Transgender and nonbinary (TNB) people, more than ever, are in need of and actively seeking out services in order to cope with the reality of being transgender in the United States. This includes requiring assistance from local and federal governmental systems that do not provide protections for equal housing, workplace discrimination, and healthcare provisions, much less hate crime investigation and prosecution. In 2011, 75% of transgender people were or had been in therapy in the past, with a further 14% intending to participate in therapy in the future. Recently, the newly elected President Joseph Biden issued an executive order (EO) within his first 100 days in office. The EO was a directive for all federal agencies to review their practices to ensure that they are not discriminatory in nature toward gender-diverse individuals. . Additionally, the Biden administration empowered the Department of Defense to do a similar review of their practices and conclude that trans individuals should be allowed to serve in the military to create a stronger, inclusive service (Department of Defense, 2021). These, along with other policies, including the protections of Title IX protecting trans athletes and students, are some of the significant positive changes by the current administration. TNB people experience discrimination in many ways, which calls for a review of the instruments psychologists use to differentiate the proper treatment clients. Using the research of risk factors and specific information needed for treatment planning with TNB individuals, the intake interview created an inclusive and efficient experience for the transgender clients and the clinicians administering the intake

L925I mutation in the Para-type sodium channel is associated with pyrethroid resistance in Triatoma infestans from the Gran Chaco region

Background: Chagas' disease is an important public health concern in Latin America. Despite intensive vector control efforts using pyrethroid insecticides, the elimination of Triatoma infestans has failed in the Gran Chaco, an ecoregion that extends over Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil. The voltage-gated sodium channel is the target site of pyrethroid insecticides. Point mutations in domain II region of the channel have been implicated in pyrethroid resistance of several insect species. Methods and Findings: In the present paper, we identify L925I, a new pyrethroid resistance-conferring mutation in T. infestans. This mutation has been found only in hemipterans. In T. infestans, L925I mutation occurs in a resistant population from the Gran Chaco region and is associated with inefficiency in the control campaigns. We also describe a method to detect L925I mutation in individuals from the field. Conclusions and Significance: The findings have important implications in the implementation of strategies for resistance management and in the rational design of campaigns for the control of Chagas' disease transmission.Fil: Capriotti, Natalia. The positive side of a negative reference: the delay between linguistic processing and common ground

Interlocutors converge on names to refer to entities. For example, a speaker might refer to a novel looking object as the jellyfish and, once identified, the listener will too. The hypothesized mechanism behind such referential precedents is a subject of debate. The common ground view claims that listeners register the object as well as the identity of the speaker who coined the label. The linguistic view claims that, once established, precedents are treated by listeners like any other linguistic unit, i.e. without needing to keep track of the speaker. To test predictions from each account, we used visual-world eyetracking, which allows observations in real time, during a standard referential communication task. Participants had to select objects based on instructions from two speakers. In the critical condition, listeners sought an object with a negative reference such as not the jellyfish. We aimed to determine the extent to which listeners rely on the linguistic input, common ground or both. We found that initial interpretations were based on linguistic processing only and that common ground considerations do emerge but only after 1000 ms. Our findings support the idea that-at least temporally-linguistic processing can be isolated from common ground

Yungas Manakin (Chiroxiphia Boliviana), a new species in Argentina

En Argentina, la única especie del género Chiroxiphia registrada hasta la fecha es el Bailarín Azul (Chiroxiphia caudata), presente en las provincias de Misiones y Corrientes. En este trabajo se reporta el primer registro para Argentina del Bailarín Yungueño (Chiroxiphia boliviana) en base a la captura de un individuo juvenil y grabaciones de cantos de cuatro individuos en la finca Pintascayo, departamento Iruya, provincia de Salta. Con este registro se extiende el rango de distribución de esta especie desde el departamento Chuquisaca en el sudeste de Bolivia aproximadamente 350 km hacia el sur.Currently, the only species of the genus Chiroxiphia recorded for Argentina is the Blue Manakin (Chiroxiphia caudata) in Misiones and Corrientes provinces. In this study, the first record of Yungas Manakin (Chiroxiphia boliviana) in Argentina is reported based on a juvenile captured and the sound recordings of four individuals in Finca Pintascayo, Iruya Department, Salta Province. Estas teorizaciones del feminismo son indispensables para pensar problemáticas como la situación de las mujeres en la guerra, la objetivación del cuerpo de las mujeres o la dominación masculina; sin embargo, también dan pie para pensar otras realidades, realidades de la vida cotidiana en donde estas estructuras de la diferencia entre los sexos se ponen en marcha, pero que en muchos casos se pasan por alto en medio de la rutina diaria de la ciudad, ya que están cumpliendo un papel natural en el cual simplemente se incorpora esta práctica. Este es el caso del transporte público masivo, en el cual la necesidad de movilizar a la mayor cantidad de personas, hace que estén diseñados para que en ellos puedan apretarse y aglomerarse los cuerpos de muchos extraños en un espacio limitado de tránsito, lugar en el que muchas personas de esta ciudad deben pasar un tiempo bastante significativo de su día para poder llegar a sus lugares de trabajo o de estudio, espacio donde los cuerpos entran en relación y donde cada quien debe asumirse de cierta manera para po- der “sobrevivir” al viaje, lugar que está atravesado por el género y por la evidencia de señales dirigidas a determinados cuerpos con ciertas condiciones que suponen un uso específico, para cuerpos específicos

