Population aging and age-related cardiovascular disease (CVD) are becoming increasingly prevalent worldwide, generating a huge medical and socioeconomic burden. The complex regulation of aging and CVD and the interaction between these processes are crucially dependent on cellular stress responses. Interferon-stimulated gene-15 (ISG15) encodes a ubiquitin-like protein expressed in many vertebrate cell types that can be found both free and conjugated to lysine residues of target proteins via a post-translational process termed ISGylation. Deconjugation of ISG15 (deISGylation) is catalyzed by the ubiquitin-specific peptidase 18 (USP18). The ISG15 pathway has mostly been studied in the context of viral and bacterial infections and in cancer. This minireview summarizes current knowledge on the role of ISG15 in age-related telomere shortening, genomic instability, and DNA damage accumulation, as well as in hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, major CVD risk factors prevalent in the elderly population.VA lab is supported by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN)/Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) (grant PID2019- 108489RB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) with cofund from Fondo Social Europeo “El FSE invierte en tu futuro”, the Progeria Research Foundation (grant PRF2019–77), Asociación Progeria Alexandra Peraut, Fundació Marató TV3 (grant 202033- 31), and Sociedad Española de Cardiología (SEC/FEC-INV-BAS 22/ 005). However, the great majority of these studies have considered "receptive learning", i.e. recall of the Ll equivalent on presentation of the L2 word 1eamt; it is not clear whether keyword methods aid "productive 1eaming", i.e. recall of the L2 word on presentation of its L1 equiva1ent. Here, we report three experiments designed to investigate this question. The experiments considered the possib1e effects of target- word image va1ue and word-list 1ength, and severa different modes of keyword presentation were tested. Our results suggest that the keyword method is in general ineffective for productive L2 word 1eaming, and indeed may have a negative influenc

Nowadays, increasing discipline problems in the classroom have become a concern for teachers and an obstacle for the development of the teaching-learning process. To adequately develop an effective educational intervention, it is essential to distinguish between different types of conflicts and to approach them from different perspectives. This paper presents an analysis of the successive educational Spanish laws, specifically examining the frequency of appearance of those keywords regarding students’ behavior in each law. The responses provided to approach conflict were studied, differentiating from serious misconduct and less serious disruptive behavior. Results show a positive evolution of the Spanish regulations: This is due to the increase of social awareness regarding the importance of creating a favourable school environment to ensure a healthy personal development and better learning. The current law distinguishes misconduct and disruptive behavior and also expresses its concern about the increase in this kind of behavior and provides ways of preventing it. However, further progress is still to be achieved as there is a need for clear guidelines for teachers to properly deal with disruptive behavior. Despite the difficulties that this kind of behavior entail to the learning process, these recommendations are still not laid down despite the difficulties faced by the learning process

Dispersion Entropy: A Measure of Electrohysterographic Complexity for Preterm Labor Discrimination

[EN] Although preterm labor is a major cause of neonatal death and often leaves health sequels in the survivors, there are no accurate and reliable clinical tools for preterm labor prediction. The Electrohysterogram (EHG) has arisen as a promising alternative that provides relevant information on uterine activity that could be useful in predicting preterm labor. In this work, we optimized and assessed the performance of the Dispersion Entropy (DispEn) metric and compared it to conventional Sample Entropy (SampEn) in EHG recordings to discriminate term from preterm deliveries. For this, we used the two public databases TPEHG and TPEHGT DS of EHG recordings collected from women during regular checkups. The 10th, 50th and 90th percentiles of entropy metrics were computed on whole (WBW) and fast wave high (FWH) EHG bandwidths, sweeping the DispEn and SampEn internal parameters to optimize term/preterm discrimination. The results revealed that for both the FWH and WBW bandwidths the best separability was reached when computing the 10th percentile, achieving a p-value (0.00007) for DispEn in FWH, c = 7 and m = 2, associated with lower complexity preterm deliveries, indicating that DispEn is a promising parameter for preterm labor prediction. This work was supported by the Spanish ministry of economy and competitiveness, the European Regional Development Fund (MCIU/AEI/FEDER, UE RTI2018-094449-A-I00-AR) and the Generalitat Valenciana (AICO/2019/220).Nieto-Del-Amor, F.; Ye Lin, Y.; Garcia-Casado, J.; Díaz-Martínez, MDA.; González Martínez, M.; Monfort-Ortiz, R.; Prats-Boluda, G. Management strategies for sustainable invertebrate fisheries in coastal ecosystems of Galicia (NW Spain)

The original publication in avaliable at www. springerlink.comArtisanal coastal invertebrate fisheries in Galicia are socio-economically important and ecologically relevant. Their management, however, has been based on models of fish population dynamics appropriate for highly mobile demersal or pelagic resources and for industrial fisheries. These management systems focus on regulating fishing effort, but in coastal ecosystems activities that change or destruct key habitats may have a greater effect on population abundance than does fishing mortality. The Golfo Artabro was analysed as a representative example of a coastal ecosystem in Galicia, and the spider crab "Maja squinado" used as a model of an exploited coastal invertebrate, for which shallow coastal areas are key habitats for juvenile stages. The commercial legal gillnet fishery for the spider crab harvests adults during their reproductive migrations to deep waters and in their wintering habitats. Illegal fisheries operate in shallow waters. The annual rate of exploitation is higher to 90%, and lower to 10% of the primiparous females reproduce effectively at least once. A simple spatially-explicit cohort model was constructed to simulate the population dynamics of spider crab females. Yield- and egg-per-recruit analyses corresponding to different exploitation regimes were performed to compare management policies directed to control the fishing effort or to protect key habitats. It was found that the protection of juvenile habitats could allow increases in yield and reproductive effort higher than in the present system, with such protection based in the control of the fishing effort of the legal fishery. Additionally, there is an urgent need for alternative research and management strategies in artisanal coastal fisheries based on the implementation of a system of territorial use rights for fishers, the integration of the fishers into assessment and management processes, and the protection of key habitats (marine reserves) as a basic tool for the regulation of the fisheries.Xunta de Galicia; XUGA10301B9

In a personalized education, as required by current education law, complete and effective communication between teachers and each student plays an important role. The more education that is needed, the more communication must be ensured. The higher educational quality is intended, the higher communicative quality is required. Hence, learning to communicate comprehensively and personally is a necessity in the study plans of Primary Education Degrees, as well as in Early Childhood Education and master's degrees that professionally qualify future teachers. This article describes the realization and validation of a questionnaire that allows analyzing the perception of students who finish their studies in the Degree of Primary Education regarding their knowledge of non-verbal elements, their importance and their training in non-verbal communication for the performance of teaching.
