No
Sistema Nacional de Intervenção Precoce na Infância (SNIPI).The construction and evolution of the underlying concepts of Early Intervention
(EI), in which parents/family play a preponderant role in the development of their child,
leads us to the conclusion that their contribution in the early detection of problems is
fundamental. The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) is a reference instrument
studied in different countries and cultures, therefore we realised that research would be
necessary, and could contribute to the validation of the instrument in the Portuguese
population, thus facilitating its future availability in Portuguese (ASQ-PT).
The ASQ – 3rd edition contains 21 questionnaires, divided up into the ages of 2,
4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 42, 48, 54 and 60 months. Each
questionnaire is made up of 30 items divided into the development areas of
communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving and personal-social. After the
completion of the form by the parents/caregivers, the items are rated and the total of
each section of development is compared with two cutoff points. From this comparison
three possible conclusions will arise: 1) the child’s development is within normal
parameters; 2) the child is forwarded to development monitoring; 3) or, lastly, the child
is forwarded to a more specific assessment by a professional.
This study refers to the questionnaires for the ages of 30 to 60 months, and
presents the data from a total sample of 926 individuals, collected in Mainland Portugal
and the Azores Archipelago.
The psychometric measures of the translated version of the ASQ for reliability
and validity were calculated: the first one is inclusive of studies of internal consistency
with the Cronbach coefficient alpha, test-retest and interobserver agreement. The
second one covers factorial analysis, the correlations using the Pearson product
moment or Spearman Rho, and the comparative studies in at-risk samples and with a
sample in therapeutic following.
With regard to reliability, some limitations were noted in the internal
consistency. The Cronbach alpha values of each dimension in each questionnaire
varies between 37 e 80, reflecting in some cases difficulty with regard to the
consistency of the items in each dimension. However, the high level of agreement
between observers is to be noted, as in the test-retest, with normally good and very
good values of correlation in the different dimensions. Regarding the validity, from the factor analysis it was observed that the
organization of the items by factors distances itself, in most questionnaires, from the
original development dimensions, with the exception of the 60 months one. The values
of Pearson’s r or of the Spearman Rho revealed that when the correlations between
the different dimensions of development are observed, these are mostly weak to
moderate, translating the maintenance of their identity. As a contribution to clinical
validity, by comparing the mean between the samples at risk and without risk, it is clear
that the first had a lower mean in almost the totality of the dimensions and ages. In the
data produced by the sample with therapeutic following there is a clear discrepancy in
the mean values obtained in the different dimensions, which translates the
effectiveness of the ASQ in the detection of development problems.
In the comparison between the cutoff points obtained for the Portuguese
population, an increasing trend was noted, when compared with the original instrument.
Besides that, another relevant point is the observation of percentages of children that
were identified as having possible developmental disabilities, going from 4.4% to
12,9% in one dimension of development, and 3,6% to 6,2% in two or more. In total the
ASQ-PT identified 9,2% of children with a need for specific evaluation in one
dimension, and 5,3% in two or more development dimensions.
It is possible to conclude that, although some weaknesses were noted in the
course of the psychometric qualities analysis, the ASQ-PT from 30 to 60 months of age
fulfils the requirements of a screening tool validated for the Portuguese population,
allowing the early identification of children with development problems. It also favours
the parents active participation in this process and answers the need for the early
detection recommended in the Portuguese legislation of the National System for Early
Child Intervention

Positive Psychological Capital as a Predictor of Satisfaction With the Fly-In Fly-Out Model
The flexibility of markets and international agreements have lured a growing number
of companies to expand their business beyond frontiers in search for new markets
and a bigger business network. Specifically, expatriates became keystones to implant
and promote the so desired expansion into international markets, Particularly, Fly-in flyout (FIFO) flexpatriates. Although FIFO work practices are widely used, little is known
about how to promote these professionals’ perceived job satisfaction (JS) across the
course of their work cycles. That is why the goal of our research is to test the positive
psychological capital (PsyCap) applicability to Portuguese FIFO flexpatriates. In the
midst of the positive psychology theories, Luthans et al. (2007b) underline that workers
are the psychological capital of any organization. Therefore, the development of the
PsyCap becomes crucial and also contributes to the promotion of JS, nowadays a
construct intertwined with well-being. As such, we developed and applied a HERO–
(hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism)–micro-intervention in order to assess
whether it moderated the relationship between a FIFO flexpatriates PsyCap and their
JS. The research took place over three distinct moments, both PsyCap and JS were
measured before and after the HERO micro-intervention, and again 3 months later.
The data collected shows that a positive correlation exists between FIFO flexpatriates
PsyCap and JS. Moreover, our results pointed out that the micro-intervention enhanced
FIFO flexpatriates PsyCap, and also showed that this increase lasted over (at least)

