Optimization of thrombolytic therapy in brain pathology

Ischemic stroke is the leading cause of disability in the developed countries. The only approved drug treatment is the recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA). However, its use is limited due to the short half-life side effects. In this study we have developed rtPA-loaded nanocapsules combined with ultrasound application, which we used as trigger to induce rtPA from our nanocapsules. These nanocapsules were also able to extend the half-life of rtPA after in vivo administration and reach the ischemic region. Overall, we have developed promising nanocapsules for the triggered release of rtPA in the brain with potential application in ischemic stroke

The Aesthetics of exuberance of Daniel Lezama

Este texto reflexiona sobre la representación del cuerpo femenino en la obra del pintor figurativo Daniel Lezama (Ciudad de México, 1968). Propongo el término estética de la exuberancia a partir del concepto empleado por Katya Mandoki, en el cual el exceso o la exuberancia se convierte en una manifestación estética, para referirme a la propuesta de plasmar en un lienzo esa complexión robusta que en estos tiempos se relaciona con el sobrepeso frente a una cultura visual contemporánea en México en la que predominan mujeres esbeltas o extremamente delgadas, pieles restiradas o cuerpos invadidos por silicona. El objetivo del artículo es abordar las características de la estética de la exuberancia en Lezama a partir del análisis iconográfico del desnudo femenino en algunos de sus cuadros.This text reflects on the representation of the female body in the work of the figurative painter Daniel Lezama (Mexico City, 1968). I propose the term Aesthetics of exuberance, from the concept used by Katya Mandoki, in which the excess or exuberance becomes an aesthetic manifestation, to refer to the proposal to capture in a painting that robust build in these times is related to overweight at a time when contemporary visual culture in Mexico is invaded with images of slender or extremely thin women stretched skins or bodies invaded by silicone. Ecology of the non-native snail Sinotaia cf quadrata (Caenogastropoda: Viviparidae). A study in a lowland stream of South America with different water qualities

Sinotaia quadrata is a snail native from Asia recorded for the first time in South America in 2009 in central Argentina. In 2015, this species was also found in a lowland stream with different water qualities. Our aims were to contribute to the knowledge of its population ecology and to compare the individuals from the two locations anatomically. Snails were searched at 6 sites, where physicochemical and hydraulic parameters were measured. Biological samples were also taken at two sites (S3 and S4) to study the population traits of S. cf quadrata (density, size structure, fecundity and sex ratio) and to assess the water quality through macroinvertebrates' biological indices (richness, diversity and IBPamp). Physicochemical and biological parameters allowed us classifying sites as "moderately polluted" (S3) and "heavily polluted" (S4). At S4, the population showed a lower density, larger individuals, higher fecundity and a scarce representation of young snails. The differences observed in the radula and mantle border of snails from the two geographical regions might be attributed to environmental differences. We conclude that this species is tolerant to a wide range of environmental variables which, along with its high fecundity and morphological plasticity, could allow this species to colonize neighbor streams.Fil: Ferreira, Ana Clara. Tres perspectivas diferentes, un solo caso: la fobia social entendida a través del modelo médico psiquiátrico, el modelo cognitivo conductual y el modelo constructivista

Social phobia is defined as a persistent fear over situations that involve the possibility of being evaluated for other persons. This kind of anxiety can be understood by different perspectives. The present paper shows three different approaches to explain and treat the social anxiety: the medical-psychiatric model, the cognitive-behavioral model and the constructivist model. The case of a 30 years old woman that started therapy with the object to reduce the anxiety that she feels when she is giving public speeches, it is explained from each of the models presented before. Also it is proposed the treatment for the specific case by each model. Actually, the case was treated by the constructivist approach. The narrative analysis for the first and last session shows that the constructivist psychotherapy has produced changes about the way of how patient experiments and gives significance to his anxiety.La fobia social se define como un miedo persistente frente a situaciones que involucran la posible evaluación por parte de otras personas. Este tipo de ansiedad puede ser entendida desde diferentes perspectivas. El presente trabajo muestra tres enfoques diferentes para explicar y tratar la ansiedad social: el modelo médico psiquiátrico, el modelo cognitivo-conductual y el modelo constructivista. Alrededor de cada uno estos modelos terapéuticos se explica el caso de una mujer de 30 años de edad que acude a terapia con la demanda de reducir la ansiedad que experimenta al hablar en público. Además se muestra como cada modelo propondría el tratamiento para este caso. Finalmente, se presenta el proceso terapéutico del caso a través de la terapia constructivista. El análisis de la narrativa de la primera y la última sesión muestran que la terapia constructivista produjo algunos cambios en la manera en que la paciente experimenta y otorga significado a su ansiedad

Análisis del comportamiento de los jóvenes al contribuir a un bien público

La teoría de juegos es una herramienta muy importante en economía. Ayuda a entender las acciones y el comportamiento de los individuos ante situaciones cotidianas. Aplicando modelos clásicos de la teoría de juegos no cooperativos, se ha realizado un experimento con el fin de analizar el comportamiento de los jóvenes ante el dilema de la contribución a un bien público. Aunque la muestra obtenida ha sido pequeña, se ha llegado a conclusiones muy interesantes. Los jóvenes que menos aportan en un dilema social se ven más influidos por aquellos que más aportan que a la inversa. Así, los primeros incrementan sus aportaciones en la repetición del experimento y los segundos las reducen (aunque en menor cuantía)Game of theory is a very important subject in economics. It helps to understand the actions and behavior of individuals in everyday life situations. Applying classical models of non-cooperative game theory an experiment has been carried out in order to verify the behavior of young people facing the dilemma of public good contributions. Although for a not too large sample, very interesting conclusions have been reached. The young people who contribute the least in a social dilemma are more inclined to imitate those who contribute the most, rather than the reverse. Thus, after repeating the experiment the former increase their contributions and the latter reduce theirs (although to a lesser extent).Grado en Marketing e Investigación de Mercado

