Perturbative QCD relations inspired by hypothetical tau leptons
We review our recent works on tests of perturbative QCD, inspired by the
relation between the hadronic decay of the tau lepton and the e+ e-
annihilation into hadrons. First, we present a set of commensurate scale
relations that probe the self-consistency of leading-twist QCD predictions for
any observable which defines an effective charge. These tests are independent
of the renormalization scheme and scale, and are applicable over wide data
ranges. As an example we apply this approach to R_{e+ e-}. Second, using a
differential form of these conmensurate scale relations, we present a method to

On the Behavior of the Effective QCD Coupling alpha_tau(s) at Low Scales
The hadronic decays of the tau lepton can be used to determine the effective
charge alpha_tau(m^2_tau') for a hypothetical tau-lepton with mass in the range
0 < m_tau' < m_tau. This definition provides a fundamental definition of the
QCD coupling at low mass scales. We study the behavior of alpha_tau at low mass
scales directly from first principles and without any renormalization-scheme
dependence by looking at the experimental data from the OPAL Collaboration. The
results are consistent with the freezing of the physical coupling at mass
scales s = m^2_tau' of order 1 GeV^2 with a magnitude alpha_tau ~ 0.9 +/- 0.1.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Physical Review D, added

Renormalization scale uncertainty in tne DIS 2+1 jet cross-section
The deep inelastic scattering 2+1 jet cross- section is a useful observable
for precision tests of QCD, e.g. measuring the strong coupling constant
alpha(s). A consistent analysis requires a good understanding of the
theoretical uncertainties and one of the most fundamental ones in QCD is due to
the renormalization scheme and scale ambiguity. Different methods, which have
been proposed to resolve the scale ambiguity, are applied to the 2+1 jet
cross-section and the uncertainty is estimated. It is shown that the
uncertainty can be made smaller by choosing the jet definition in a suitable

A dynamical gluon mass solution in a coupled system of the Schwinger-Dyson equations
We study numerically the Schwinger-Dyson equations for the coupled system of
gluon and ghost propagators in the Landau gauge and in the case of pure gauge
QCD. We show that a dynamical mass for the gluon propagator arises as a
solution while the ghost propagator develops an enhanced behavior in the
infrared regime of QCD. Simple analytical expressions are proposed for the
propagators, and the mass dependency on the scale and its
perturbative scaling are studied. We discuss the implications of our results
for the infrared behavior of the coupling constant, which, according to fits

The renormalization group inspired approaches and estimates of the tenth-order corrections to the muon anomaly in QED
We present the estimates of the five-loop QED corrections to the muon anomaly
using the scheme-invariant approaches and demonstrate that they are in good
agreement with the results of exact calculations of the corresponding
tenth-order diagrams supplemented by the additional guess about the values of

Measurement of the p-pbar -> Wgamma + X cross section at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV and WWgamma anomalous coupling limits
The WWgamma triple gauge boson coupling parameters are studied using p-pbar
-> l nu gamma + X (l = e,mu) events at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. The data were
collected with the DO detector from an integrated luminosity of 162 pb^{-1}
delivered by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The cross section times branching
fraction for p-pbar -> W(gamma) + X -> l nu gamma + X with E_T^{gamma} > 8 GeV
and Delta R_{l gamma} > 0.7 is 14.8 +/- 1.6 (stat) +/- 1.0 (syst) +/- 1.0 (lum)
pb. The one-dimensional 95% confidence level limits on anomalous couplings are
-0.88 < Delta kappa_{gamma} < 0.96 and -0.20 < lambda_{gamma} < 0.20.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Rev. D Rapid Communication
Measurement of the ttbar Production Cross Section in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using Kinematic Characteristics of Lepton + Jets Events
We present a measurement of the top quark pair ttbar production cross section
in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using 230 pb**{-1}
of data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We
select events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), large missing
transverse energy, and at least four jets, and extract the ttbar content of the
sample based on the kinematic characteristics of the events. For a top quark
mass of 175 GeV, we measure sigma(ttbar) = 6.7 {+1.4-1.3} (stat) {+1.6- 1.1}
(syst) +/-0.4 (lumi) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction.Comment: submitted to Phys.Rev.Let
Observation of Scaling Violations in Scaled Momentum Distributions at HERA
Charged particle production has been measured in deep inelastic scattering
(DIS) events over a large range of and using the ZEUS detector. The
evolution of the scaled momentum, , with in the range 10 to 1280
, has been investigated in the current fragmentation region of the Breit
frame. The results show clear evidence, in a single experiment, for scaling
violations in scaled momenta as a function of .Comment: 21 pages including 4 figures, to be published in Physics Letters B.

We present a measurement of the top quark pair () production cross
section () in collisions at TeV