4,4′-Di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine
In the title compound, C18H24N2, the molecular unit adopts a trans conformation around the central C—C bond [N—C—C—N torsion angle of 179.2 (3)°], with the two aromatic rings almost coplanar [dihedral angle of only 0.70 (4)°]. The crystal packing is driven by co-operative contacts involving weak C—H⋯N and C—H⋯π interactions, and also the need to fill effectively the available space
Tetrapyridinium μ-oxido-di-μ-sulfato-bis[chloridodioxidomolybdate(VI)]
The title salt, (C5H6N)4[Mo2Cl2O5(SO4)2], comprises four pyridinium cations for each [(MoClO2)2(μ-O)(μ-SO4)2]4− anionic unit. The asymmetric unit consists of three aggregates of the empirical formula. The tetraanionic bimetallic molybdenum(VI) cluster is unprecedented and contains two sulfate and one oxide bridges. This structure constitutes the first example of a non-polymeric compound with terminal oxide, sulfate and halide ligands bonded to the same metal. The hydrogen bonds connecting the pyridinium cations to the molybdenum clusters are diverse, varying from strong and directional interactions to bifurcated bonds with a subsequent loss of directionality
Alarming decline of freshwater trigger species in western Mediterranean key biodiversity areas
The identification of key biodiversity areas (KBA) was initiated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 2004 to overcome taxonomic biases in the selection of important areas for conservation, including freshwater ecosystems. Since then, several KBAs have been identified mainly based on the presence of trigger species (i.e., species that trigger either the vulnerability and or the irreplaceability criterion and thus identify a site as a KBA). However, to our knowledge, many of these KBAs have not been validated. Therefore, classical surveys of the taxa used to identify freshwater KBAs (fishes, molluscs, odonates, and aquatic plants) were conducted in Douro (Iberian Peninsula) and Sebou (Morocco) River basins in the Mediterranean Biodiversity Hotspot. Environmental DNA analyses were undertaken in the Moroccan KBAs. There was a mismatch between the supposed and actual presence of trigger species. None of the trigger species were found in 43% and 50% of all KBAs surveyed in the Douro and Sebou basins, respectively. Shortcomings of freshwater KBA identification relate to flawed or lack of distribution data for trigger species. This situation results from a misleading initial identification of KBAs based on poor (or even inaccurate) ecological information or due to increased human disturbance between initial KBA identification and the present. To improve identification of future freshwater KBAs, we suggest selecting trigger species with a more conservative approach; use of local expert knowledge and digital data (to assess habitat quality, species distribution, and potential threats); consideration of the subcatchment when delineating KBAs boundaries; thoughtful consideration of terrestrial special areas for conservation limits; and periodic field validation.Financial support was provided by the Portuguese Foundation

Immune and spermatogenesis-related loci are involved in the development of extreme patterns of male infertility
We conducted a genome-wide association study in a large population of infertile men due to unexplained spermatogenic failure (SPGF). More than seven million genetic variants were analysed in 1,274 SPGF cases and 1,951 unaffected controls from two independent European cohorts. Two genomic regions were associated with the most severe histological pattern of SPGF, defined by Sertoli cell-only (SCO) phenotype, namely the MHC class II gene HLA-DRB1 (rs1136759, P = 1.32E-08, OR = 1.80) and an upstream locus of VRK1 (rs115054029, P = 4.24E-08, OR = 3.14), which encodes a protein kinase involved in the regulation of spermatogenesis. The SCO-associated rs1136759 allele (G) determines a serine in the position 13 of the HLA-DR beta 1 molecule located in the antigen-binding pocket. Overall, our data support the notion of unexplained SPGF as a complex trait influenced by common variation in the genome, with the SCO phenotype likely representing an immune-mediated condition. A GWAS in a large case-control cohort of European ancestry identifies two genomic regions, the MHC class II gene HLA-DRB1 and an upstream locus of VRK1, that are associated with the most severe phenotype of spermatogenic failure
