Photoprocesses in protoplanetary disks

Circumstellar disks are exposed to intense ultraviolet radiation from the young star. In the inner disks, the UV radiation can be enhanced by more than seven orders of magnitude compared with the average interstellar field, resulting in a physical and chemical structure that resembles that of a dense photon-dominated region (PDR). This intense UV field affects the chemistry, the vertical structure of the disk, and the gas temperature, especially in the surface layers of the disk. The parameters which make disks different from traditional PDRs are discussed, including the shape of the UV radiation field, grain growth, the absence of PAHs, the gas/dust ratio and the presence of inner holes. New photorates for selected species, including simple ions, are presented. Also, a summary of available cross sections at Lyman alpha 1216 A is made. Rates are computed for radiation fields with color temperatures ranging from 4000 to 30,000 K, and can be applied to a wide variety of astrophysical regions including exo-planetary atmospheres. Imobilização da lacase de Oudemansiella canarii: parâmetros cinéticos e reúso.

Neste trabalho, uma lacase de Oudemansiella canarii foi imobilizada pela técnica de agregados de enzimas reticuladas (CLEA). A imobilização foi eficiente com um rendimento de imobilização de 95% e retenção de atividade de 66,7%.Publicado no Anais Eletrônico da Galoá Proceddings

Degradação e detoxificação do corante azul brilhante de Remazol R pela lacase de Oudemansiella canarii.

Neste trabalho, uma lacase de Oudemansiella canarii foi utilizada na degradação do corante azul brilhante de remazol R (RBBR). Análise por FTIR permitiu concluir que a lacase atuou não apenas no grupo cromóforo do corante, mas em toda a estrutura do corante, causando uma fragmentação efetiva da molécula. A ação da lacase causou uma redução significativa na toxicidade, conforme indicado pelo teste Microtox. Em conclusão, a lacase de O. canarii pode ser útil em futuras estratégias biológicas visando a degradação de corantes azo.Publicado no Anais Eletrônico da Galoá Proceddings

Feasibility Study of Short Takeoff and Landing Urban Air Mobility Vehicles Using Geometric Programming

Electric Short Takeoff and Landing (eSTOL) vehicles are proposed as a path towards implementing an Urban Air Mobility (UAM) network that reduces critical vehicle certification risks and offers advantages in vehicle performance compared to the widely proposed Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. An overview is given of the system constraints and key enabling technologies that must be incorporated into the design of the vehicle. The tradeoffs between vehicle performance and runway length are investigated using geometric programming, a robust optimization framework. Runway lengths as short as 100-300 ft are shown to be feasible, depending on the level of technology and the desired cruise speed. The tradeoffs between runway length and the potential to build new infrastructure in urban centers are investigated using Boston as a representative case study. The placement of some runways up to 600ft is shown to be possible in the urban center, with a significant increase in the number of potential locations for runways shorter than 300ft. Key challenges and risks to implementation are discussed

A problem-based learning experience with undergraduate marketing students

O presente artigo descreve a implementação da metodologia de aprendizagem baseada em problemas (ABP) no âmbito da unidade curricular de Publicidade e Relações Públicas, do 2.º ano da licenciatura em Marketing. A ABP é considerada uma abordagem global que tem sido reconhecida pelos académicos. Os resultados mostraram que a metodologia ABP tem resultados similares entre diferentes grupos. Todos os grupos de alunos estavam fortemente motivados, à exceção de um grupo que não demonstrou essas evidências por não ter a assiduidade suficiente para aproveitar o acompanhamento do professor. Em geral, todos os alunos puderam melhorar a colaboração entre os seus pares, bem como capacidades de comunicação. Demonstraram também evidências de uma postura ativa e de um trabalho autónomo. A inovação e a criatividade foram evidentes nos resultados finais. Em conclusão, a abordagem ABP pode influenciar os alunos de uma forma positiva.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