Desempeño reproductivo de cerdas primerizas suplementadas con riboflavina durante la gestación

To evaluate the effects on litter size and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and of uteroferrln, crossbreed gilts (n = 24) were supplemented with 0 or 60 mg dally of riboflavin during gestation. Litter size and average weight of piglets were determined at birth and at weaning. Samples of placenta were collected at farrowing to determine the relative expression of VEGF and uteroferrln. Supplemented and not supplemented gilts had 11.2 ± 0.6 and 8.2 ± 0.6 of total piglets born, respectively (P < 0.004). There were also corresponding increases In piglets born alive with 10.5 ± 0.6 versus 8.1 ± 0.6 (P< 0.01) and In total piglets weaned by the gilts supplemented with riboflavin (9.41 ± 0.6 and 7.5 ± 0.6, P < 0.05). A difference between treatments was found for total litter weight at birth, but not at weaning. Relative expression of VEGF was greater (P < 0.07) In the placenta of gilts supplemented with riboflavin than In those not supplemented, but no differences between treatments were observed In the relative expression of uteroferrln. The present results demonstrate that dally supplementation with 60 mg of riboflavin to gilts during gestation may Increase litter size, perhaps by Improving vascularization of the placenta, thus enhancing embryo/fetus survival.Para evaluar los efectos en el tamaño de lechigada y la expresión del factor de crecimiento endotelial vascular (VEGF; por sus siglas en inglés) y de la uteroferrlna, cerdas primerizas cruzadas (n = 24) se suplementaron con 0 o 60 mg de riboflavina diariamente durante toda la gestación. El tamaño de la lechigada y el peso individual de las crías se determinó al nacer y al destete. Se colectaron muestras de placenta al momento del parto para determinar la expresión relativa del VEGF y de la uteroferrina. Las cerdas suplementadas y no suplementadas parieron 11.2 ± 0.6 y 8.2 ± 0.6 cerditos totales, respectivamente (P < 0.004). Hubo diferencias análogas en el número de cerditos nacidos vivos de 10.5 ± 0.6 contra 8.1 ± 0.6 (P < 0.01) y en el número total de cerditos destetados (9.41 ± 0.6 y 7.5 ± 0.6, P < 0.05). Se encontró diferencia entre los tratamientos para el peso total de la lechigada al nacer pero no al destete. La expresión relativa del VEGF fue mayor (P < 0.07) en la placenta de cerdas suplementadas con riboflavina que en las controles, pero los tratamientos no difirieron en la expresión relativa de la uteroferrina. Los resultados presentes indican que la suplementación con 60 mg diarios de riboflavina a cerdas primerizas durante la gestación puede incrementar el tamaño de la lechigada, quizás mediado por una mejor vascularización de la placenta y por consiguiente mejorando la supervivencia del embrión/feto

Una de las opciones que se tiene es la compra de un nuevo espacio o construcción de un nuevo nivel, esta decisión debe ir sustentada teniendo en cuenta diversas variables de costos de terreno, planeación, estudios y rentabilidad esperada, en muchas ocasiones dicha opción demanda grandes esfuerzos y tiempo, por lo que el almacenamiento automatizado ha tomado mayor fuerza. Cuando en los centros de distribución se usan tecnologías automáticas haciendo que el almacén se comporte como una gran máquina que ejecuta órdenes del sistema de información con poca asistencia del recurso humano, se puede decir que se tiene un almacén automático. Un almacén automático facilita la búsqueda del recurso necesario en la operación, reduciendo esfuerzo del personal y tiempo de producción, minimizan los espacios requeridos para almacenar y permite adicionar cambios en pro de la mejora continua..

Documentación del modelo de gestión para micro y pequeñas empresas NTC-6001 en la empresa Bienes y Finanzas Servicios Integrales S.A.S en Armenia, Quindío

El presente trabajo aborda la documentación del sistema de gestión de calidad para la empresa Bienes y Finanzas servicios integrales S.A.S ubicada en la ciudad de Armenia. El proceso de elaboración de la documentación se inició con el diagnóstico para determinar la capacidad de respuesta al sistema de gestión basado en la NTC 6001 modelo de gestión para micro empresas y pequeñas empresas; el cuál fue realizado por la asesora de la Alcaldía de Armenia, Luz Adriana Linares encargada de supervisar el “proyecto de fortalecimiento empresarial ICONTEC norma NTC 6001-2008”1 promovido por la Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico, fomento al desarrollo empresarial en la ciudad de Armenia; a partir de dicho diagnóstico la investigadoras realizaron el análisis que evidenció la necesidad de implementar dicha norma e iniciaron la gestión documental. En el proyecto a nivel estratégico, se realizó una mejora a la misión, visión y se estableció la política, los objetivos de calidad, el cronograma de estrategias organizacionales, el mapa de procesos y la matriz de requisitos legales y reglamentarios con el fin de garantizar el adecuado direccionamiento de cada uno de los miembros de la empresa.This project approach the documentation of the quality management system for Bienes y finanzas servicios integrales S.A.S comprehensive services located in the city of Armenia.
