    Kumo beach is one of the busiest beaches in North Halmahera, Kumo beach is alsoone of the island cluster of islands in front of Tobelo town which can be reached ± 5 minutes bymotorized boat. Island Kumo is located right in front of Tobelo town with a beach shaded by treesand a beautiful white sand and the sea is clear, strong and strong and suitable for activities such assnorkeling, boating and others, the choice of the local tourists because of its beautiful sceneryaccess close from Tobelo town. Unfortunately, all the advantages of a tourist beach Kumo untappedand managed properly, it is very necessary for the implementation of policies that seriously bypolicymakers and implementers alike.The research was analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. Thus, the details can bedrawn that the data analysis technique that is performed is after the data are collected, then thenext data will be combined, depicted in narrative form sentences by providing interpretation orinterpretation based on direct observation conducted by researchers with samples of the objectexisting research or respondent which exists. The results of this research show that the efforts madeby the Department of Tourism and culture of North Halmahera District has not been able to exploreand manage the attraction beach Kumo well because they said there are various factors that hamperpolicy makers and implementers in implementing the policy of tourism development on the islandof Kumo

    M2M meets D2D: Harnessing D2D Interfaces for the Aggregation of M2M Data

    Direct device-to-device (D2D) communication presents as an effective technique to reduce the load at the base station (BS) while ensuring reliable localized communication. In this paper, we propose a large-scale M2M data Aggregation and Trunking (MAT) scheme, whereby the user equipments (UEs) aggregate M2M data from the nearby MTDs and trunk this data along with their own data to the BS in the cellular uplink. We develop a comprehensive stochastic geometry framework by considering a Poisson hard sphere model for UE coverage. The main motivation of this model is to capture the fact that a UE can gather data from short range, low-power MTDs located only in its close proximity while ensuring that an MTD is associated to at most one UE. We explore the inherent trade-off between the time reserved for aggregation and successful trunking of data to the BS and compare our results with the baseline case where no aggregation mechanism is used. We show that while the baseline case of connecting a bulk of MTDs directly with the BS is prohibitive, MAT scheme can efficiently gather data from selected MTDs in a distributed manner

    Leveraging D2D Communication to Maximize the Spectral Efficiency of Massive MIMO Systems

    In this paper, we investigate offloading of UEs in D2D mode for a massive MIMO system, where the base station (BS) is equipped with a large, but finite number of antennas and the total number of UEs is kept fixed. We derive closedform expressions for the bounds of the overall capacity of the system. Our results reveal that there exists an optimal user offload fraction, which maximizes the overall capacity. This fraction is strongly coupled with the network parameters such as the number of antennas at the BS, D2D link distance and the transmit SNR at both the UE and the BS. Given a set of network parameters, careful tuning of the offload fraction can provide up to 5× capacity gains

    Structural blueprint and ontogeny determine the adaptive value of the plastic response to competition in clonal plants: a modelling approach

    International audienceLocal competitive interactions strongly influence plant community dynamics. To maintain their performance under competition, clonal plants may plastically modify their network architecture to grow in the direction of least interference. The adaptive value of this plastic avoidance response may depend, however, on traits linked with the plant's structural blueprint and ontogeny. We tested this hypothesis using virtual populations. We used an Individual Based Model to simulate competitive interactions among clones within a plant population. Clonal growth was studied under three competition intensities in plastic and non-plastic individuals. Plasticity buffered the negative impacts of competition at intermediate densities of competitors by promoting clone clumping. Success despite competition was promoted by traits linked with (1) the plant's structural blueprint (weak apical dominance and sympodial growth) and (2) ontogenetic processes, with an increasing or a decreasing dependence of the elongation process on the branch generation level or length along the competition intensity gradient respectively. The adaptive value of the plastic avoidance response depended on the same traits. This response only modulated their importance for clone success. Our results show that structural blueprint and ontogeny can be primary filters of plasticity and can have strong implications for evolutionary ecology, as they may explain why clonal plants have developed many species-specific plastic avoidance behaviours

