    Calidad de liderazgo en la formación inicial

    The aim of the article is to identify the kind of leadership in first-year students in the Degree of Sport and Exercise Sciences, who will become leaders of human team-groups. The sample is constitute by 112 students; 76 (67.9 %) are men and 36 (32.1 %) are women. The spanish version of Cuestionario de Liderazgo Multifactorial was provided to them. The results show a greatest idealized influence (attribution) with the average of 2.86, while the Laissez Faire behavior got 1.29 which can be categorize as merely symbolic. It determines that the sample students use preferably the transformational model, closely followed by the transactional one. The later fact will have an effect on the human team-groups they could lead, answering then, to the rising organizational contexts that mainly demand actions-qualities-attributes to be present in this model.  El objetivo del artículo es identificar el estilo de liderazgo de los alumnos de primer curso de Grado en Ciencias de la Actividad Física y Deporte, futuros líderes de grupos-equipos humanos. La muestra está formada por 112 alumnos, de los que 76 (67,9%) son hombres y 36 (32,1%) mujeres. Se administró la versión española del Cuestionario de Liderazgo Multifactorial. Los resultados muestran una mayor influencia idealizada (atribución) con una media de 2,86, mientras que la conducta Laissez Faire obtuvo unos valores casi testimoniales de 1,29 puntos.  Determinar que los alumnos de la muestra utilizan preferentemente el modelo transformacional, seguido muy de cerca por el transaccional. Este hecho repercutirá positivamente en los grupos-equipos humanos que puedan dirigir, respondiendo así, a los emergentes contextos organizativos que demandan principalmente acciones-cualidades-atributos presentes en dicho modelo

    Physical activity and leisure habits and relation with Ruffier index in adolescents

    El objetivo del estudio fue medir y correlacionar la práctica de actividad física y con el Índice de Ruffier (IR) en adolescentes. A un total de 884 alumnos (edad=16,4±0,8 años) se les midió la actividad física con la Versión modificada del Assessment of Physical Activity Level Questionnaire (APALQ) y se evaluó la capacidad de adaptación al esfuerzo mediante el Test Ruffier. La media del Índice de Ruffier fue 11,1±4,6 y el Índice de actividad física (IAF) 13,8±4,4. Las relaciones entre IAF y el IR, y entre horas de ocio sedentario e IR resultaron ser significativas aunque débiles (r=-0,31; p=0,000). En el IR los chicos presentaron valores superiores (t= -8,78; p= 0,000) a las chicas. También destinan más tiempo a la práctica de AF y estas diferencias fueron significativas en AF reglada y no reglada y en participación en competición (p=0,000), mientras que las chicas destinan más tiempo a actividades sedentarias como leer y estudiar (p=0,000).     Epigenetic and post-transcriptional regulation of somatostatin receptor subtype 5 (SST5 ) in pituitary and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

    Somatostatin receptor subtype 5 (SST5 ) is an emerging biomarker and actionable target in pituitary (PitNETs) and pancreatic (PanNETs) neuroendocrine tumors. Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of SSTR5 gene expression and mRNA biogenesis is poorly understood. Recently, an overlapping natural antisense transcript, SSTR5-AS1, potentially regulating SSTR5 expression, was identified. We aimed to elucidate whether epigenetic processes contribute to the regulation of SSTR5 expression in PitNETs (somatotropinomas) and PanNETs. We analyzed the SSTR5/SSTR5-AS1 human locus in silico to identify CpG islands. SSTR5 and SSTR5-AS1 expression was assessed by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) in 27 somatotropinomas, 11 normal pituitaries (NPs), and 15 PanNETs/paired adjacent (control) samples. We evaluated methylation grade in four CpG islands in the SSTR5/SSTR5-AS1 genes. Results revealed that SSTR5 and SSTR5-AS1 were directly correlated in NP, somatotropinoma and PanNET samples. Interestingly, selected CpG islands were differentially methylated in somatotropinomas compared with NPs. In PanNETs cell lines, SSTR5-AS1 silencing downregulated SSTR5 expression, altered aggressiveness features, and influenced pasireotide response. These results provide evidence that SSTR5 expression in PitNETs and PanNETs can be epigenetically regulated by the SSTR5-AS1 antisense transcript and, indirectly, by DNA methylation, which may thereby impact tumor behavior and treatment response

    Significance of Soil Lightness Versus Physicochemical Soil Properties in Semiarid Areas

One of those attributes is soil color, which allows determining important soil variables for crop management and soil conservation. In this study, the relationships between lightness and several pedologic, topographic, and soil management variables were determined. One hundred and ten topsoil points were sampled in an area where the Mediterranean climate is the only homogeneous soil forming factor. Soil samples were air dried, crushed, and sieved, and lightness measurements were made using a trichromatic colorimeter. The relationships between lightness and soil-related parameters were carried out by means of bivariate linear correlation, and Mann-Witney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Soil textural fractions (sand and silt), electrical conductivity and carbonates were statistically significant (p<0.001) and exhibited moderate correlation coefficients (0.32 0.45). Topographic variables (slope and aspect), soil organic carbon, iron, nitrogen, pH, and parent material (marls) exhibited lower effect on lightness. The response of lightness to clay content was highly conditioned by iron content. Stoniness, phosphorous, elevation, and soil management variables (irrigation and land use) were not statistically significant.     Constraints on Supersymmetric Theories from μe,γ\mu\to e,\gamma

