Renal function and peak exercise oxygen consumption in chronic heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction
Background: Chronic kidney disease is associated with sympathetic activation and muscle abnormalities, which may contribute to decreased exercise capacity. We investigated the correlation of renal function with peak exercise oxygen consumption (V\u2d9O2) in heart failure (HF) patients. Methods and Results: We recruited 2,938 systolic HF patients who underwent clinical, laboratory, echocardiographic and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. The patients were stratified according to estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Mean follow-up was 3.7 years. The primary outcome was a composite of cardiovascular death and urgent heart transplantation at 3 years. On multivariable regression, eGFR was predictor of peakV\u2d9O2 (P<0.0001). Other predictors were age, sex, body mass index, HF etiology, NYHA class, atrial fibrillation, resting heart rate, Btype natriuretic peptide, hemoglobin, and treatment. After adjusting for significant covariates, the hazard ratio for primary outcome associated with peakVO2 <12 ml ・ kg 121 ・ min 121 was 1.75 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.06–2.91; P=0.0292) in patients with eGFR 6560, 1.77 (0.87–3.61; P=0.1141) in those with eGFR of 45–59, and 2.72 (1.01– 7.37; P=0.0489) in those with eGFR <45 ml ・ min 121 ・ 1.73 m 122. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve for peakV\u2d9O2 <12 ml ・ kg 121 ・ min 121 was 0.63 (95% CI: 0.54–0.71), 0.67 (0.56–0.78), and 0.57 (0.47–0.69), respectively. Testing for interaction was not significant. Conclusions: Renal dysfunction is correlated with peakV O2. A peakV O2 cutoff of 12 ml ・ kg–1 ・ min–1 offers limited prognostic information in HF patients with more severely impaired renal function
Experimental study of hard photon radiation processes at HERA
We present an experimental study of the epâeÎł+p and epâeÎł+X processes using data recorded by the H1 detector in 1993 at the electron-proton collider HERA. These processes are employed to measure the luminosity with an accuracy of 4.5 %. A subsample of the epâeÎł+X events in which the hard photon is detected at angles ΞγâČ â€ 0.45 mrad with respect to the incident electron direction is used to verify experimentally the size of radiative corrections to the epâeX inclusive cross section and to investigate the structure of the proton in the Q2 domain down to 2 GeV2, lower than previously attained at HERA. © 1995 Springer-Verlag.0400 auteursSCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
Amplitude analysis of the decay D0âK-K+Ï0
Using 385 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collisions, we study the amplitudes of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D-0 -> K-K+pi(0). We measure the strong phase difference between the (D) over bar (0) and D-0 decays to K-*(892)K-+(-) to be -35.5 degrees +/- 1.9 degrees(stat)+/- 2.2 degrees(syst), and their amplitude ratio to be 0.599 +/- 0.013(stat)+/- 0.011(syst). We observe contributions from the K pi and K-K+ scalar and vector amplitudes, and analyze their angular moments. We find no evidence for charged kappa, nor for higher spin states. We also perform a partial-wave analysis of the K-K+ system in a limited mass range
Observation of Decays and
7 pages, 2 postscript figues, submitted to Physical Review Letters - P. Grenier aussi au LPCWe report the observation of decays B0->D_s(*)+pi- and B0->D_s(*)-K+ in a sample of 230*10^6 Upsilon(4S)->BBbar events recorded with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage ring. We measure the branching fractions B(B0->D_s+pi-)=(1.3 +/- 0.3 (stat.) +/- 0.2 (syst.))*10^{-5}, B(B0->D_s-K+)=(2.5 +/- 0.4 (stat.) +/- 0.4 (syst.))*10^{-5}, B(B0->D_s*+pi-)=(2.8 +/- 0.6 (stat.) +/- 0.5 (syst.))*10^{-5}, and B(B0->D_s*-K+)=(2.0 +/- 0.5 (stat.) +/- 0.4 (syst.))*10^{-5}. The significance of the measurements to differ from zero are 5, 9, 6, and 5 standard deviations, respectively
Branching fraction and CP-violation charge asymmetry measurements for B-meson decays to ηK±, ηϱ, ηâČK, ηâČϱ, ÏK, and Ïϱ
We present measurements of the branching fractions for B-0-meson decays to eta'K-0 and omega K-0, and of the branching fractions and CP-violation charge asymmetries for B+-meson decays to eta pi(+), eta K+, eta'pi(+), eta'K+, omega pi(+), and omega K+. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 383x10(6) B (B) over bar pairs produced in e(+)e(-) annihilation. The measurements agree with previous results; we find no evidence for direct CP violation
Production and decay of Ωc0
We present an analysis of inclusive Omega(0)(c) baryon production and decays in 230.5 fb(-1) of data recorded with the BABAR detector. Omega(0)(c) baryons are reconstructed in four final states (Omega(-)pi(+), Omega(-)pi(+)pi(0), Omega(-)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-), Xi K--(-)pi(+)pi(+)) and the corresponding ratios of branching fractions are measured. We also measure the momentum spectrum in the e(+)e(-) center-of-mass frame. From the spectrum, we observe Omega(0)(c) production from B decays and in c (c) over bar events, and extract the two rates of production
Improved limits on the lepton-flavor violating decays tau(-) -> l(-)l(+)l(-)
A search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor violating decay of the tau lepton into three charged leptons has been performed using 376 fb(-1) of data collected at an e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy around 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II storage rings. In all six decay modes considered, the numbers of events found in data are compatible with the background expectations. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set in the range (4-8)x10(-8) at 90% confidence level
Measurements of CP-violating asymmetries in B0âa1±(1260)Ïâ Decays
We present measurements of CP-violating asymmetries in the decay B-0 -> a(1)(+/-)(1260)pi(-/+) with a(1)(+/-)(1260)->pi(-/+)pi(+/-)pi(+/-). The data sample corresponds to 384x10(6) B(b) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B factory at SLAC. We measure the CP-violating asymmetry A(CP)(a1 pi)=-0.07 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.02, the mixing-induced CP violation parameter S-a1 pi=0.37 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.07, the direct CP violation parameter C-a1 pi=-0.10 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.09, and the parameters Delta C-a1 pi=0.26 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.07 and Delta S-a1 pi=-0.14 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.06. From these measured quantities we determine the angle alpha(eff)=78.6 degrees +/- 7.3 degrees