    Regulation of durum wheat Na(+)/H (+) exchanger TdSOS1 by phosphorylation

    We have identified a plasma membrane Na+/H+ exchanger from durum wheat, designated TdSOS1. Heterologous expression of TdSOS1 in a yeast strain lacking endogenous Na+ efflux proteins showed complementation of the Na+- and Li+-sensitive phenotype by a mechanism involving cation efflux. Salt tolerance conferred by TdSOS1 was maximal when co-expressed with the Arabidopsis protein kinase complex SOS2/SOS3. In vitro phosphorylation of TdSOS1 with a hyperactive form of the Arabidopsis SOS2 kinase (T/DSOS2∆308) showed the importance of two essential serine residues at the C-terminal hydrophilic tail (S1126, S1128). Mutation of these two serine residues to alanine decreased the phosphorylation of TdSOS1 by T/DSOS2∆308 and prevented the activation of TdSOS1. In addition, deletion of the C-terminal domain of TdSOS1 encompassing serine residues at position 1126 and 1128 generated a hyperactive form that had maximal sodium exclusion activity independent from the regulatory SOS2/SOS3 complex. These results are consistent with the presence of an auto-inhibitory domain at the C-terminus of TdSOS1 that mediates the activation of TdSOS1 by the protein kinase SOS2.     A chaotic masking scheme by using synchronized chaotic systems

    We present a new chaotic masking scheme by using synchronized chaotic systems. In this method, synchronization and message transmission phases are separated, and while synchronization is achieved in the synchronization phases, the message is only sent in message transmission phases. We show that if synchronization is achieved exponentially fast, then under certain conditions any message of any length could be transmitted and successfully recovered provided that the synchronization length is sufficiently long. We also show that the proposed scheme is robust with respect to noise and parameter mismatch under some mild conditions. © 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V

    Oxidative stress and hepatotoxicity in rats induced by poisonous pufferfish (Lagocephalus lagocephalus) meat

    This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of pufferfish (Lagocephalus lagocephalus) meat poisoning on hepatic functions of Wistar rats. For this purpose, groups of rats (Lcr, Lcu+b and Lcu-b) received diet supplemented with 10% of raw or cooked meat, respectively, with or without cooking water of L. lagocephalus while groups Mcr and Mcu+b received diet supplemented with 10% of raw or cooked meat of Liza aurata, which were used as a negative control. In Lcu+b group, ALT, AST and ALP rates (hepatic enzyme markers) decreased after two months of treatment, indicating liver damage. We also observed an increase of 54 and 65% of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in their livers respectively 48 hours and two months after treatment compared to controls. The catalase (CAT) activity in group Lcu+b decreased (p < 0.05) after two periods of treatment, whereas metallothionein (MT) level significantly increased and decreased, respectively after 48 hours and two months. In fact, in the histological analysis of the livers from Lcu+b treated group, we observed an increase in vacuolisation, necrosis, hepatocytes ballooning and sinusoids dilation. These results indicate that L. lagocephalus meat cooked with water produces hepatotoxicity and oxidative damage

    Propos Nous rapportons le cas d’un patient atteint d’une myasthénie associée à une spondylarthropathie. Cette observation est originale de part sa rareté, six cas seulement on été rapportés dans la littérature et le problème que pose cette association : est ce qu’elle est fortuite ou impliquerait-elle d’autres facteurs génétiques qui restent à prouver ?Observation Monsieur J.H. âgé de 32 ans, aux antécédents de myasthénie depuis 2002, était hospitalisé en avril 2004 pour polyarthrite chronique bilatérale et asymétrique évoluant depuis un an, touchant le poignet gauche, les inter phalangiennes proximales des 3ème et 5ème doigts droits et le genou droit associées à des talalgiesbilatérales et une douleur des articulations sacro-iliaques. La biologie montrait un syndrome inflammatoire modéré, des facteurs rhumatoïdes faiblement positifs et un typage HLA B7 et B17. Le bilan radiologiquemontrait une arthrite des mains, une enthésite calcanéenne et permettait de suspecter une sacro-iliite bilatérale qui était confirmée par un scanner. L’évolution était bonne sous anti- inflammatoires nonstéroïdiens pendant 6 mois. Il consulte en janvier 2006 pour le même tableau associé à une sècheresse buccale et oculaire. Le bilan trouvait une VS à 20, des facteurs rhumatoïdes faiblement positifs mais desAAN positifs à un taux 1/160 homogènes avec des anti SSA. Les radiographies standard montraient une carpite stade II gauche. L’examen ophtalmologique a confirmé le syndrome sec oculaire. La biopsie des glandes salivaires accessoires a montré un syndrome de Gougerot Sjögren grade 2 de Shisholm
