    Théorie du complot et la communication politique en Corée du Sud

    With the revolution of communication tools, we are experiencing more than ever easy access to the information. However, that does not mean that people communicate better than before: the essence of the communication is not to inform oneself, but to understand each other, to live better together. The primary role of politicians is to promote an institutional environment to live better together. However, their efforts to win the trust from the citizens seem to be ineffective. the communication between politicians and citizens became more difficult than ever, they even refuse to understand each other. To try to find out why, we analyzed a Korean political scandal occurred in 2008, known as "the power abuse case of the Minister of Justice". As an analysis resource, we used minutes of parliamentary plenary sessions about this power abuse scandal to analyze Korean MPs arguments. Our result shows that most of conservative MPs’ arguments are based on conspiracy theory. This is the one of the main reasons why the communication between the politicians and citizens are so difficult. Because conspiracy theory is only trying to find the responsible in their enemies rather than the real reasons of the problem and resolve them.     Improving Polarity Classification for Financial News Using Semantic Similarity Techniques

    This article discusses polarity classification for financial news articles. The proposed Semantic Sentiment Analyser makes use of semantic similarity techniques, sentiment composition rules, and the Positivity/Negativity (P/N) ratio in performing polarity classification. An experiment was conducted to compare the performance of three semantic similarity metrics namely HSO, LESK, and LIN to find the semantically similar pair of word as the input word. The best similarity technique (HSO) is incorporated into the sentiment analyser to find the possible polarity carrier from the analysed text before performing polarity classification. The performance of the proposed Semantic Sentiment Analyser was evaluated using a set of manually annotated financial news articles. The results obtained from the experiment showed that the proposed SSA was able to achieve an F-Score of 90.89% for all cases classification

    Preliminary work on coconut milk fouling deposits study

    The characterizations of coconut milk fouling deposits formed during pasteurization process at temperature from 70 to 80ºC were investigated. Both in-situ (using lab-scale plate heat exchanger) and ex-situ methods (using shakable water bath) were applied in preparing the fouling sample and for cleaning study. A few microanalyses such as proximate analysis, texture analysis and microstructure analysis were carried out to examine the characteristics of the coconut milk fouling deposits. Selection of raw material and determination of the optimal process parameters for pasteurization process were done to obtain a typical pasteurization condition as applied in the coconut milk product industry in Malaysia. The changes of the overall heat transfer coefficient (U) during the process were studied. The removal/cleaning of coconut milk fouling deposit was also studied at 80°C, 2 LPM and with 2 %V/V hydroxide of alkaline solution (optimal condition obtained from ex-situ method). The results indicate that fouling period was occurred during coconut milk pasteurization and it caused a resistance to heat transfer. Coconut milk fouling deposit which contains of high fat content (29.25%) can be removed by applying single stage clean-in-place (CIP) method with alkaline solution.     Improving the Accuracy of Stock Price Prediction using Ensemble Neural Network.

    This paper describes performance of different classifiers (established/combinations/new prediction methods) that are used in predicting stock price. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was chosen as the target candidates for the forecasting model in this work because of its ability to solve complex problems such as the stock price prediction. We experimented three types of neural network namely Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN), Elman Recurrent Neural Network (ERNN), Jordan Recurrent Neural Network (JRNN) and compared their predictions’ accuracy. We then designed an ensemble neural network that combined FFNN, JRNN and ERNN using bagging method to build a more accurate predictive model. Based on the results obtained, our proposed ENN outperformed the other ANNs by achieving the highest prediction’s accuracy

    PBEQ-Solver for online visualization of electrostatic potential of biomolecules

    PBEQ-Solver provides a web-based graphical user interface to read biomolecular structures, solve the Poisson-Boltzmann (PB) equations and interactively visualize the electrostatic potential. PBEQ-Solver calculates (i) electrostatic potential and solvation free energy, (ii) protein–protein (DNA or RNA) electrostatic interaction energy and (iii) pKa of a selected titratable residue. All the calculations can be performed in both aqueous solvent and membrane environments (with a cylindrical pore in the case of membrane). PBEQ-Solver uses the PBEQ module in the biomolecular simulation program CHARMM to solve the finite-difference PB equation of molecules specified by users. Users can interactively inspect the calculated electrostatic potential on the solvent-accessible surface as well as iso-electrostatic potential contours using a novel online visualization tool based on MarvinSpace molecular visualization software, a Java applet integrated within CHARMM-GUI (http://www.charmm-gui.org). To reduce the computational time on the server, and to increase the efficiency in visualization, all the PB calculations are performed with coarse grid spacing (1.5 Å before and 1 Å after focusing). PBEQ-Solver suggests various physical parameters for PB calculations and users can modify them if necessary. PBEQ-Solver is available at http://www.charmm-gui.org/input/pbeqsolver

