Marbella is a tourist destination that offers the largest number of luxury home rentals whose study is based on the so-called collaborative economy, which includes the Airbnb platform as the most used channel. Airbnb Luxe and Luxury Retreats launches exclusively to the Luxe housing offer. This research analyzes the case of the luxury offer in Marbella on this platform, as well as a bibliographical review on luxury in tourism and a qualitative research of 13 interviews on the supply side, both with homeowners and real estate agents focused on in the luxury segment in Marbella. The main results offer relevant conclusions, as characteristic are the visible and non-visible aspects that make a home luxury, the need to carry out a study on the luxury segment that does not currently exist to determine what it is and what it is not. luxury, among other things, and that the city of Marbella is one of the main luxury vacation spots in Spain. Despite the subjectivity of the term luxury, this research proposes several possible definitions adaptable to the type of accommodation most in demand in Marbella, the large and luxurious villas.Universidad de Málaga. Efficient preparation of TMSCCl2Br and its use in dichlorocyclopropanation of electron deficient alkenes

    Get PDF
The reaction of excess TMSCl and LiCCl2Br at low temperature is a technically simple high yield route to TMSCCl2Br. The latter is a stable source of the dichlorobromomethide carbanion, which undergoes 1,4-addition with cyclic nitroalkenes and (E)-fumarates leading to dichlorocyclopropanes after bromide explusion. For nitrostyrenes the reaction arrests at the 1,4-addition product. Low temperature NMR studies and DFT calculations suggest the formation of an ‘ate’ species [(nitronate)SiFMe3]- which, upon boil off of TMSF at 10 - 20 °C, yields the cyclopropane. DFT calculations also support the experimental differences between fluoride and acetate as promotors

    Get PDF
Developing age-friendly programmes and services focused in Seniors’ Mental Fitness are relevant actions oriented to elder well-being. This paper explores the purposes and methodologies of such implemented programmes and services in Austria and Spain nowadays. The research investigates them in relation to the several aims, namely: 1. What kind of programmes exist which promote active ageing in the light of maintaining and improving mental fitness? 2. What goals are pursued by means of such actions? 3. What methodologies are normally used in them? 4. In which way can they be improved in the light of the previous aims? Using a qualitative case-study design, a representative sample of these actions are analysed by Atlas.ti software from an inductive approach. A constructivist grounded theory approach was used to analyse the data. The information was collected by templates designed ad hoc. Additionally, structured in-depth interviews were held with outstanding providers from some of these actions in order to complement the general information obtained in the former step. These interviews explore aspects of the positive and negative features, as well as improvement proposals for such actions. The results obtained can be applied in the framework of the progress of such programmes and services implementation.

    Get PDF
Background and aims: A variant (p.Arg225Trp) of peroxisomal acyl-CoA oxidase 2 (ACOX2), involved in bile acid (BA) side-chain shortening, has been associated with unexplained persistent hypertransaminasemia and accumulation of C27-BAs, mainly 3?,7?,12?-trihydroxy-5?-cholestanoic acid (THCA). We aimed to investigate the prevalence of ACOX2 deficiency-associated hypertransaminasemia (ADAH), its response to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), elucidate its pathophysiological mechanism and identify other inborn errors that could cause this alteration. Methods and results: Among 33 patients with unexplained hypertransaminasemia from 11 hospitals and 13 of their relatives, seven individuals with abnormally high C27-BA levels (>50% of total BAs) were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The p.Arg225Trp variant was found in homozygosity (exon amplification/sequencing) in two patients and three family members. Two additional nonrelated patients were heterozygous carriers of different alleles: c.673C>T (p.Arg225Trp) and c.456_459del (p.Thr154fs). In patients with ADAH, impaired liver expression of ACOX2, but not ACOX3, was found (immunohistochemistry). Treatment with UDCA normalized aminotransferase levels. Incubation of HuH-7 hepatoma cells with THCA, which was efficiently taken up, but not through BA transporters, increased reactive oxygen species production (flow cytometry), endoplasmic reticulum stress biomarkers (GRP78, CHOP, and XBP1-S/XBP1-U ratio), and BAX? expression (reverse transcription followed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunoblot), whereas cell viability was decreased (tetrazolium salt-based cell viability test). THCA-induced cell toxicity was higher than that of major C24-BAs and was not prevented by UDCA. Fourteen predicted ACOX2 variants were generated (site-directed mutagenesis) and expressed in HuH-7 cells. Functional tests to determine their ability to metabolize THCA identified six with the potential to cause ADAH. Conclusions: Dysfunctional ACOX2 has been found in several patients with unexplained hypertransaminasemia. This condition can be accurately identified by a noninvasive diagnostic strategy based on plasma BA profiling and ACOX2 sequencing. Moreover, UDCA treatment can efficiently attenuate liver damage in these patients.Funding information: This study was supported by the following grants: CIBERehd (EHD15PI05/2016); Fondo de Investigaciones Sanitarias, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain (PI19/00819 and PI20/00189), co-funded by European Regional Development Fund/European Social Fund, “Investing in your future”; “Junta de Castilla y León” (SA074P20); Fundació Marato TV3 (201916–31); AECC Scientific Foundation (2017/2020), Spain; and “Centro Internacional sobre el Envejecimiento” (OLD-HEPAMARKER, 0348_CIE_6_E), Spain. Late gadolinium enhancement distribution patterns in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy: Genotype-phenotype correlation.

    Get PDF
AIMS Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is frequently found in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), there is little information about its frequency and distribution pattern according to underlying genetic substrate. We sought to describe LGE patterns according to genotype and to analyze the risk of major ventricular arrhythmias (MVA) according to patterns. METHODS AND RESULTS Cardiac magnetic resonance findings and LGE distribution according to genetics was performed in a cohort of 600 DCM patients followed at 20 Spanish centers. After exclusion of individuals with multiple causative gene variants or with variants in infrequent DCM-causing genes, 577 patients (34% females, mean age 53.5 years, LVEF 36.9 ± 13.9%) conformed the final cohort. A causative genetic variant was identified in 219 (38%) patients and 147 (25.5%) had LGE. Significant differences were found comparing LGE patterns between genes (P < 0.001). LGE was absent or rare in patients with variants in TNNT2, RBM20 and MYH7 (0%, 5% and 20%, respectively). Patients with variants in DMD, DSP and FLNC showed predominance of LGE subepicardial pattern (50%, 41% and 18%, respectively) whereas patients with variants in TTN, BAG3, LMNA and MYBPC3 showed unspecific LGE patterns. Genetic yield differed according to LGE pattern. Patients with subepicardial, lineal midwall, transmural, right ventricular insertion points or with combination of LGE patterns showed increased risk of MVA compared with patients without LGE. CONCLUSION LGE patterns in DCM has a specific distribution according to the affected gene. Certain LGE patterns are associated with increased risk of MVA and with increased yield of genetic testing. This study has been funded by Instituto Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) through the projects ‘PI18/0004, PI19/01283, and PI20/0320’ (co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund/European Social Fund ‘A way to make Europe’/‘Investing in your future’).
