Eficacia del diclofenaco tópico vs. nepafenaco tópico en la reducción del dolor durante la fotocoagulación panretiniana
ResumenPropósitoComparar la eficacia del diclofenaco tópico 0.1% vs. nepafenaco tópico en reducir el dolor asociado a la fotocoagulación panretiniana con láser argón.Material y métodosEnsayo clínico aleatorizado doble enmascarado, 132 pacientes (183 ojos) con diagnóstico de retinopatía diabética proliferativa tratados con fotocoagulación panretiniana. Aleatorización en 2 grupos: diclofenaco y nepafenaco tópicos. Se aplicaron 2 dosis de los analgésicos tópicos previas a la fotocoagulación panretiniana, se evaluó el dolor inmediatamente y 15min después. Se analizó nivel de dolor, efectos adversos y síntomas asociados al finalizar la fotocoagulación retiniana.ResultadosLa mediana de la edad para ambos grupos fue de 55 años, relación H:M de 1:1.4. El nivel de dolor inmediato fue de 35.5 (RIC 14-72) para el nepafenaco y de 45 (RIC 14-70) para el diclofenaco (p=0.48). A los 15min fue de 30 (RIC 4-50) para el nepafenaco y de 20 (RIC 2-50) para el diclofenaco (p=0.48). No hubo diferencias significativas en síntomas asociados entre los grupos ni efectos adversos en la superficie ocular.ConclusionesEl tratamiento previo con nepafenaco y diclofenaco tópicos es igualmente eficaz y seguro para reducir el dolor asociado a la fotocoagulación panretiniana en pacientes con retinopatía diabética proliferativa.AbstractPurposeTo compare the efficacy of topical diclofenac 0.1% vs topical nepafenac in reducing pain associated to argon laser retinal photocoagulationMaterial and methodsDouble blinded, randomized clinical trial. One hundred thirty two patients with diagnosis of proliferative diabetic retinopathy treated with retinal photocoagulation. Randomization in to 2 groups: topical diclofenac and nepafenac. Before retinal photocoagulation 2 doses of topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were applied, pain was assessed immediately and 15minutes after. Level of pain, adverse effects and associated symptoms at the end of retinal photocoagulation were analyzed.ResultsThe median for age in both groups was 55 years, M:F ratio of 1:1.4. The immediate level of pain was 35.5 (ICR 14-72) for nepafenac and 45 (ICR 14-70) for diclofenac (P=.48). At 15minutes the pain level was 30 (ICR 4-50) for nepafenac and 20 (ICR 2-50) for diclofenac. There was no difference in associated symptoms or adverse effects among groups.ConclusionsThe preventive treatment with topical nepafenac and diclofenac is equally effective and safe for reducing the pain associated with retinal photocoagulation in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Public Administration of Zoos in the Sustainable Development Goal
Within the framework of the effects of climate change, the public administration of zoos is a scenario to observe the relationship between sustainability and Human Development. Based on the analysis of risks and vulnerabilities, the management of recreational centers makes its visitors aware of the importance of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The objective of this work was to establish the network of perceptions around the public administration of species in captivity and for investigative or cultural purposes. Exploratory, correlational and cross-sectional work was carried out with a sample of 100 professional practitioners and social servants from centers of the captivity of endangered species. The results show that the dimensions of public administration were associated with SDGs 1, 5, 7, 12 and 15 related to the end of poverty, gender equality, affordable and clean energy, responsible production and consumption, and life in terrestrial ecosystems. Phase transition systematics in BiVO4 by means of high-pressure-high-temperature Raman experiments
"We report here high-pressure-high-temperature Raman experiments performed on BiVO4. We characterized the fergusonite and scheelite phases (powder and single crystal samples) and the zircon polymorph (nanopowder). The experimental results are supported by ab initio calculations, which, in addition, provide the vibrational patterns. The temperature and pressure behavior of the fergusonite lattice modes reflects the distortions associated with the ferroelastic instability. The linear coefficients of the zircon phase are in sharp contrast to the behavior observed in the fergusonite phase. The boundary of the fergusonite-to-scheelite second-order phase transition is given by TF-Sch (K) = -166(8)P(GPa) + 528(5). The zircon-to-scheelite, irreversible, first-order phase transition takes place at T-Z-(Sch )(K) = -107(8)P(GPa) + 690(10). We found evidence of additional structural changes around 15.7 GPa, which in the downstroke were found to be not reversible. We analyzed the anharmonic contribution to the wave-number shift in fergusonite using an order parameter. The introduction of a critical temperature depending both on temperature and pressure allows for a description of the results of all the experiments in a unified way.
Animal welfare during transport and slaughter of beef cattle
Objective: To review the way transport and stun cattle affect animal welfare.
Approach: During the transport of cattle to slaughter plants, many factors affect animal welfare, such as travel time, stress and load density. Besides, stunning might comply with animal welfare guidelines, which different protocols such as Welfare Quality® establish.Objective: To review how transport and stunning of cattle affect animal welfare.
Approach: During the transport of beef cattle to slaughter plants, several factors affect animal welfare, such as travel time, stress, and load density. Additionally, the correct stunning of cattle helps comply with the animal welfare guidelines established by different protocols such as Welfare Quality®.
Study limitations/Implications: Meat quality is affected by several factors, being of utmost importance the way animals are transported to the slaughterhouse, and they are stunned. Therefore, it is critical to perform these stages properly to obtain good quality meat; besides, it is a welfare issue.