Empatía, inteligencia emocional y violencia en la relación de pareja en jóvenes de Lima Metropolitana, 2022

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre las variables empatía, inteligencia emocional y violencia en la relación de pareja en jóvenes de Lima Metropolitana. Se usó el tipo de investigación correlacional descriptivo y el diseño no experimental, de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 296 participantes jóvenes de 18 a 35 años de edad; los instrumentos empleados fueron, Violencia en la Relación de Pareja en Jóvenes (E.V.R.P.J) creada en Perú por Bejarano y Vega (2014), cuestionario Empatía de Toronto (TEQ) validado y traducido por Muñoz y Valenzuela (2016), y cuestionario Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) adaptado por Fernández-Berrocal, Extremera y Ramos (2004). Los resultados dan cuenta de una relación negativa, significativa y de intensidad fuerte entre violencia en la relación de pareja y empatía en los jóvenes de Lima Metropolitana (Rho = -.538; p < .001); además de la asociación positiva, significativa y de intensidad moderada entre inteligencia emocional y empatía (Rho = .362; p < .001); sin embargo, la relación entre violencia en la relación de pareja e inteligencia emocional fue nula (Rho = -.06; p = .300). El 46,3% de los participantes del estudio tuvo alta violencia en su relación de pareja; el 43,2% tuvo nivel alto de empatía y solo un 13,9% tuvo nivel alto de inteligencia emociona

Exportación de guano de murciélago como abono orgánico al mercado español durante el periodo 2009-2013

La presente investigación propone profundizar la comprensión de la evolución de las exportaciones de Guano de murciélago como abono orgánico recolectado en el Perú para el mercado español durante el periodo 2009-2013. Los indicadores a utilizar serán el volumen de exportación, el valor de exportación y el precio de exportación del producto ya mencionado. Al respecto, se utilizó un diseño no experimental, ya que se estudió el volumen de exportación, el valor de exportación y el precio de exportación del guano de murciélago como abono orgánico. Se consideró como mercado objetivo a España, ya que es un país potencial, el cual requiere de nuestro producto para el cultivo de orquídeas, necesita enriquecer sus tierras, ya que sin ellas no se podrá tener ningún fruto

Chemical and Sensory Characterization of Nine Spanish Monovarietal Olive Oils: An Emphasis on Wax Esters

Olive oil is an essential part of the so-called “Mediterranean diet”, purportedly one of the healthiest gastronomic traditions in the world. The wax content in olive oil is regulated under European Union directives, and it is used as a purity parameter for extra-virgin and virgin olive oils. The wax profile may also help the characterization of monovarietal olive oils. In this study, monovarietal oils were extracted from the fruits of nine native Spanish olive varieties (‘Arbequina’, ‘Argudell’, ‘Empeltre’, ‘Farga’, ‘Manzanilla’, ‘Marfil’, ‘Morrut’, ‘Picual’ and ‘Sevillenca’), and their chemical and sensory attributes were determined. Total wax content in oil was cultivar-dependent and ranged widely between 26 (‘Manzanilla’) and 144 mg kg−1 (‘Arbequina’), while it was negligible in ‘Picual’ oil. The wax ester fraction was comprised largely of phytol-containing diterpene esters, with phytyl vaccinate and phytyl arachidate being the most common components of this non-polar fraction in all nine olive oils assessed. Selection of macrophytes by a generalist invertebrate herbivore and potential impacts for stream rehabilitation

Macrophytes play an important role as resource for herbivores. When they are introduced into streams by, rehabilitation projects herbivores might be attracted to this new food source. Thus, it is important to know the palatability of macrophytes, especially when high densities of herbivores with a high relative consumption rate (RCR) are present. Plant traits influencing herbivory could be an indicator for macrophyte selection in rehabilitation projects. In the laboratory, we assessed the RCR and preference of Pomacea canaliculata for Ludwigia peploides, Gymnocoronis spilanthoides, and Egeria densa, and linked it to plant chemical and structural traits. We also analysed the use of these macrophytes by the snail in plants transplanted into a recently dredged stream. The macrophyte beds transplanted were the only plants present in the stream. Plants and snails were sampled and snail egg masses quantified. In the laboratory, the RCR of E. densa was significantly lower than that of the other species, and the snails did not show any preference among macrophytes. The only trait related to palatability was dry matter content. The abundance of snails in transplanted beds was higher in E. densa and G. spilanthoides, and lower on L. peploides despite its highest coverage. The abundance of egg masses was the highest on G. spilanthoides. This indicates that Pomacea canaliculata exhibited active selection and differential use of transplanted macrophytes. In conclusion, L. peploides would be less affected by a generalist invertebrate herbivore and a suitable option to transplant into stream channels for rehabilitation projects.Fil: Paz, Laura Estefania.
