Poetics in Translation: Make It New by Ezra Pound and Transcreation by Haroldo de Campos

    Get PDF
The aim of this work is to present how translation became a poetics for the American poet Ezra Pound and the Brazilian Poet Haroldo de Campos. Both poets employed translation to expand their understandings about poetry but, at the same time, to create a new approach to the literary phenomenon by bringing together works of authors from many different geographies, epochs and languages. Pound started to write poetry following the rhythm of the Anglo-Saxon and then he took a different direction producing books with comments on his translations like Provençal troubadours and Chinese poetry. He spent almost 25 years translating the entire work of Confucius and after that period he published his last translations of Greek and Egyptian poems. Haroldo was an admirer of Pound and he shared his translation passion. He founded the Avant-garde movement of Concrete Poetry in Brazil and he did collective translations with the members of the movement. His specialization in languages prompted him to translate Avant-garde poetry from many different languages and then he moved to the classics like Dante, Goethe, Homer and the Bible. De Campos benefited from his academic position to obtain specialized advising for his translations. Furthermore, he elaborated a theory on translation following philosophical texts, that he called “transcreation.” He was convinced that the best poetry in all times is essentially Avant-garde

[EN]Spain is the European country with the highest water deficit, something that generates a serious social concern. Water reuse is one of the alternatives that may help to solve this problem. Thus, it is necessary to recognize the contamination associated to this water to evaluate its environmental impact and risk for human health. Therefore, the development of several analytical methodologies based on chromatography/mass spectrometry are proposed to analyze priority (regulated by European normative) and emerging (unregulated, but suspected of being harmful to living beings) and their further application to evaluate the contamination of surface and waste water.Tesis Univ. Eggs are sources of high nutritious value; however, their intake is associated with hypercholesterolemia in consumers. Stevia rebaudiana, among other properties, has a hypoglycemic and hypocholesterolemic effect in humans, rats and broilers chicken. The objectives of this research were to determine the effect of the inclusion of 0, 1, 2 and 3% of Stevia rebaudiana leaves powder in the diet on the lipid profile and productive parameters of Isa Brown hens. One hundred, 17 - 24 week old, Isa Brown laying hens were used and distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five repetitions. The increase in the levels of powder from Stevia leaves decreased the cholesterol profile (p < 0.05), without changing other profiles and the productive parameters (p > 0.05). Additionally, the triglyceride profile and weight gain showed quadratic and negative linear tendencies, respectively associated with the increase of powder from Stevia leaves in the diet. It is concluded that the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, final weight and total weight gain of Isa Brown laying hens has a tendency to decrease when the levels of powder from Stevia leaves is increased in the diet

Apuntes al marco crono-cultural del arte levantino: Neolítico vs neolitización

    Get PDF

In this work one presents the study realized to the compound materials: a) Zn77.0-Al22.0-Ag1.0 (wt. %) [Ternary Alloy], b) Zn77.0-Al22.0-Ag-1.0 (wt. %) [Compound Material 1] reinforced with 5 % of NaCl, and c) Al77.0-Zn22.0-Ag1.0 (wt. %)/Si [compound Material 2], the materials were incorporated by means of the alloyed mechanic in a time of grinding of 7 hours. The microstructural characterization was realized by means of: a) Diffraction of beams-X (DRX), b) Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM) and c) Microhardness Vickers (HV). The aim of this work was to study the effect of the microstructure and the hardness of a materials composed bases zinc and his comparison with a ternary alloy. Materials were obtained nanostructure by sizes of crystal in the ternary alloy of 94nm, and for the compound materials 1 and 2, 116 and 121 nm respectively. The values of hardness obtained for three systems have direct relation with the size of crystal. The image obtained to SEM at 7 hours of grinding suggests that the ternary alloy presents in the morphology bigger agglomerated particles and the compound material 2 particles small flakes. The results suggest that porous materials were obtained in three studied systems. Keywords: Mechanical alloy, Metallurgy of powders, Nanocomposite, Reinforcement with particles

Currently, the growing interest in the use of biomass as a renewable and sustainable raw material for the production of energy, chemicals and biofuels is driving the development of new catalytic processes and technologies for its conversion. In this context, the transformation of lignocellulosic biomass can lead to a variety of platform chemicals, with a broad spectrum of applications. Sorbitol is one of the useful biomass-derived chemicals that is obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of glucose, which subsequent dehydration and intramolecular cyclization in acid medium gives rise to the formation of isosorbide. This is a high value-added chemical widely used as intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry, additive polymers such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and production of biodegradable polymers. Mineral acids such as sulphuric and hydrochloric acids have efficient catalytic properties for dehydration of sorbitol. However, the well-known drawbacks associated to homogeneous catalysis have promoted the studies of heterogeneous catalytic processes. Thus, solid acid catalysts such as zeolites, tetravalent metal phosphates and sulfated copper oxide have been reported as alternative solid catalysts. Nevertheless, sometimes, drastic experimental conditions are required to reach a high catalytic activity. In the present work, different commercial zeolites, in their protonic form, have been evaluated as acid solid catalysts for sorbitol dehydration, and several experimental variables have been optimizedUniversidad de Málaga.
