Construyendo sentido de comunidad a través de la investigación comunitaria y la implementación de un programa de estudios negociado

The following paper describes the outcomes and insights of the first stage of an action research study aimed to explore ways in which CBP and NC strengthen sense of community and provoke actions to benefit that community is a public school located in a rural area. This work emerged from a needs analysis study in which students gave their opinions about the importance of English as a second language. Implementing CBP and Negotiated Syllabus as means to involve and foster students to be aware of their responsibility for the preservation of the school facilities, as well as educating the surrounding community, demonstrated the development of sense of community in the students. Throughout the use of questionnaires, surveys and journals, the outcomes revealed that students felt more motivated when they are taken into account in making curricular decisions. In addition, this study showed that a commitment from the entire academic community is possible when some academic and personal goals are established collaboratively and efforts are made to generate important changes. Keywords: Sense of Community, Community Based Project, negotiated syllabus, needs analysis, critical pedagogy.Este artículo describe los resultados y hallazgos de un estudio de investigación cuyo objetivo fue explorar cómo a través de la implementación de tres pilares: Pedagogía basada en la comunidad (CBP), Plan de estudios negociado y Sentido de comunidad se fortalece el sentido de comunidad, así como generar actitudes y acciones que beneficien a la comunidad. Este trabajo surgió de un estudio de análisis de necesidades en el que los estudiantes dieron su opinión sobre la importancia del inglés como segundo idioma. Implementar proyectos basados en la comunidad y la negociación de un plan de estudios como medios para involucrar y alentar a los estudiantes a tomar conciencia de su responsabilidad en la preservación de las instalaciones escolares, así como educar a la comunidad circundante, lo que evidencia desarrollo de sentido de comunidad de parte de los estudiantes. Mediante el uso de cuestionarios, encuestas y diarios, los resultados revelaron que los estudiantes se sintieron más motivados cuando fueron tenidos en cuenta en la toma de decisiones curriculares. Además, este estudio mostró que es posible un compromiso de parte de toda la comunidad académica cuando se establecen colaborativamente algunos objetivos académicos y personales, y se aúnan esfuerzos para generar cambios importantes. Efecto de la desagregación temporal sobre la coherencia espacial de la precipitación en Colombia

RESUMEN: Se estudia el efecto de la variación de la escala temporal en el comportamiento de la precipitación en Colombia, mediante análisis de Funciones Ortogonales Empíricas (FOE) y de Transformada en Onditas, usando registros en tres escalas temporales: (i) mensuales durante el período Diciembre de 1976Febrero de 1996, en 41 estaciones de medición, (ii) diarios durante el período Noviembre 1982Enero de 1992, en 28 estaciones, y (iii) diarios filtrados en la banda intraestacional 20110 días, durante el período comprendido entre Noviembre 26 de 1982 y Enero 1 de 1992, en 28 estaciones. Los resultados para (i) muestran que la primera FOE explica el 90% de la varianza, lo que está asociado con la periodicidad anual y semianual de la oscilación meridional de la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical (ZCIT). La transformada en ondita de las primeras cuatro Componentes Principales (CP) muestran bandas espectrales significativas de 4 a 8 y 8 a 16 meses, cuya importancia relativa varía con el tiempo. Los resultados de (ii) muestran que la primera FOE explica el 28.4% de la varianza, y la segunda el 6.7%, requiriéndose 15 FOEs para explicar el 70% de la varianza total. El espectro en ondita muestra una banda significativa de 12025 días, asociada con el ciclo semianual, además de una banda de 864 días, que corresponde a la variabilidad intraanual asociada con las ondas del este y la oscilación de 3060 días (oscilación de MaddenJulian). Los resultados para (iii) indican que las tres primeras FOEs explican el 9.4%, 8.4% y 8.1% de la varianza, respectivamente, requiriéndose 15 FOEs para explicar el 70% de la varianza total. El espectro de potencias en ondita muestra bandas espectrales intermitentes significativas en el rango entre 2 y 120 días. Estos resultados evidencian la pérdida de estructura (coherencia espacial y regional) a medida que se disminuye la escala temporal de la precipitación en los Andes de Colombia

Análisis de la situación de Salud 2021 del Distrito de Tumaco (ASIS) - Tuberculosis

