This is an Author's Accepted Manuscript of an article published in the International Journal of Production Research [© Taylor & Francis], available online at: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00207543.2011.627885.Production-centric international standards are intended to serve as an important route towards information sharing across manufacturing decision support systems. As a consequence of textual-based definitions of concepts acknowledged within these standards, their inability to fully interoperate becomes an issue especially since a multitude of standards are required to cover the needs of extensive domains such as manufacturing industries. To help reinforce the current understanding to support the consolidation of production-centric standards for improved information sharing, this article explores the specification of well-defined core concepts which can be used as a basis for capturing tailored semantic definitions. The potentials of two heavyweight ontological approaches, notably Common Logic (CL) and the Web Ontology Language (OWL) as candidates for the task, are also exposed. An important finding regarding these two methods is that while an OWL-based approach shows capabilities towards applications which may require flexible hierarchies of concepts, a CL-based method represents a favoured contender for scoped and facts-driven manufacturing applications

History of the International Organization for Biological Control Global Working Group on Mass Rearing and Quality Assurance

The International Organization for Biological Control Global Working Group on Mass Rearing and Quality Assurance (MRQA) was established in 1980 as the Working Group on Quality Control (WGQC) to assure success of insect mass rearing for pest management that was being developed in the 1950s and 1960s. Due mostly to the efforts of WGQC, quality control became institutionalized in several insect mass rearing facilities during the 1980s. After addressing autocidal control programs, the WGQC concentrated on entomophagous insects, especially testing the quality of commercial biological control products. Universal Implementation of Quality Control for Mass-Reared Arthropods was finally achieved in the 1990s, having encompassed all aspects from insect production to field application and evaluation. This increased scope prompted a name change from WGQC to Arthropod Mass Rearing and Quality Control (AMRQC). Subsequently, the scope of the Working Group was expanded again and it was renamed MRQA to include a range of applications for mass-reared beneficial invertebrates. The geographic range of MRQA recently was extended beyond North and South America and Europe to include India. This expansion continued as insects for food and feed, networking and instruction, and legal and ethical issues were added to the most recent workshop held in Mexico. Thus, the MRQA continues to evolve as additional invertebrate organisms are mass produced for both established and novel applications

Opinnäytetyöni tarkoituksena on seurata omaa harjoittelua ja esiintymistä, ja tämän seurannan avulla oppia harjoittelemaan tehokkaammin. Kuvaan opinnäytetyössäni valmistautumista B-tutkinto suoritukseen Helsingin Ammattikorkeakoulu Metropoliassa. The main aim of the following thesis is to learn how to practice and perform better and more effective. In this work I describe my preparation for B-course in Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. It helps me to follow the changes appear during the learning process by keeping learning diary where I memorize its main points. In the beginning of the thesis I describe the starting point of my professional studies and the main things influencing me at that moment. In the chapters 2-4 I try to approach the influence of daily procedures, reflections and conclusions on the professional musician. I describe different situations where I try to learn selected pieces by planning my practicing schedule and following it. One of the goals is to find my strengths and weaknesses, and to make the decisions that help me to make my learning process more effective. The main topic of this part is the importance of planning and complying the learning process. This work helps me to plan my practicing in order to become more effective and save time. In the chapter 4 I consider the performing. I describe the preparation, suspense, and the feelings that can affect the musician before the concert. The main goal of this chapter is to approach the performing of the professional musician, and to learn how to control suspense and feelings. In the last chapters 5-7 I analyze the situations of the learning process and try to find the ways to improve them. The main goal of the following thesis is to improve my own musical skills and help people who enjoy music and desire to become professionals in the future
