La prévention des problèmes sociaux : réalité québécoise

Les modèles de prévention actuels et leurs stratégies d'action contribuent-ils à une diminution importante et durable des problèmes sociaux? La réponse à cette question suppose qu'on examine la représentation des problèmes sociaux, les cibles et les contextes de prévention, la dimension de précocité de l'action ainsi que les stratégies privilégiées. Les développements théoriques actuels permettent d'acquérir une vision liant la résolution de problèmes individuels et celle de problèmes sociaux. Les auteurs dégagent enfin une première esquisse de la prévention sociale. La conjoncture actuelle nous laisse croire à une évolution intéressante de ce secteur dans la prochaine décennie

Associations between dietary inflammatory scores and biomarkers of inflammation in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort

Background: Since the first version of the dietary inflammatory index (DII & REG;) developed in the past decade, several other versions have been developed. However, to date no study has attempted to compare these versions with respect to their associations with biomarkers of inflammation. Objective: We aimed to investigate the relationship between four dietary inflammatory scores [DII, two energy-adjusted derivatives (E-DII and E-DIIr), and the Inflammatory Score of the Diet (ISD)], and circulating levels of several inflammatory markers and adipokines. Methods: This study included 17 637 participants from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort with at least one marker of inflammation measured in blood. Associations between the four scores and C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)6, IL10, IL1RA, tumor necrosis factor-a (TNFa), soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-1 (sTNFR1), sTNFR2, leptin, soluble leptin receptor (sLeptin R), adiponectin, and High Molecular Weight (HMW) adiponectin were evaluated using multivariable linear regressions adjusted for potential confounders. Results: Positive associations were observed between the four dietary inflammatory scores and levels of CRP, IL6, sTNFR1, sTNFR2 and leptin. However, only the DII and the ISD were positively associated with IL1RA levels and only the DII and the E-DIIr were positively associated with TNFa levels. The proportion of variance of each biomarker explained by the scores was lower than 2%, which was equivalent to the Conclusions: Our results suggest that the four dietary inflammatory scores were associated with some biomarkers of inflammation and could be used to assess the inflammatory potential of diet in European adults but are not sufficient to capture the inflammatory status of an individual. These findings can help to better understand the inflammatory potential of diet, but they need to be replicated in studies with repeated dietary measurements. Des déportés aux marges de la mémoire collective : les communistes arrêtés durant le pacte germano-soviétique

National audienceParmi les communistes déportés dans les prisons et les camps de concentration du Reich, certains ont été arrêtés durant le pacte germano-soviétique, c'est-à-dire avant que le parti communiste clandestin ne s'engage dans la lutte armée contre l'occupant. Le cas de ces déportés étant peu connu, on peut s'interroger sur la reconnaissance qu'ils ont obtenue après-guerre. L'étude des statuts de déporté qui leur sont attribués dévoile le décalage entre les déportés et leur famille qui tendent à demander le statut de déporté résistant et les pouvoirs publics qui tendent à leur attribuer celui de déporté politique. Le statut de déporté résistant est attribué selon un cadre législatif restreint mais aussi selon un distinguo entre activité résistante et activité politique qui repose sur une définition partielle et partisane de la Résistance. Si des déportés, des familles crient à l'anticommunisme, certaines demandes et certaines attestations de résistance sont toutefois discutables

Changing the color of textiles with realistic visual rendering

International audienceFast and easy preview of a fabric without having to produce samples would be very profitable for textile designers, but remains a technological challenge. As a first step towards this objective, we study the possibility of making images of a real sample, and changing virtually the colors of its yarns while preserving the shine and shadow texture. We consider two types of fabrics: Jacquard weave fabrics made of polyester warp and weft yarns of different colors, and satin ribbons made of polyester and metallic yarns. For the Jacquard fabric, we make a color picture with a scanner on a sample in which the yarns have contrasted colors, threshold this image in order to distinguish the pixels corresponding to each yarn, and accordingly modify their hue and chroma values. This method is simple to operate but do not enable to simulate the angle-dependent shine. A second method, tested on the satin ribbon made of black polyester and achromatic metallic yarns, is based on polarized imaging. We analyze the polarization state of the reflected light which is different for dielectric and metallic materials illuminated by polarized light. We then add a fixed color value to the pixels representing the polyester yarns and modify the hue and chroma of the pixels representing the metallic yarns. This was performed for many incident angles of light, in order to render the twinkling effect displayed by these ribbons. We could verify through a few samples that the simulated previews reproduce real pictures with visually acceptable accuracy
