Novel sources of Flavor Changed Neutral Currents in the model
Sources of Flavor Changed Neutral Currents (FCNC) naturally emerge from a
well motivated framework called 3-3-1 with right-handed neutrinos model,
for short, mediated by an extra neutral gauge boson .
Following previous works we calculate these sources and in addition we derive
new ones coming from CP-even and -odd neutral scalars which appear due to their
non-diagonal interactions with the physical standard quarks. Furthermore we
show that bounds related to the neutral mesons systems and may be significantly strengthened in the presence of these new
interactions allowing us to infer stronger constraints on the parameter space

Some Properties of the Speciation Model for Food-Web Structure - Mechanisms for Degree Distributions and Intervality
We present a mathematical analysis of the speciation model for food-web
structure, which had in previous work been shown to yield a good description of
empirical data of food-web topology. The degree distributions of the network
are derived. Properties of the speciation model are compared to those of other
models that successfully describe empirical data. It is argued that the
speciation model unifies the underlying ideas of previous theories. In
particular, it offers a mechanistic explanation for the success of the niche
model of Williams and Martinez and the frequent observation of intervality in

An explanatory model for food-web structure and evolution
Food webs are networks describing who is eating whom in an ecological
community. By now it is clear that many aspects of food-web structure are
reproducible across diverse habitats, yet little is known about the driving
force behind this structure. Evolutionary and population dynamical mechanisms
have been considered. We propose a model for the evolutionary dynamics of
food-web topology and show that it accurately reproduces observed food-web
characteristic in the steady state. It is based on the observation that most
consumers are larger than their resource species and the hypothesis that
speciation and extinction rates decrease with increasing body mass. Results
give strong support to the evolutionary hypothesis.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure
Projective and Coarse Projective Integration for Problems with Continuous Symmetries
Temporal integration of equations possessing continuous symmetries (e.g.
systems with translational invariance associated with traveling solutions and
scale invariance associated with self-similar solutions) in a ``co-evolving''
frame (i.e. a frame which is co-traveling, co-collapsing or co-exploding with
the evolving solution) leads to improved accuracy because of the smaller time
derivative in the new spatial frame. The slower time behavior permits the use
of {\it projective} and {\it coarse projective} integration with longer
projective steps in the computation of the time evolution of partial
differential equations and multiscale systems, respectively. These methods are
also demonstrated to be effective for systems which only approximately or
asymptotically possess continuous symmetries. The ideas of projective
integration in a co-evolving frame are illustrated on the one-dimensional,
translationally invariant Nagumo partial differential equation (PDE). A
corresponding kinetic Monte Carlo model, motivated from the Nagumo kinetics, is
used to illustrate the coarse-grained method. A simple, one-dimensional
diffusion problem is used to illustrate the scale invariant case. The
efficiency of projective integration in the co-evolving frame for both the
macroscopic diffusion PDE and for a random-walker particle based model is again
demonstrated
Anomalous Hopping Exponents of Ultrathin Films of Metals
The temperature dependence of the resistance R(T) of ultrathin
quench-condensed films of Ag, Bi, Pb and Pd has been investigated. In the most
resistive films, R(T)=Roexp(To/T)^x, where x=0.75. Surprisingly, the exponent x
was found to be constant for a wide range of Ro and To in all four materials,
possibly implying a consistent underlying conduction mechanism. The results are
discussed in terms of several different models of hopping conduction.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Patient Perspective on the Management of Cancer Pain in Spain
Pain in cancer is often underdiagnosed and undertreated. Breakthrough pain, in particular, severely impacts the quality of life of patients. In this study, we evaluated management and care of pain in Spain from the patient perspective by assessing the experience of 275 patients who had suffered breakthrough pain. Although most patients had suffered moderate-to-severe pain in the last 24 hours, pain relief was achieved in the majority of cases. The body areas with a higher pain intensity was felt varied based on primary cancer. Adherence to treatment was subpar, and patients were moderately concerned about addiction to treatment and adverse events. Doctors did not assess pain in every visit and there is room for improvement in its classification. Education strategies directed toward patients and health care personnel are needed to improve pain assessment, follow-up, and compliance. These could guide shared decision-making and improve communication about cancer pain to improve its care
Evaluación genética en etapa de vivero de áreas productoras de semillas (APS) de Pino Ponderosa en Nordpatagonia
El Pino Ponderosa (Pinus ponderosa Dougl. ex Laws) es la principal especie forestal implantada en secanoen la Patagonia. Su potencialidad productiva y la disponibilidad de tierras para su cultivo permiten proyectarla continuidad de su uso en plantaciones comerciales, para lo que es indispensable asegurar la provisión desemillas de adecuada calidad genética. Las semillas utilizadas en la última década se produjeron en una seriede rodales mediante ensayos para evaluar su descendencia. El objetivo del presente trabajo es evaluar estosrodales ensayando su descendencia. En este primer reporte presentamos los resultados de una evaluaciónen etapa de vivero. Se ensayaron 31 procedencias locales seleccionadas (Áreas Productoras de Semillas,APS) en dos sitios, midiendo altura y diámetro a la altura del cuello en plantines de 2 años de edad. A través de análisis de la varianza se probó un claro efecto de interacción entre las APS y los sitios, y también diferencias entre las APS dentro de cada sitio. Seguidamente, se establecieron rankings de las APS por sitio y variable evaluada. A través de comparaciones de a pares se formaron grupos homogéneos. También se estimó la estabilidad genotípica de las APS por medio del cálculo de sus ecovalencias. Los resultados son aún preliminares, pero el haber probado diferencias en tan temprana edad nos alerta sobre la importancia de la procedencia de las semillas a utilizar para la producción comercial. Se espera que estas diferencias se acentúen en edades más avanzadas. Para probarlo, ya se han establecido ensayos de plantación
The dark side of curvature
Geometrical tests such as the combination of the Hubble parameter H(z) and
the angular diameter distance d_A(z) can, in principle, break the degeneracy
between the dark energy equation of state parameter w(z), and the spatial
curvature Omega_k in a direct, model-independent way. In practice, constraints
on these quantities achievable from realistic experiments, such as those to be
provided by Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) galaxy surveys in combination
with CMB data, can resolve the cosmic confusion between the dark energy
equation of state parameter and curvature only statistically and within a
parameterized model for w(z). Combining measurements of both H(z) and d_A(z) up
to sufficiently high redshifts around z = 2 and employing a parameterization of
the redshift evolution of the dark energy equation of state are the keys to

Dispersion of a single hole in the t-J model
The dispersion of a single hole in the t-J model obtained by the exact result
of 32 sites and the results obtained by self-consistent Born approximation and
the Green function Monte Carlo method can be simply derived by a mean-field
theory with d-RVB and antiferromagnetic order parameters. In addition, it
offers a simple explanation for the difference observed between those results.
The presence of the extended van Hove region at (pi,0) is a consequence of the
d-RVB pairing independenct of the antiferromagnetic order. Results including t'
