Circumnuclear Keplerian Disks in Galaxies
In this paper we demonstrate the possibility of inferring the presence of
Keplerian gaseous disks using optical ground-based telescopes properly
equipped.
We have modeled the peculiar bidimensional shape of the emission lines in a
sample of five S0-Sa galaxies as due to the motion of a gaseous disk rotating
in the combined potential of a central point-like mass and of an extended
stellar disk. The value of the central mass concentration estimated for four
galaxies of the sample (NGC 2179, NGC 4343, NGC 4435 and NGC 4459) is ~10^9
Msolar. For the remaining galaxy NGC 5064 an upper limit of 5*10^7 Msolar is

The Bulge-Disk Orthogonal Decoupling in Galaxies: NGC 4698
The R-band isophotal map of the Sa galaxy NGC 4698 shows that the inner
region of the bulge structure is elongated perpendicularly to the major axis of
the disk, this is also true for the outer parts of the bulge if a parametric
photometric decomposition is adopted. At the same time the stellar component is
characterized by an inner velocity gradient and a central zero-velocity plateau
along the minor and major axis of the disk respectively. This remarkable
geometric and kinematic decoupling suggests that a second event occurred in the

Ionized gas and stellar kinematics of seventeen nearby spiral galaxies
Ionized gas and stellar kinematics have been measured along the major axes of
seventeen nearby spiral galaxies of intermediate to late morphological type. We
discuss the properties of each sample galaxy distinguishing between those
characterized by regular or peculiar kinematics. In most of the observed
galaxies ionized gas rotates more rapidly than stars and have a lower velocity
dispersion, as is to be expected if the gas is confined in the disc and
supported by rotation while the stars are mostly supported by dynamical
pressure. In a few objects, gas and stars show almost the same rotational
velocity and low velocity dispersion, suggesting that their motion is dominated
by rotation.
Incorporating the spiral galaxies studied by Bertola et al. (1996), Corsini
et al. (1999, 2003) and Vega Beltran et al. (2001) we have compiled a sample of
50 S0/a-Scd galaxies, for which the major-axis kinematics of the ionized gas
and stars have been obtained with the same spatial (~1'') and spectral
(~50km/s) resolution, and measured with the same analysis techniques. This
allowed us to address the frequency of counterrotation in spiral galaxies. It
turns out that less than 12% and less than 8% (at the 95% confidence level) of
the sample galaxies host a counterrotating gaseous and stellar disc,
respectively. The comparison with S0 galaxies suggests that the retrograde
acquisition of small amounts of external gas gives rise to counterrotating
gaseous discs only in gas-poor S0s, while in gas-rich spirals the newly
acquired gas is swept away by the pre-existing gas. Counterrotating gaseous and
stellar discs in spirals are formed only from the retrograde acquisition of
large amounts of gas exceeding that of pre-existing gas, and subsequent star

Experiencia inicial en prostatectomía radical laparoscópica con el dispositivo de acceso laparoscópico umbilical Single-Incision Laparoscopic Surgery Port
Since 2007, various urological procedures have been performed with laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS surgery), including nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, simple prostatectomy and, with the refinement of laparoscopic instrumentation, radical prostatectomy. This paper reports our initial experience in radical prostatectomy using the SILS Port from Covidiem and two lateral 5-mm trocars for triangulation. The SILS Port allows for accurate, simple insertion through a Hadson incision. The flexible port accommodates three 5-mm cannulas or two 5-mm cannulas and a 12-mm port for easier instrument exchange through a single incision. This approach decreases morbidity from bleeding, hernia and/or internal organ damage and improves cosmetic. One-port single-incision laparoscopy is part of the natural development of minimally invasive surgery. Future research is required to assess the intraoperative and postoperative benefits of LESS surgery as compared to standard laparoscopy
Position-velocity diagrams of ionized gas in the inner regions of disk galaxies
We use long-slit spectroscopy along the major axis of a sample of 23 nearby
disk galaxies to study the kinematic properties of the ionized-gas component in
their inner regions. For each galaxy, we derive the position-velocity diagram
of the ionized gas from its emission lines. We discuss the variety of shapes
observed in such position-velocity diagrams by comparing the gas velocity
gradient, velocity dispersion and integrated flux measured in the inner (r
+/-1'') and outer regions (r +/-4''). This kind of analysis allows the
identification of galaxies which are good candidates to host a circumnuclear
Keplerian gaseous disk rotating around a central mass concentration, and to