En la actualidad el índice de mortalidad de la tuberculosis ha aumentado en gran medida, puesto que se evidencia que existe un índice de incidencia alto de esta enfermedad en pacientes que presentan enfermedades de base como el VIH SIDA, dado que son pacientes con un nivel de reducción de resistencia baja., para el municipio de San Andrés de Tumaco esto se convierte en una problemática que se ve representada por su población objeto de hombres y Mujeres, quienes principalmente cuentan con un alto índice de incidencia en hombres. La tuberculosis es una enfermedad que afecta principalmente a los pulmones, la transmisión de la enfermedad puede ser por vía directa, de un individuo afectado a otro, fundamentalmente por las gotitas de saliva que contengan, es una enfermedad que tiene cura y se puede controlar dependiendo del avance de la misma, incluso un paciente puede estar 6 meses en tratamiento o en el peor de los casos puede pasar de 18 meses a 24 meses. Cabe resaltar que para la prevención de la enfermedad se resalta la necesidad de trabajar de la mano con el Municipio y ejercer diferentes campañas de promoción y prevención de la tuberculosis, la cual establecerá diferentes controles que permitirán una gran avance no solo en los pacientes, si no en los costos y efectividad que el sector salud adquiera al obtener una disminución de la enfermedad, por ello se hace relevante crear conciencia y cultura en los Habitantes del Municipio de San Andrés de Tumaco, así mismo entendiendo que la falta de recursos en la que se encuentra y sus índices de violencia se suman a la decadencia que esta enfermedad puede traer consigo a sus habitantes si no se toma el debido cuidado.At present, the mortality rate of tuberculosis has increased to a great extent, since it is evident that there is a high incidence rate of this disease in patients who present underlying diseases such as HIV AIDS, since they are patients with a level of Low resistance reduction. For the municipality of San Andrés de Tumaco this becomes a problem that is represented by its target population of men and women, who mainly have a high incidence rate in men. Tuberculosis is a disease that mainly affects the lungs, the transmission of the disease can be direct, from one affected individual to another, mainly by the saliva droplets they contain, it is a disease that has a cure and can be controlled depending on of its progress, even a patient can be 6 months in treatment or in the worst case it can go from 18 months to 24 months. It should be noted that for the prevention of the disease, the need to work hand in hand with the Municipality and carry out different campaigns for the promotion and prevention of tuberculosis is highlighted, which will establish different controls that will allow a great advance not only in patients, but also not in the costs and effectiveness that the health sector acquires when obtaining a decrease in the disease, for this reason it is relevant to create awareness and culture in the Inhabitants of the Municipality of San Andrés de Tumaco, likewise understanding that the lack of resources in which is found and its rates of violence add to the decline that this disease can bring to its inhabitants if due care is not taken

The ecology of peace : preparing Colombia for new political and planetary climates

ABSTRACT: Colombia, one of the world’s most species-rich nations, is currently undergoing a profound social transition: the end of a decadeslong conflict with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known as FARC. The peace agreement process will likely transform the country’s physical and socioeconomic landscapes at a time when humans are altering Earth’s atmosphere and climate in unprecedented ways. We discuss ways in which these transformative events will act in combination to shape the ecological and environmental future of Colombia. We also highlight the risks of creating perverse development incentives in these critical times, along with the potential benefits – for the country and the world – if Colombia can navigate through the peace process in a way that protects its own environment and ecosystems

Fully automatic landmarking of 2D photographs identifies novel genetic loci influencing facial features

We report a genome-wide association study for facial features in > 6,000 Latin Americans. We placed 106 landmarks on 2D frontal photographs using the cloud service platform Face++. After Procrustes superposition, genome-wide association testing was performed for 301 inter-landmark distances. We detected nominally significant association (P-value < 5×10− 8) for 42 genome regions. Of these, 9 regions have been previously reported in GWAS of facial features. In follow-up analyses, we replicated 26 of the 33 novel regions (in East Asians or Europeans). The replicated regions include 1q32.3, 3q21.1, 8p11.21, 10p11.1, and 22q12.1, all comprising strong candidate genes involved in craniofacial development. Furthermore, the 1q32.3 region shows evidence of introgression from archaic humans. The Research Journey as a Challenge Towards New Trends

Experiencias en el aula: tercer encuentro de prácticas pedagógicas innovadoras.

Experiencias de profesores en su quehacer en los distintos ambientes de aprendizaje presenciales y a distancia.Para el Centro de Excelencia Docente aeiou constituye un honor presentar la publicación del Tercer Encuentro de Prácticas Pedagógicas Innovadoras en el que se destacan cuarenta trabajos de profesores de UNIMINUTO provenientes de diferentes sedes. Con este encuentro son ya tres que bajo la dirección de aeiou los profesores han compartido su quehacer en los distintos ambientes de aprendizaje presenciales y a distancia. Cada año el Centro de Excelencia Docente invita a los profesores a participar en este evento, para el 2108 además de la inscripción voluntaria por parte de cada profesor, se invitó al estudiantado a que postularan a sus profesores que consideraban eran innovadores y creativos en el cumplimiento de su función docente y se obtuvo una respuesta importante por parte de los estudiantes, que para algunos profesores resultó sorpresiva porque quizás no habían considerado que el trabajo que hacían en su ambiente de aprendizaje era diferente, fuera de lo común. Luego de una evaluación de jurados nacionales e internacionales de las prácticas presentadas y de la realización del evento, que tuvo como novedad hacerlo de forma simultánea en cuatro sedes donde UNIMINUTO tiene presencia: Buga, Ibagué, Pereira y Bogotá, se comparte la presente publicación para tener como referencia y evidencia el trabajo que los profesores hacen a diario
