    Taksonomik açıdan karışıklıklar içeren Scabiosa L. cinsi, Caprifoliaceae familyasının en önemli cinslerinden biridir ve ülkemizde yaklaşık 36 takson ile temsil edilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Mayıs-Eylül ayları arasında çiçeklenen ve tek yıllık bir bitki olan Scabiosa hispidula Boiss. türünün, anatomik özelliklerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla kök, gövde ve yapraklardan alınan enine kesitler incelenerek fotograflandırılmıştır. Gövde enine kesitinde gözlenen salgı tüyleri ve hidatotlar karakteristiktir.Scabiosa L. genus contains taxonomic confusions is one of the most important genus of the family Caprifoliaceae and is represented by 36 taxon in Turkey. The aim of this study was to determine the anatomical features of Scabiosa hispidula Boiss. with an annual and flowering between May and September. For this purpose, cross-sections of root, stem and leaf parts of the plant were examined and demonstrated by photographs.     Template synthesis of boron nitride nanotubes over iron impregnated mesoporous silica MCM-41 by chemical vapor deposition technique

    BN nanotubes were successfully grown over iron impregnated MCM-41 at a relatively low temperature of 750oC for 1 hour by CVD technique. BN nanotubes were obtained after the purification procedure including HCl and HNO3 treatments to remove impurities. SEM image showed the formation of nano-fibrous network BN structures in the diameter range of 20 nm to 40 nm. Both XRD and FTIR characterization results supported the formation of h-BN and c-BN nanostructures. Oxidative TGA results indicated that the synthesized BN nanostructures were thermally stable at temperatures higher than 550oC. Hydrogen storage measurements via IGA showed that BNNTs could adsorb 0.85 wt% hydrogen which was two times larger than for commercial CNTs

    Modulation Behaviors, Conductivities, and Carrier Dynamics of Single and Multilayer Graphenes

    Time domain and time resolved terahertz studies of single- and multi-layer graphene (SLG and MLG) samples and modulator devices will be presented. A high performance up to 100% of modulators were observed with the devices even at very low voltages. High modulation depth over such a broad spectrum and simple device structure brings significant importance toward application of this type of device in THz and related technologies. In addition, conductivities of SLG and MLG devices were also investigated and a change in behavior was observed as the layer thickness increased. The charge carriers dynamics of the samples with pulp fluence and color was also highly interesting

    The root, trunk and leaf anatomy of four taxa of Scutellaria albida namely, S. albida subsp. albida, S. albida subsp. velenovskyi, S. albida subsp. colchica and S. albida subsp. condensata were examined. The aim is to determine whether these characters can be used for systematic purposes. The roots displays a typical stele structure in all studied taxa. But their number of pith rays are different in each taxa. The stems of S. albida taxa have square like transection, collateral vascular bundles, parenchymatous pith and show 1-2 layered epidermis coated with thick cuticle. S. albida subsp. condensata has papillate epicuticular wax on its stem cuticle layer. In all taxa angular collenchyma, and cambium forming phloem outward and xylem inward are observed. The leaves are hypostomatic, have single rowed epidermis coated with thick cuticle and show dorsiventral mesophyll in all studied taxa. S. albida subsp. velenovskyi has echinate epicuticular wax on its leaf cuticle layer, but the others have smooth cuticle layer. The midrib shows one collateral bundles in all taxa but the shape of median veins of the leaf blade show variation in each taxa.     Effect of reaction temperature and catalyst type on the formation of Boron nitride nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition and measurement of their hydrogen storage capacity

    Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNT) were synthesized over both Fe3+ impregnated MCM-41 (mobil composition of matter no. 41) and Fe2O3/MCM-41 complex catalyst systems at relatively low temperatures for 1 h by the chemical vapor deposition technique in large quantities. The formation of BNNT was tailored at different reaction temperatures by changing catalyst type. The use of Fe3+-MCM-41 and Fe2O3 as a complex catalyst system led to thin and thick tube formations. The diameters of BNNTs were in the range of 2.5-4.0 nm for thin tubes and 20-60 nm for thick tubes. The thin tube formation originated from the growth of BNNT over Fe3+-MCM-41 due to its average pore size of 4 nm. Higher reaction temperatures caused both BNNT and iron-based side product formations. The hydrogen uptake capacity measurements by the Intelligent Gravimetric Analyzer at room temperature showed that BNNTs could adsorb 0.85 wt % hydrogen which was two times larger than that for commercial carbon nanotubes

    Enthesitis and its relationship with disease activity, functional status, and quality of life in psoriatic arthritis: A multi-center study

    Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an inflammatory arthritis with distinct phenotypic subtypes. Enthesitis is assigned as a hallmark of the disease, given its significant relations to disease activity and quality of life. Our objective is to evaluate the prevalence of enthesitis and its association with some clinical parameters, particularly quality of life, using data from a national registry. Patients with PsA meeting ClASsification criteria for Psoriatic Arthritis (CASPAR) were enrolled by means of a multi-centre Turkish League Against Rheumatism (TLAR) Network Project. The following information was recorded in web-based case report forms: demographic, clinical and radiographic data; physical examination findings, including tender and swollen joint counts (TJC and SJC); nail and skin involvement; Disease Activity Score-28 for Rheumatoid Arthritis with Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (DAS 28-ESR); Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI); Maastricht Ankylosing Spondylitis Enthesitis Score (MASES); Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI); Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Radiology Index for the spine (BASRI-s); Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ); Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI); Health Assessment Questionnaire for the spondyloarthropathies (HAQ-s); Psoriatic arthritis quality of Life scale (PsAQoL); Short Form 36 (SF-36); Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS); Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F); and Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool (FiRST) scores. The patients were divided into two groups, namely with and without enthesitis, based on the triple Likert-type physician-reported statement of ‘active enthesitis’, ‘history of enthesitis’ or ‘none’ in the case report forms. Patients with active enthesitis were compared to others in terms of these clinical parameters. A total of 1130 patients were enrolled in this observational study. Of these patients, 251 (22.2%) had active enthesitis according to the clinical assessment. TJC, HAQ-s, BASDAI, FiRST and PsAQoL were significantly higher whereas the SF-36 scores were lower in patients with enthesitis (p < 0.05). Chronic back pain, dactylitis, and tenosynovitis were more frequent in the enthesopathy group (59.4%/39%, 13.1%/6.5% and 24.7%/3.4%, respectively). Significant positive correlations between the MASES score and the TJC, HAQ, DAS 28-ESR, BASDAI, FiRST and PsAQoL scores, and a negative correlation with the SF-36 score were found. When linear regression analysis was performed, the SF-36 MCS and PCS scores decreased by − 9.740 and − 11.795 units, and the FiRST scores increased by 1.223 units in patients with enthesitis. Enthesitis is an important involvement of PsA with significant relations to quality of life determined with PsAQoL and SF-36 scores. Our study found higher frequency of dactylitis and chronic back pain, and worse quality of life determined with SF-36 and PsAQoL scores in patients with enthesitis