Kinematic properties of gas and stars in 20 disc galaxies
Ionized gas and stellar kinematical parameters have been measured along the
major axis of 20 nearby disc galaxies. We discuss the properties of each sample
galaxy distinguishing between those characterized by regular or peculiar
kinematics. In early-type disc galaxies ionized gas tends to rotate faster than
stars and to have a lower velocity dispersion, whereas in late-type spirals gas
and stars show almost the same rotation velocities and velocity dispersions.
Incorporating the early-type disc galaxies studied by Bertola et al. (1995),
Fisher (1997) and Corsini et al. (1999), we have compiled a sample of some 40
galaxies for which the major-axis radial profiles of both the stellar and
gaseous components have been measured. The value of the stellar velocity
dispersion measured at Re/4 turns out to be strongly correlated with the galaxy
morphological type, while the gaseous velocity dispersion is not and sometimes
takes values above the range expected from thermal motions or small-scale

Evolution after Anti-TNF Discontinuation in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Multicenter Long-Term Follow-Up Study
OBJECTIVES:The aims of this study were to assess the risk of relapse after discontinuation of anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) drugs in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), to identify the factors associated with relapse, and to evaluate the overcome after retreatment with the same anti-TNF in those who relapsed.METHODS:This was a retrospective, observational, multicenter study. IBD patients who had been treated with anti-TNFs and in whom these drugs were discontinued after clinical remission was achieved were included.RESULTS:A total of 1, 055 patients were included. The incidence rate of relapse was 19% and 17% per patient-year in Crohn''s disease and ulcerative colitis patients, respectively. In both Crohn''s disease and ulcerative colitis patients in deep remission, the incidence rate of relapse was 19% per patient-year. The treatment with adalimumab vs. infliximab (hazard ratio (HR)=1.29; 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.01-1.66), elective discontinuation of anti-TNFs (HR=1.90; 95% CI=1.07-3.37) or discontinuation because of adverse events (HR=2.33; 95% CI=1.27-2.02) vs. a top-down strategy, colonic localization (HR=1.51; 95% CI=1.13-2.02) vs. ileal, and stricturing behavior (HR=1.5; 95% CI=1.09-2.05) vs. inflammatory were associated with a higher risk of relapse in Crohn''s disease patients, whereas treatment with immunomodulators after discontinuation (HR=0.67; 95% CI=0.51-0.87) and age (HR=0.98; 95% CI=0.97-0.99) were protective factors. None of the factors were predictive in ulcerative colitis patients. Retreatment of relapse with the same anti-TNF was effective (80% responded) and safe.CONCLUSIONS:The incidence rate of inflammatory bowel disease relapse after anti-TNF discontinuation is relevant. Some predictive factors of relapse after anti-TNF withdrawal have been identified. Retreatment with the same anti-TNF drug was effective and safe
Total and Subtypes of Dietary Fat Intake and Its Association with Components of the Metabolic Syndrome in a Mediterranean Population at High Cardiovascular Risk
Background: The effect of dietary fat intake on the metabolic syndrome (MetS) and in turn on cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains unclear in individuals at high CVD risk. Objective: To assess the association between fat intake and MetS components in an adult Mediterranean population at high CVD risk. Design: Baseline assessment of nutritional adequacy in participants (n = 6560, men and women, 55-75 years old, with overweight/obesity and MetS) in the PREvención con DIeta MEDiterránea (PREDIMED)-Plus randomized trial. Methods: Assessment of fat intake (total fat, monounsatured fatty acids: MUFA, polyunsaturated fatty acids: PUFA, saturated fatty acids: SFA, trans-fatty acids: trans-FA, linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, and ω-3 FA) using a validated food frequency questionnaire, and diet quality using 17-item Mediterranean dietary questionnaire and fat quality index (FQI). Results: Participants in the highest quintile of total dietary fat intake showed lower intake of energy, carbohydrates, protein and fiber, but higher intake of PUFA, MUFA, SFA, TFA, LA, ALA and ω-3 FA. Differences in MetS components were found according to fat intake. Odds (5th vs. 1st quintile): hyperglycemia: 1.3-1.6 times higher for total fat, MUFA, SFA and ω-3 FA intake; low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c): 1.2 higher for LA; hypertriglyceridemia: 0.7 lower for SFA and ω-3 FA intake. Conclusions: Dietary fats played different role on MetS components of high CVD risk patients. Dietary fat intake was associated with higher risk of hyperglycemia
Stellar kinematics across the Hubble sequence in the CALIFA survey: general properties and aperture corrections

comprises 300 galaxies displaying a wide range of morphologies across the Hubble sequence, from ellipticals to late-type spirals.
This dataset allows us to homogeneously extract stellar kinematics up to several effective radii. In this paper, we describe the level of
completeness of this subset of galaxies with respect to the full CALIFA sample, as well as the virtues and limitations of the kinematic
extraction compared to other well-known integral-field surveys. In addition, we provide averaged integrated velocity dispersion radial
profiles for different galaxy types, which are particularly useful to apply aperture corrections for single aperture measurements or
poorly resolved stellar kinematics of high-redshift sources. The work presented in this paper sets the basis for the study of more
