This report takes the case of the time management in classrooms of a public secondary school of Uruguay as a result of a Fulbright teacher exchange scholarship, after having observed different educational centers in the state of Illinois, in the United States. A bibliographic review of three aspects was carried out: background information on the discussions that the Uruguayan educational system has presented about time aspects, characteristics of a didactic sequence, and research on classroom time management. An anonymous questionnaire was applied to the teachers of the institution, classroom observations were made and qualified informants were interviewed. Through this study, some temporal aspects that occur in the classes were identified to be discussed with the teachers involved. The main findings were that a high percentage of teachers expect students to work at certain pre-established times and some external actions are carried out to make this happen, but those that involve students in the process of self-management of time are not developed. It was also noted the absence of clocks in the classrooms of the institution.

Fatal lymphosarcoma (LS) occurs in 5% of infected animals. The genetic basis of these diverse outcomes of BLV infection is still unknown. Viral LTRs constitute a genetic determinant of pathogenesis for other retroviruses. However, this possibility has never been tested for BLV. Analyses to test correlation between clinical and genotypic traits across species must be corrected by including the group phylogeny. Otherwise, shared evolutionary history can jeopardize statistical independence. Thus, the influence of BLV LTR genetic variation on the clinical manifestation of the disease was investigated by employing Cladistic and Probabilistic, phylogenetic comparative methods. With this purpose, the 5´LTR region of 40 BLV proviruses from bovines with different clinical presentations (AL, PL, LS) was sequenced. Seven polymorphic positions showing an apparent association with the clinical presentation were identified. A provirus phylogeny was obtained using env gene sequences from 28 of the 40 provirus studied in this work. Both Cladistic and Probabilistic comparative analyses based on the empirical sequence alignment and the provirus phylogeny suggested that positions 41 and 56 might be correlated to the clinical presentation. The probabilistic analysis further indicated an association with the viral pathogenesis for positions 373, 450, 494 and 505, though the corresponding statistical supports were lower in comparison to the supports obtained for positions 41 and 56. These observations indicate that the BLV LTRs might contain pathogenicity determinants

Parametric Optimization of the GMAW Welding Process in Thin Thickness of Austenitic Stainless Steel by Taguchi Method

[EN], In the present work, an analysis of different welding parameters was carried out on the welding of stainless-steel thin thickness tubes by the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process. The influence of three main parameters, welding voltage, movement angle, and welding current in the quality of the welds, was studied through a specifically designed experimental process based on the establishment of three different levels of values for each of these parameters. Weld quality is evaluated using destructive testing (macrographic analysis). Specifically, the width and root penetration of the weld bead were measured; however, some samples have been disregarded due to welding defects outside the permissible range or caused by excessive melting of the base metals. Data are interpreted, discussed, and analyzed using the Taguchi method and ANOVA analysis. From the analysis of variance, it was possible to identify the most influential parameter, the welding voltage, with a contribution of 43.55% for the welding penetration and 75.26% for the bead width, which should be considered in the designs of automatic welding processes to improve the quality of final welds.S

Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade da Coruña/CISUG[Abstract] The purpose of this paper is twofold. We first provide the mathematical analysis of a dynamic contact problem in thermoelasticity, when the contact is governed by a normal damped response function and the constitutive thermoelastic law is given by the Duhamel-Neumann relation. Under suitable hypotheses on data and using a Faedo-Galerkin strategy, we show the existence and uniqueness of solution for this problem. Then, we study the particular case when the deformable body is, in fact, a shell and use asymptotic analysis to study the convergence to a 2D limit problem when the thickness tends to zero. This project has received funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No 823731 CONMECH and grant MTM2016-78718-P by Ministerio de Economía Industria y Competitividad of Spain with the participation of FEDE

MRGBP, a member of the NuA4 complex, inhibits DNA double-strand break repair

The repair of DNA breaks takes place in the context of chromatin and thus involves the activity of chromatin remodelers. The nucleosome acetyltransferase of H4 (NuA4) remodeler complex enables DNA break repair by relaxing flanking chromatin. Here, we show that MRG domain binding protein (MRGBP), a member of this complex, acts as a general inhibitor of DNA double-strand break repair. Upon its downregulation, repair is generally increased. This is particularly evident for the stimulation of early events of homologous recombination. Thus, MRGBP has an opposing role to the main catalytic subunits of the NuA4 complex. Our data suggest that MRGBP acts by limiting the activity of this complex in DNA repair, specifically by narrowing the extent of DNA-end resection.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad SAF2016-74855-
