Simulation of hydro-formability testing for tubes

With the development of dedicated tubular products for hydroforming, the need for a representative\ud test for these products evolves. Currently free expansion tests are used, but these tests only follow a more\ud or less plane strain deformation. In reality, hydroforming is used with end feeding and the plane strain deformation\ud is not representative. By performing a number of tests with different positive and negative end feeding a\ud forming limit curve can be constructed, dedicated to tubular hydroforming.\ud In the paper simulations are presented for the tests with different end feeding conditions, using shell elements.\ud The influence of material parameters is investigated. Results of the FEM analysis are comparable with results\ud from a Marciniak–Kuczynksi analysis. Some salient differences can be attributed to the more realistic incorporation\ud of boundary conditions in the FEM analysis. In the tensile/compression region, the M–K analysis requires\ud a free displacement perpendicular to the main principal strain to have a neck developed at a specific angle to the\ud loading direction. In a hydroforming test the lateral displacement of the sheet would result in a rotation along\ud the tube axis, which is prevented by the seals. The constraint displacement results in a higher forming limi

This paper argues that a pair of bronze tweezers, also known as a curling tong or ‘composite tool’, from the Tomb of the architect Kha at Deir el Medina may reflect early Egyptian relations with the Mycenaean world. Though the objects such as these were known and manufactured in Egypt for several centuries before the burial of Kha, the shape of this particular object, which is now in the Egyptian Museum of Turin, is remarkable and betrays Mycenaean stylistic influence. This notion is further supported by other Aegean elements in the Tomb of Kha and elsewhere at Deir el Medina

Intensity of the stimulus rather than its affective meaning elicts changes in EEG recorded frontal alpha asymmetry

    Get PDF
A constantly growing body of literature has so far not reached a common understanding of which aspects of the affective state modulate frontal EEG alpha asymmetry. To explore these effects the monetary incentives delay paradigm was modified to enable direct comparison between the most prominent dimensions of emotion (valence, approach-avoidance, motivational intensity). The intensity of the stimulus was varied through a separate independent variable indicating the stakes (high/low) participants were playing for. The results showed no emotion dimension having a significant effect on the changes in the EEG recorded frontal alpha asymmetry scores during stimulus presentation. Analysis did however reveal the stimulus intensity having a significant effect on the change in asymmetry scores remaining even after accounting for stable and situational individual differences. These results lead to the conclusion that emotional stimulus intensity rather than their affective meaning can affect the changes in frontal alpha asymmetry scores elicited by an emotional stimulus.http://www.ester.ee/record=b4509753*es

Today, global environmental problems have become one of the most important international issues. The current Master’s thesis is about international environmental and political cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region after World War II. The Baltic Sea is surrounded by nine states and the degradation of the marine environment of the Baltic Sea has become a common problem. However, international environmental cooperation depends on many political factors: financial support, international organizations, attitude of states, international law and status of environmental issues in the international arena. The Master’s thesis focuses on different forms of political cooperation which have influenced international governance in the Baltic Sea area. These forms of political cooperation include the Cold War political situation, the division between the East and the West, increased cooperation after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Helsinki Commission and the European Union. International environmental cooperation needs appropriate political environment where states around a sea have incentives and will to protect the environment. The Baltic Sea is a good example of international governance of maritime environment.http://tartu.ester.ee/record=b2620914~S1*es