    In the absence of any additional assumption it is natural to conjecture that sizeable flavour-mixing mass entries, Δm2\Delta m^2, may appear in the mass matrices of the scalars of the MSSM, i.e. Δm2O(m2)\Delta m^2\sim O(m^2). This flavour violation can still be reconciled with the experiment if the gaugino mass, M1/2M_{1/2}, is large enough, leading to a {\em gaugino dominance} framework (i.e. M1/22m2M_{1/2}^2\gg m^2), which permits a remarkably model--independent analysis. We study this possibility focussing our attention on the μe,γ\mu\rightarrow e,\gamma decay. In this way we obtain very strong and general constraints, in particular \frac{M_{1/2}^2}{\Delta m}\simgt 34\ {\rm TeV}. On the other hand, we show that our analysis and results remain valid for values of m2m^2 much larger than Δm2\Delta m^2, namely for \frac{\Delta m^2}{m^2}\simgt \frac{m^2} {10\ {\rm TeV^2}}, thus extending enormously their scope of application.     Preventive Conservation and Restoration Monitoring of Heritage Buildings Based on Fuzzy Logic

    This article discusses the usability of the Art-Risk 3.0 software for research on the conservation of heritage buildings. It is a new and free software based on fuzzy logic, which enables the assessment of preventive conservation and surveillance of the restoration of heritage buildings over a period of time. This artificial intelligence-based tool considers the vulnerability of buildings, their environ ments, and their management to evaluate the necessity of their restoration or preventive con servation. To validate the Art-Risk 3.0, 500 theoretical case studies were analyzed, and a 14th century Mudejar-Gothic-style Church in Seville, Spain was studied both before and after its restora tion to identify post-restoration changes. This proof of concept demonstrates the capability of the Art-Risk 3.0 software to analyze environmental impacts on the vulnerability, risk, and functional service life of buildings, and assess the effectiveness of restoration activities.     In1-ghrelin splicing variant is overexpressed in pituitary adenomas and increases their aggressive features

    Pituitary adenomas comprise a heterogeneous subset of pathologies causing serious comorbidities, which would benefit from identification of novel, common molecular/cellular biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The ghrelin system has been linked to development of certain endocrine-related cancers. Systematic analysis of the presence and functional implications of some components of the ghrelin system, including native ghrelin, receptors and the recently discovered splicing variant In1-ghrelin, in human normal pituitaries (n 5 11) and pituitary adenomas (n 5 169) revealed that expression pattern of ghrelin system suffers a clear alteration in pituitary adenomasas comparedwith normal pituitary, where In1-ghrelin is markedly overexpressed. Interestingly, in cultured pituitary adenoma cells In1-ghrelin treatment (acylated peptides at 100 nM; 24–72 h) increasedGHandACTHsecretion, Ca21 and ERK1/2 signaling and cell viability, whereas In1-ghrelin silencing (using a specific siRNA; 100 nM) reduced cell viability. These results indicate that an alteration of the ghrelin system, specially its In1-ghrelin variant, could contribute to pathogenesis of different pituitary adenomas types, and suggest that this variant and its related ghrelin system could provide new tools to identify novel, more general diagnostic, prognostic and potential therapeutic targets in pituitary tumors

    Genetic Effects on Transcriptome Profiles in Colon Epithelium Provide Functional Insights for Genetic Risk Loci

    Background & aims: The association of genetic variation with tissue-specific gene expression and alternative splicing guides functional characterization of complex trait-associated loci and may suggest novel genes implicated in disease. Here, our aims were as follows: (1) to generate reference profiles of colon mucosa gene expression and alternative splicing and compare them across colon subsites (ascending, transverse, and descending), (2) to identify expression and splicing quantitative trait loci (QTLs), (3) to find traits for which identified QTLs contribute to single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based heritability, (4) to propose candidate effector genes, and (5) to provide a web-based visualization resource. Methods: We collected colonic mucosal biopsy specimens from 485 healthy adults and performed bulk RNA sequencing. We performed genome-wide SNP genotyping from blood leukocytes. Statistical approaches and bioinformatics software were used for QTL identification and downstream analyses. Results: We provided a complete quantification of gene expression and alternative splicing across colon subsites and described their differences. We identified thousands of expression and splicing QTLs and defined their enrichment at genome-wide regulatory regions. We found that part of the SNP-based heritability of diseases affecting colon tissue, such as colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, but also of diseases affecting other tissues, such as psychiatric conditions, can be explained by the identified QTLs. We provided candidate effector genes for multiple phenotypes. Finally, we provided the Colon Transcriptome Explorer web application. Conclusions: We provide a large characterization of gene expression and splicing across colon subsites. Our findings provide greater etiologic insight into complex traits and diseases influenced by transcriptomic changes in colon tissue
