Currently, there are continuous complaints about the dissatisfaction of patients in the process of service in different health facilities, it should be noted that this situation is mostly reported in public institutions. That is why a study will be carried out that aims to determine if the application of the Lean Value Stream Mapping will improve the patient care process in a public health service institution, Lima 2019; with the purpose of identifying those activities that do not add value to the process or that generate bottlenecks in the care service from the patient's admission to the diagnosis of the medical specialist, through pharmacy and laboratory. After that, propose a future flow map that improves the waiting times of the process to receive the service, using the ideal cycle time, line balancing, the pull system, and the application of the following Lean Manufacturing techniques: 5S and Kanban. At the end of the investigation, it was allowed to know that the implementation of said tool has allowed to improve the attention process, because the waiting and attention times of the different activities studied were reduced, as well as efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the process, which were checked by comparing the calculations of the current and future indicators of the dependent variable.Trabajo de investigaciónCampus Lima Centr

Evidence for widespread hydrated minerals on asteroid (101955) Bennu

    Get PDF
Early spectral data from the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) mission reveal evidence for abundant hydrated minerals on the surface of near-Earth asteroid (101955) Bennu in the form of a near-infrared absorption near 2.7 µm and thermal infrared spectral features that are most similar to those of aqueously altered CM-type carbonaceous chondrites. We observe these spectral features across the surface of Bennu, and there is no evidence of substantial rotational variability at the spatial scales of tens to hundreds of metres observed to date. In the visible and near-infrared (0.4 to 2.4 µm) Bennu’s spectrum appears featureless and with a blue (negative) slope, confirming previous ground-based observations. Bennu may represent a class of objects that could have brought volatiles and organic chemistry to Earth

The dynamic geophysical environment of (101955) Bennu based on OSIRIS-REx measurements

The top-shaped morphology characteristic of asteroid (101955) Bennu, often found among fast-spinning asteroids and binary asteroid primaries, may have contributed substantially to binary asteroid formation. Yet a detailed geophysical analysis of this morphology for a fast-spinning asteroid has not been possible prior to the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) mission. Combining the measured Bennu mass and shape obtained during the Preliminary Survey phase of the OSIRIS-REx mission, we find a notable transition in Bennu’s surface slopes within its rotational Roche lobe, defined as the region where material is energetically trapped to the surface. As the intersection of the rotational Roche lobe with Bennu’s surface has been most recently migrating towards its equator (given Bennu’s increasing spin rate), we infer that Bennu’s surface slopes have been changing across its surface within the last million years. We also find evidence for substantial density heterogeneity within this body, suggesting that its interior is a mixture of voids and boulders. The presence of such heterogeneity and Bennu’s top shape are consistent with spin-induced failure at some point in its past, although the manner of its failure cannot yet be determined. Future measurements by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will provide insight into and may resolve questions regarding the formation and evolution of Bennu’s top-shape morphology and its link to the formation of binary asteroids

Validating a Masculinity Scale in a Non-College Sample

Sexual assault in the United States is prevalent. One out of every six American women has been the victim of an attempted rape or complete rape. Previous research demonstrates that hypermasculine attitudes are positively predictive of sexual aggression toward women. In these studies, researchers have continued to utilize outdated and inappropriate measures like the Hypermasculinity Inventory (1984) to assess hypermasculinity. Measures that assess hypermasculinity have only been validated on college samples. A modern measure of masculinity is the Auburn Differential Masculinity Inventory-23 (Burk, Burkhart, & Sikorski, 2004), which has been validated in college samples. The present research evaluated the psychometric properties of the Auburn Differential Masculinity Inventory (ADMI-23) with a non-college student sample using Prolific, an online platform for independent contractors to complete surveys. Participants were 377 individuals who self-identified as heterosexual males that were not enrolled in a college or university institution. Results showed that the four-factor model that underlies that ADMI-23 provided a good description of how the ADMI-23 items relate to each other. The non-college sample reported low levels of masculinity. Additionally, the observed scores from the ADMI-23 and its subscales demonstrated convergent and discriminant validity

A Critical Analysis on Mexican Americans Associated with Gangs Living in San Antonio, Texas

The U.S has a major national concern of mass incarceration. Mass incarceration poses a threat to achieve health equity as there are many adverse health effects documented related to incarceration (i.e., posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, etc.,). There is a great need to conduct research on incarceration with a critical lens. The present study examined the incarceration trajectories of Mexican American men who were associated with gangs during their youth and lived in the west side of San Antonio. This cohort of males were followed at three different timepoints in their life using retrospective data. The study spanned from 1997-2012. To identify latent classes, growth mixture modeling was utilized. The results indicated two latent classes of incarceration. One-way ANOVAs, chi-square tests of independence and a one-way MANOVA were conducted to determine associations with the latent classes. The one-way MANOVA yielded statistically significant differences between the two classes on depression and behavioral risk violence. These findings contribute to the literature and give researchers a better understanding of the heterogeneity of individuals who are incarcerated. The findings have important implications for ensuring mental health providers are fully equipped to treat formerly incarcerated individuals

Self-identification as a moderator of the relationship between gambling-related perceived norms and gambling behavior.

This research was designed to evaluate social influences and perceived social norms on gambling behavior among undergraduate students. Furthermore, this research was designed to replicate and extend previous research demonstrating that young adults overestimate the prevalence of gambling among peers, and that the magnitude of overestimation is positively associated with own use (Larimer and Neighbors, Psychol Addict Behav 17:235–243, 2003). We expected that; (1) gambling college students would identify more strongly with other gambling students compared to other students in general; (2) identification with other gambling students would predict gambling behaviors over and above perceived prevalence of gambling; and (3) identification with other gambling students would moderate the association between perceived social norms and gambling behavior. Participants included 1,486 undergraduate students who completed measures assessing gambling quantity and frequency, gambling-related perceived descriptive norms, and identification with groups. Results revealed that perceived norms for gambling were associated with gambling and revealed that students identified more strongly with other students than either gamblers or student gamblers. However, gambling behavior was more strongly associated with identification with gambling students than students in general. There was consistent support for the perspective that social identity moderates the association between perceived norms for gambling and gambling behavior. This research builds on previous examinations of social influences related to gambling and suggests that it may be important to consider the overall prevalence of a given behavior before considering norms-based intervention approaches. Interventions utilizing social norms for gambling may be advised to consider references other than just the typical student
