de entrevistas: memoria y vivencia política del conflicto; rol colectivo de las mujeres como sostenedoras de vida; cultura colectiva de resistencia frente al conflicto; y elementos de la pedagogía feminista decolonial. Los resultados extraídos giran en torno a las estrategias que las mujeres saharauis tienen frente a la situación de conflicto, así se destaca: la construcción de espacios propios donde se trasciende lo público y lo privado, las labores de organización política junto al sostenimiento de la vida; la construcción de una identidad cultural y política de resistencia decolonial; la importancia de la educación comunitaria y tradicional en los espacios femeninos intergeneracionales; la necesidad de contar con redes transnacionales de apoyo y de diseñar estrategias de resistencia transformadoras con  proyección a futuro. Estos elementos se discuten desde los aportes de las pedagogías feministas, decoloniales e interseccionales como marco epistémico y de acción para una formación inicial docente más crítica y comprometida

Se confeccionó un Modelo de Historia Clínica de Endodoncia con el objetivo de fortalecer la aplicación del método clínico por parte de los estudiantes de Tercer Año de Operatoria Dental I, en aquellos pacientes que requieren de este tipo de tratamiento. A su vez se elaboró un documento instructivo para facilitar el manejo y llenado del modelo por parte de los estudiantes. Preparación y caracterización de quantum dots de grafeno (GQDs) a partir de grafito

En este proyecto se presenta el estudio de un método para la obtención de quantum dots de grafeno (GQDs) a partir de polvo de grafito, aplicando para ello el método de Hummers con algunas modificaciones. Para facilitar la aplicación de grafeno en nanodispositivos y para modular eficientemente el intervalo de banda, una estrategia prometedora es convertir las hojas de grafeno bidimensionales en puntos cuánticos cero-dimensionales, (GQDs del inglés Graphene quantum dots). Los GQDS son puntos cuánticos de grafeno cero-dimensionales. Estudios teóricos y experimentales han indicado que además de sus propiedades de transporte únicas, el confinamiento cuántico y el efecto frontera podrían resultar en fenómenos y propiedades de alto interés. se han estudiado distintas condiciones de producción y operación y se han caracterizado los GQDs mediante técnicas de microscopia, difracción de rayos X y diversas técnicas espectroscópicas

Racism: A Teenagers\u27 Perspective Results of Preliminary Research from Madrid, Spain

In mid-June, 2005, the members of the INTER Center received a collaboration proposal from FETE-UGT8, with the objective of carrying out a brief exploratory study on the perceptions and experiences that young people and adolescents, mainly immigrants, have concerning possible experiences of discrimination and racism in their immediate surroundings. The initial objectives of the project were expanded due to the dynamics of the project itself. New focuses of attention and social, educational and personal dynamics, which can condition to a certain extent the experiences that immigrant adolescents undergo, were detected. The project initially consisted of a series of interviews with adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age. A total of 20 interviews were carried out, some of them group interviews. We consider this project focus, although positive, to be limited, and we think that it would have been necessary to broaden the sample and consider other people in the young people’s social and family environment (family members, friends, classmates, professors, all of them of different origins, including the host country)
