    The objective of this research is to be able to determine the employability in students of the Central University of Ecuador, Faculty of Administrative Sciences face-to-face modality in comparison with the distance modality, in order to strengthen the importance of the different study methods, through the application of the quantitative method for analysis of results, an exploratory field investigation with a random sample, that is, all members of the population have the same possibil-ity of being selected for the study applied to the population that has been considered the students of the modality to distance from the Central University of Ecuador, in the period 2017; Employability is one of the most important factors for a student during their academic period, that is why those who must adapt to these conditions are the students, after the analysis of these variables, it could be obtained as a conclusion that the employability of the students from the Central University of Ecuador of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, if it depends on the modality in which they are, this by the sum of several factors that make them able to achieve or even keep their jobs during the course of their studies.La presente investigación tiene como objetivo determinar la empleabilidad en los estudiantes de la Universidad Central del Ecuador (UCE), Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas modalidad presencial en comparación con la modalidad a distancia, a fin de fortalecer la importancia de los diferentes métodos de estudio, mediante la aplicación del método cuantitativo para análisis de resultados; una investigación exploratoria de campo con una muestra aleatoria, es decir, todos los integrantes de la población tienen la misma posibilidad de ser seleccionados para el estudio aplicado sobre la población considerada para los estudiantes de la modalidad a distancia de la Universidad Central del Ecuador, en el período 2017. La empleabilidad es uno de los factores con mayor importancia para un estudiante durante su período académico, es por eso que quienes se deben acoplar a estas condiciones son los estudiantes, después del análisis de estas variables, se pudo obtener como conclusión que la empleabilidad de los estudiantes de la UCE de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas, sí depende de la modalidad en la que se encuen-tren, esto debido a la suma de varios factores que hacen que puedan lograr o incluso mantener sus empleos en el transcurso de sus estudios

    In this work, creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) leaves and pomegranate (Punica granatum) peels were characterized for their use as a source of antioxidants and a support in solid-state fermentation. This work focuses on the kinetic evaluation of physicochemical changes during the fungal fermentation of two tannin-rich plant materials, mainly on the polyphenolic content. Aspergillus niger GH1 was used in the fermentation processes, the cultures were monitored for 96 h. The content of proteins, crude fibres, lipids, reducing and total sugars was evaluated following the AOAC methods. Tannins were analyzed using a spectrophometric method. Biodegradation of ellagitannins was monitored kinetically and the accumulation of gallic and ellagic acids was determined by HPLC. Results demonstrated that pomegranate peel and creosote bush leaves are excellent supports for solid-state fermentation and sources of antioxidants.U radu je istražena mogućnost primjene lišća grma Larrea tridentata i kore šipka (Punica granatum) kao sirovina za dodatak čvrstim podlogama te proizvodnju antioksidanasa. U središtu je istraživanja kinetička procjena fizikalno-kemijskih promjena tih taninima bogatih sirovina, ističući promjenu udjela polifenolnih spojeva tijekom procesa. Za proces je upotrijebljen soj plijesni Aspergillus niger GH1, koji je praćen tijekom 96 sati. Određen je udio proteina, sirovih vlakana, lipida, te ukupnih i reducirajućih šećera standardnim AOAC metodama, a udio i sastav tanina ispitani su Folin-Ciocalteau metodom. Kinetički je praćena biodegradacija elagitanina, a nakupljanje galne i elagične kiseline utvrđeno je HPLC metodom. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su da su kora šipka i lišće grma Larrea tridentata izvrsne sirovine za čvrste podloge i dobar izvor antioksidanasa

    Role of NAFLD on the Health Related QoL Response to Lifestyle in Patients With Metabolic Syndrome: The PREDIMED Plus Cohort

    ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) status in the impact of lifestyle over Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS). MethodsBaseline and 1 year follow up data from the PREDIMED-plus cohort (men and women, 55-75 years old with overweight/obesity and MetS) were studied. Adherence to an energy-restricted Mediterranean Diet (er-MeDiet) and Physical Activity (PA) were assessed with a validated screeners. Hepatic steatosis index (HSI) was implemented to evaluate NAFLD while the SF-36 questionnaire provided HRQoL evaluation. Statistical analyses were performed to evaluate the influence of baseline NAFLD on HRQoL as affected by lifestyle during 1 year of follow up. ResultsData from 5205 patients with mean age of 65 years and a 48% of female participants. Adjusted linear multivariate mixed regression models showed that patients with lower probability of NAFLD (HSI < 36 points) were more responsive to er-MeDiet (beta 0.64 vs beta 0.05 per er-MeDiet adherence point, p< 0.01) and PA (beta 0.05 vs beta 0.01 per MET-h/week, p = 0.001) than those with high probability for NAFLD in terms Physical SF-36 summary in the 1 year follow up. 10 points of er-MeDiet adherence and 50 MET-h/week were thresholds for a beneficial effect of lifestyle on HRQoL physical domain in patients with lower probability of NAFLD. ConclusionThe evaluation of NAFLD by the HSI index in patients with MetS might identify subjects with different prospective sensitivity to lifestyle changes in terms of physical HRQoL (http://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN89898870)
