On the spectral mapping theorem for essential spectra

B. Gramsch and D. Lay have studied spectral mapping theorems for the essential spectra of an operator acting in a complex Banach space. Firstly they consider operators belonging to the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators on the space, and later they derive the theorems for unbounded closed linear operators with non-empty resolvent from the aboye case ; but bounded closed linear operators with domain a proper subspace are not included.In this note we introduce a notion of extended essential spectra for any closed linear operator with non-empty resolvent, which covers the above cases. Then, in this more general context, we are able to prove the spectral mapping theorems by means of a more unified approach based on a factorization of the operators provided by the Dunford-Taylor calculus and well-known properties of products of operators present in Fredholm theory

Examples of tauberian operators acting on C[0, 1]

ABSTRACT:We show that some counterexamples in the theory of tauberian operators can be realized as operators acting on C[0, 1]. Precisely, we show that the set t(C[0, 1]) of tauberian operators acting on C[0, 1] is not open, and that T?t(C[0, 1]) does not imply T** tauberian

Superprojective Banach spaces

We study superprojective Banach spaces. We show that they cannot contain copies of ?1, which restricts the search for non-reflexive examples of these spaces. We also show that the class of superprojective spaces is stable under finite products, certain unconditional sums, certain tensor products, and other operations, providing new examples. © 2016 Elsevier Inc..Partially supported by D.G.I. Hypercyclicity for the Elements of the Commutant of an Operator

ABSTRACT:Given a bounded linear operator T acting on a complex Banach space, we obtain a spectral condition implying that each operator in the commutant of T different from ?I has a hypercyclic multiple, and we show several examples of operators satisfying this condition. Local duality for Banach spaces

A local dual of a Banach space X is a subspace of the dual X* which can replace the whole dual space when dealing with finite dimensional subspaces. This notion arose as a development of the principle of local reflexivity, and it is very useful when a description of X* is not available. La representación artística abarca un amplísimo aspecto de las emociones humanas que dejan ver todo aquello que conmueve a la sociedad en que se genera. Sirva de ejemplo la espléndida producción religiosa, que nos ofrece la posibilidad de transportarnos a estados espirituales y nos emociona con la iconografía del sufrimiento, aunque a veces solo sea un pretexto licito para representar el cuerpo desnudo. Esta justificación de la utilización del desnudo en los temas religiosos tiene un serio competidor en el panorama de la temática mitológica, que recoge un completo panteón de dioses y héroes donde la desnudez les confiere su máxima dignidad y les aporta su dimensión moral. Sin embargo el desnudo representa también carnalidad y sensualidad, deseo voluptuoso y acercamiento al impulso erótico

Three-operator problems in Banach spaces

Cronología de los procedimientos pictóricos

Tras una breve introducción sobre la historia de los procedimientos pictóricos desde los tiempos antiguos, se recopila una selección bibliográfica sobre el tema. En un primer apartado haremos referencia a un número limitado de libros sobre los procedimientos y técnicas de la pintura. Hemos realizado esta selección donde se recogen ciertas fuentes bibliográficas básicas con el fin de introducir al lector en la materia que nos ocupa. Hemos considerado la accesibilidad de estas fuentes para los estudiantes (teniendo en cuenta su disponibilidad en las librerías o en las bibliotecas de las Universidades). Por este motivo se excluyen fuentes que siendo de gran interés resultan de difícil acceso (ediciones agotadas, manuscritos antiguos...) Pretendemos que esta bibliografía tenga una utilidad práctica y orientadora para todo tipo de lectores. Por ello va acompañada de un breve comentario crítico sobre cada libro que sirva de orientación y estímulo. En segundo lugar exponemos una selección más extensa de la bibliografía relacionada con los procedimientos y técnicas de la pintura, con el fin de ayudar a la profundización en el tema y servir como base para la investigación en este campo. Estas referencias se han seleccionado en algunos casos a partir de la consulta directa de las fuentes mencionadas y en otros a partir de las recomendaciones de investigadores de reconocido prestigio. Por último se expone una selección complementaria sobre cuestiones generales relacionadas con el arte y más concretamente con la pintura cuya consulta puede ser de interés para la formación del artista