    Comparative Angiogenic Activities of Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived from Young and Old Mice

    Advanced age is associated with decreased stem cell activity. However, the effect of aging on the differentiation capacity of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells into cardiovascular cells has not been fully clarified. We investigated whether iPS cells derived from young and old mice are equally capable of differentiating into vascular progenitor cells, and whether these cells regulate vascular responses in vivo. iPS cells from mouse embryonic fibroblasts (young) or 21 month-old mouse bone marrow (old) were used. Fetal liver kinase-1 positive (Flk-1+) cells, as a vascular progenitor marker, were induced after 3 to 4 days of culture from iPS cells derived from young and old mice. These Flk-1+ cells were sorted and shown to differentiate into VE-cadherin+ endothelial cells and α-SMA+ smooth muscle cells. Tube-like formation was also successfully induced in both young and old murine Flk-1+ cells. Next, hindlimb ischemia was surgically induced, and purified Flk-1+ cells were directly injected into ischemic hindlimbs of nude mice. Revascularization of the ischemic hindlimb was significantly accelerated in mice transplanted with Flk-1+ cells derived from iPS cells from either young or old mice, as compared to control mice as evaluated by laser Doppler blood flowmetry. The degree of revascularization was similar in the two groups of ischemic mice injected with iPS cell-derived Flk-1+ cells from young or old mice. Transplantation of Flk-1+ cells from both young and old murine iPS cells also increased the expression of VEGF, HGF and IGF mRNA in ischemic tissue as compared to controls. iPS cell-derived Flk-1+ cells differentiated into vascular progenitor cells, and regulated angiogenic vascular responses both in vitro and in vivo. These properties of iPS cells derived from old mice are essentially the same as those of iPS cells from young mice, suggesting the functionality of generated iPS cells themselves to be unaffected by aging

    Effect of Transforming Growth Factor-β3 on mono and multilayer chondrocytes

    Articular cartilage is an avascular and flexible connective tissue found in joints. It produces a cushioning effect at the joints and provides low friction to protect the ends of the bones from wear and tear/damage. It has poor repair capacity and any injury can result pain and loss of mobility. Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a cytokine superfamily, regulates cell function, including differentiation and proliferation. Although the function of the TGF-βs in various cell types has been investigated, their function in cartilage repair is as yet not fully understood. The effect of TGF-β3 in biological regulation of primary chondrocyte was investigated in this work. TGF-β3 provide fibroblastic morphology to chondrocytes and therefore overall reduction in cell proliferation was observed. The length of the cells supplemented with TGF-β3 were larger than the cells without TGF-β3 treatment. This was caused by the fibroblast like cells (dedifferentiated chondrocytes) which occupied larger areas compared to cells without TGF-β3 addition. The healing process of the model wound closure assay of chondrocyte multilayer was slowed down by TGF-β3, and this cytokine negatively affected the strength of chondrocyte adhesion to the cell culture surface

    Simulation of the many-body dynamical quantum Hall effect in an optical lattice

    We propose an experimental scheme to simulate the many-body dynamical quantum Hall effect with ultra-cold bosonic atoms in a one-dimensional optical lattice. We first show that the required model Hamiltonian of a spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain with an effective magnetic field and tunable parameters can be realized in this system. For dynamical response to ramping the external fields, the quantized plateaus emerge in the Berry curvature of the interacting atomic spin chain as a function of the effective spin-exchange interaction. The quantization of this response in the parameter space with the interaction-induced topological transition characterizes the many-body dynamical quantum Hall effect. Furthermore, we demonstrate that this phenomenon can be observed in practical cold-atom experiments with numerical simulations.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures; accepted in Quantum Information Processin
