A construction procedure of iterative methods with cubical convergence II: Another convergence approach
We extend the analysis of convergence of the iterations considered in Ezquerro et al. [Appl. Math. Comput. 85 (1997) 181] for solving nonlinear operator equations in Banach spaces. We establish a different Kantorovich-type convergence theorem for this family and give some error estimates in terms of a real parameter [-5, 1). © 1998 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved
Tele-rehabilitation versus local rehabilitation therapies assisted by robotic devices: a pilot study with patients
The present study aims to evaluate the advantages of a master-slave robotic rehabilitation therapy in which the patient is assisted in real-time by a therapist. We have also explored if this type of strategy is applicable in a tele-rehabilitation environment. A pilot study has been carried out involving 10 patients who have performed a point-to-point rehabilitation exercise supported by three assistance modalities: fixed assistance (without therapist interaction), local therapist assistance, and remote therapist assistance in a simulated tele-rehabiliation scenario. The rehabilitation exercise will be performed using an upper-limb rehabilitation robotic device that assists the patients through force fields. The results suggest that the assistance provided by the therapist is better adapted to patient needs than fixed assistance mode. Therefore, it maximizes the patient's level of effort, which is an important aspect to improve the rehabilitation outcomes. We have also seen that in a tele-rehabilitation environment it is more difficult to assess when to assist the patient than locally. However, the assistance suits patients better than the fixed assistance mode
European Space Agency experiments on thermodiffusion of fluid mixtures in space
Abstract.: This paper describes the European Space Agency (ESA) experiments devoted to study thermodiffusion of fluid mixtures in microgravity environment, where sedimentation and convection do not affect the mass flow induced by the Soret effect. First, the experiments performed on binary mixtures in the IVIDIL and GRADFLEX experiments are described. Then, further experiments on ternary mixtures and complex fluids performed in DCMIX and planned to be performed in the context of the NEUF-DIX project are presented. Finally, multi-component mixtures studied in the SCCO project are detailed

A construction procedure of iterative methods with cubical convergence
We study the Kantorovich convergence for parameter-based methods for solving nonlinear operator equations in Banach spaces. We also derive a closed form of error bounds in terms of a real parameter [0,1]. © Elsevier Science Inc., 1997
The application of an inverse-free Jarratt type approximation to nonlinear integral equations of Hammerstein type
We consider an inverse-free Jarratt-type approximation, whose order of convergence is four, for solving nonlinear equations. The convergence of this method is analysed under two different types of conditions. We use a new technique based on constructing a system of real sequences. Finally, this method is applied to the study of Hammerstein's integral equations. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
On the Monitoring of the Vibratory Environment of DCMIX4 Campaign. Preliminary Results
This work presents the preliminary characterization of the vibrational environment of the DCMIX4 thermodiffusion experiment conducted onboard the ISS from December 2018 to March 2019. Given the long duration of each one of the 58 runs of the campaign and to ensure a correct interpretation of the results, an accurate analysis of acceleration levels all along the experiment is advisable. Digital signals coming from the nearest sensor, es09006, located in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (Destiny module) were downloaded from the PIMS NASA website. The techniques used to identify the main disturbances during the experiments were defined both in time and frequency domains. It is expected that the results obtained can help the experimentalist to have an overview of the possible sources of disturbances that may affect their experiments. To visualize the possible impact of the accelerometric environment on the experiment a numerical simulation has been performed. Four signals have been chosen, one considering the ideal case g = 0, one coming from the OSS raw sensor (outside the Microgravity Science Glovebox) and the other two, coming from the es09006 sensor that needed to be mathematical manipulated for considering only the low frequency range. Independent of the location of the sensor, numerical simulations do not detect, in any case, appreciable flow disturbances if quiescent periods are considered. Therefore, in case the reference sensor is not available one can use other sensors placed in the same module.SCOPUS: ar.jDecretOANoAutActifinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
On the semilocal convergence of efficient Chebyshev–Secant-type methods
AbstractWe introduce a three-step Chebyshev–Secant-type method (CSTM) with high efficiency index for solving nonlinear equations in a Banach space setting. We provide a semilocal convergence analysis for (CSTM) using recurrence relations. Numerical examples validating our theoretical results are also provided in this study
