What's the best drug treatment for premature ejaculation?

    Get PDF
Antidepressants--specifically clomipramine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, and sertraline--are best and have been shown to improve symptoms of premature ejaculation (strength of recommendation [SOR]: A, meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials [RCTs]). The topical application of prilocaine-lidocaine cream (trade name EMLA) improves intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT), but penile numbness and loss of erection may occur (SOR: B, based on several small RCTs)

It is present the results of a palynological analysis of two species of the genus Bombus in vicinity of Pamplonita-Norte of Santander. On feces samples were identified and counted (april and may of 2010) 1585 grains of pollen, within which Solanaceae, Asteraceae, Malvaceae and Fabaceae were the more abundat taxa. With regard to the diversity, April was the most rich, diverse and dominant month; however in B. pullatus we observed greater wealth and dominance. Finally, it was possible to determine that a large percentage of pollen grains that were identified as Solanaceae correspond to Solanum quitoense. The results of this study make clear the importance of palynology at the time of establishing the diet of these species, in addition to reflect its role of those species as possible provider in ecosistemic services either in wild plant as a crops in Solanaceae case.

Weak charge form factor and radius of 208Pb through parity violation in electron scattering

We use distorted wave electron scattering calculations to extract the weak charge form factor F_W(q), the weak charge radius R_W, and the point neutron radius R_n, of 208Pb from the PREX parity violating asymmetry measurement. The form factor is the Fourier transform of the weak charge density at the average momentum transfer q=0.475 fm−1^{-1}. We find F_W(q) =0.204 \pm 0.028 (exp) \pm 0.001 (model). We use the Helm model to infer the weak radius from F_W(q). We find R_W= 5.826 \pm 0.181 (exp) \pm 0.027 (model) fm. Here the exp error includes PREX statistical and systematic errors, while the model error describes the uncertainty in R_W from uncertainties in the surface thickness \sigma of the weak charge density. The weak radius is larger than the charge radius, implying a "weak charge skin" where the surface region is relatively enriched in weak charges compared to (electromagnetic) charges. We extract the point neutron radius R_n=5.751 \pm 0.175 (exp) \pm 0.026 (model) \pm 0.005 (strange) fm$, from R_W. Here there is only a very small error (strange) from possible strange quark contributions. We find R_n to be slightly smaller than R_W because of the nucleon's size. Finally, we find a neutron skin thickness of R_n-R_p=0.302\pm 0.175 (exp) \pm 0.026 (model) \pm 0.005 (strange) fm, where R_p is the point proton radius.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure, published in Phys Rev. Leishmaniasis is a chronic disease caused by protozoa of the distinct Leishmania genus transmitted by sandflies of the genus Phlebotomus (old world) and Lutzomyia (new world). Among the molecular factors that contribute to the virulence and pathogenesis of Leishmania are metalloproteases, e.g., glycoprotein 63 (gp63), also known as leishmanolysin or major surface protease (MSP). This protease is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease that is found on the surface of the parasite, abundant in Leishmania promastigote and amastigote. This study describes the prediction of three-dimensional (3D) structures of leishmanolysin (UniProt ID A0A088RJX7) of Leishmania panamensis employing a homology modeling approach. The 3D structure prediction was performed using the SWISS-MODEL web server. The tools PROCHECK, Molprobyty, and Verify3D were used to check the quality of the model, indicating that they are reliable. Best docking configurations were identified applying AutoDock Vina in PyRx 0.8 to obtain a potential antileishmanial activity. Biflavonoids such as lanaroflavone, podocarpusflavone A, amentoflavone, and podocarpusflavone B showed good scores among these molecules. Lanaroflavone appears to be the most suitable compound from binding affinity calculations

With the purpose, of determining the likely incidence of mesophilic microorganisms on bottled drinking-water (BDW), the most relevant factors involved in the water production were analyzed. In order to determine the quality, water was stored in several different containers (polycarbonate, glass, high-density polyethylene (HDP), low-density polyethylene (LDP), and polyethylene-coextruded polypropilene (PCP) containers), and subsequently total counts were analysed for mesophilic microorganisms and the most likely number for total coliforms and Pseudomona aeruginosa. The best results were achieved by using glass-containers. Subsequently the treatment of water (chlorination-ozonisation) was compared by using two types of containers (LDP and PCP) so as to determine which material and treatment best kept best the organoleptic and physicochemical features, as well as causing the lowest incidence of mesophilic microorganism during the span of product storage. The most adequate container turned out to be that made from 2.5 gauge PCP with 0.6 ppm chlorine treatment It was also concluded that bacterial growth was more an additional by-product of storage and typeof container since our sampling of the production methods showed that at al1 times the water was drinkable.

A global Carleman estimate in a transmission wave equation and application to a one-measurement inverse problem

We consider a transmission wave equation in two embedded domains in R2R^2, where the speed is a1>0a1 > 0 in the inner domain and a2>0a2 > 0 in the outer domain. We prove a global Carleman inequality for this problem under the hypothesis that the inner domain is strictly convex and a1>a2a1 > a2 . As a consequence of this inequality, uniqueness and Lip- schitz stability are obtained for the inverse problem of retrieving a stationary potential for the wave equation with Dirichlet data and discontinuous principal coefficient from a single time-dependent Neumann boundary measurement

Short-term antigen presentation and single clonal burst limit the magnitude of the CD8(+) T cell responses to malaria liver stages.

    No full text
Malaria sporozoites induce swift activation of antigen-specific CD8(+) T cells that inhibit the intracellular development of liver-stage parasites. The length of time of functional in vivo antigen presentation, estimated by monitoring the activation of antigen-specific CD8(+) T cells, is of short duration, with maximum T cell activation occurring within the first 8 h after immunization and lasting approximately 48 h. Although the magnitude of the CD8(+) T cell response closely correlates with the number of parasites used for immunization, increasing the time of antigen presentation by daily immunizations does not enhance the magnitude of this response. Thus, once a primary clonal burst is established, the CD8(+) T cell response becomes refractory or unresponsive to further antigenic stimulation. These findings strongly suggest that the most efficient strategy for the induction of primary CD8(+) T cell responses is the delivery of a maximal amount of antigen in a single dose, thereby ensuring a clonal burst that involves the largest number of precursors to become memory cells