Conclusions: It is critical to comply with transport and slaughter procedures that guarantee good beef meat quality and ensure animal welfare to avoid stress in cattle as possible

índice el dispositivo identificará las etapas de
madurez de la uva. Esto se hará de forma automática
utilizando medidas de reflectancia en determinadas
longitudes de onda del infrarrojo cercano. Tras la
calibración del dispositivo, la medida se realiza de
manera puntual sobre la superficie del fruto, que es
colocado en el interior del sistema.

Evaluación del efecto del Pectimorf en el establecimiento in vitro de yemas axilares de boniato clon CEMSA 78-354
With the purpose of studying the effect of different Pectimorf dose in the establishment and budding of axillary buds of sweet potato starting from buds, tuberous roots belonging to the clone CEMSA 78-354 were collected and placed in flasks with water in the laboratory under semicontrolled conditions to induce the sprouting of the buds. Later on, axillary buds of the buds of the tubers (establishment) and axillary buds coming from in vitro plants (multiplication)were selected as sowing material (explants), which were sowed in the Murashige and Skoog culture medium containing the MS salts, thiamin (1 mg.l-1), myoinositol (100 mg.l-1), sucrose (3%), gelryte (2 g.l-1), giberelic acid (10.0 mg.l-1) and indol-3-acetic acid (0.05 mg.l-1) and the already mentioned culture medium without the previously refered regulators of the growth with different Pectimorf concentration: 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 mg.l-1. The morphological behavior of the in vitro plantas was evaluated to the five, fifteen and thirty days after established the buds under in vitro conditions , and different variables related with the in vitro growth of the buds were analyzed, among which we have: number of sprouted buds, height of the in vitro plants (cm), number, longitude and width of the leaves, buds with roots, longitude of the roots (cm) and longitude of the petiole (cm). The best results were obtained when using the axillary buds coming from budding of tuberous roots in comparison with the axillary buds of the in vitro plants and with the use of the culture medium containing 10.0 mg.l-1 of Pectimorf.Key works: Ipomoea batatas, micropropagation, oligogalacturonidesCon la finalidad de estudiar el efecto de diferentes concentraciones de Pectimorf en el establecimiento in vitro de yemas axilares de boniato, fueron recolectadas raíces tuberosas pertenecientes al clon CEMSA 78-354 y se colocaron en frascos con agua en el laboratorio en condiciones semicontroladas para inducir la brotación de las yemas. Posteriormente, se seleccionaron como explantes para la siembra las yemas axilares de los brotes de los tubérculos (establecimiento) y yemas axilares procedentes de plantas in vitro (multiplicación), las cuales fueron sembradas en el medio de cultivo propuesto por Murashige y Skoog que contenía las sales MS, tiamina (1 mg.l-1), mioinositol (100 mg.l-1), sacarosa (3%), gelrite (2 g.l-1), ácido gibérelico (10.0 mg.l-1) y ácido indol-3-acético (0.05 mg.l-1) y este mismo medio de cultivo sin los reguladores del crecimiento antes mencionados, con diferentes concentraciones de Pectimorf: 5.0, 10.0 y 15.0 mg.l-1. Se evaluó el comportamiento morfológico de las plantas in vitro a los cinco, quince y treinta días después de establecidas las yemas en condiciones in vitro y se analizaron diferentes variables relacionadas con el crecimiento in vitro de las yemas: número de yemas brotadas, altura de las plantas in vitro (cm), número, longitud y ancho del limbo foliar (cm), número de yemas con raíces, longitud de las raíces (cm) y longitud de los peciolos (cm). Se obtuvieron los mejores resultados al emplear las yemas axilares procedentes de los brotes de raíces tuberosas en comparación con las yemas axilares de las plantas in vitro y con el empleo del medio de cultivo que contenía 10.0 mg.l-1 de Pectimorf.Palabras clave: Ipomoea batatas, micropropagación, oligogalacturónido
A genome-wide association study follow-up suggests a possible role for PPARG in systemic sclerosis susceptibility
Introduction:
A recent genome-wide association study (GWAS) comprising a French cohort of systemic sclerosis (SSc) reported several non-HLA single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) showing a nominal association in the discovery phase. We aimed to identify previously overlooked susceptibility variants by using a follow-up strategy.<p></p>
Methods:
Sixty-six non-HLA SNPs showing a P value <10-4 in the discovery phase of the French SSc GWAS were analyzed in the first step of this study, performing a meta-analysis that combined data from the two published SSc GWASs. A total of 2,921 SSc patients and 6,963 healthy controls were included in this first phase. Two SNPs, PPARG rs310746 and CHRNA9 rs6832151, were selected for genotyping in the replication cohort (1,068 SSc patients and 6,762 healthy controls) based on the results of the first step. Genotyping was performed by using TaqMan SNP genotyping assays.
Results:
We observed nominal associations for both PPARG rs310746 (PMH = 1.90 × 10-6, OR, 1.28) and CHRNA9 rs6832151 (PMH = 4.30 × 10-6, OR, 1.17) genetic variants with SSc in the first step of our study. In the replication phase, we observed a trend of association for PPARG rs310746 (P value = 0.066; OR, 1.17). The combined overall Mantel-Haenszel meta-analysis of all the cohorts included in the present study revealed that PPARG rs310746 remained associated with SSc with a nominal non-genome-wide significant P value (PMH = 5.00 × 10-7; OR, 1.25). No evidence of association was observed for CHRNA9 rs6832151 either in the replication phase or in the overall pooled analysis.<p></p>
Conclusion:
Our results suggest a role of PPARG gene in the development of SSc
