    Lujos y Repuestos La 50 es una empresa familiar con 24 años de experiencia en el mercado autopartista, ubicada en el municipio Bello (Antioquia) y con una amplia oferta de repuestos para vehículos livianos. En los últimos años la empresa ha tenido un crecimiento importante, pero sin una estrategia clara; es por ello que se identificó la necesidad de desarrollar un plan estratégico que le permita marcar el rumbo de crecimiento para los próximos años, y así mismo, asegurar la sostenibilidad de la empresa a largo plazo de forma rentable. Con dicho plan estratégico, también se busca fortalecer la propuesta de valor y así seguir entregando dicho valor a sus clientes. Para ello, se realizó un análisis del entorno interno y externo de la organización con herramientas de análisis y de diagnóstico, como: el modelo Pestel, Canvas, las cinco fuerzas de Porter, la cadena de valor y el reloj de Bowman. Así mismo, con entrevistas a personal clave de la organización y con cuestionarios orientados a temas como precios, mercado, competidores, productos, sustitutos, valor percibido, entre otros conceptos clave. Con todo lo anterior, se realiza la propuesta del plan estratégico que permita a la empresa Lujos y Repuestos La 50, orientar y enfocar sus estrategias a futuro para lograr mantenerse y consolidarse en el mercado, entregando al cliente la mejor experiencia de compra y los mejores productos.Lujos y Repuestos La 50 is a family business with 24 years of experience in the auto parts market, located in the Bello municipality (Antioquia) and with a wide range of spare parts for light vehicles. In recent years, the company has had significant growth, but without a clear strategy; that is why the need to develop a strategic plan was identified that allows it to set the course for growth for the coming years, and likewise, ensure the long-term sustainability of the company in a profitable manner. With this strategic plan, it also seeks to strengthen the value proposition and thus continue to deliver said value to its customers. For this, an analysis of the internal and external environment of the organization was carried out with analysis and diagnostic tools such as: the Pestel model, Canvas, Porter's five forces, the value chain and Bowman's watch. Likewise, with interviews with key personnel of the organization and with questionnaires oriented to topics such as prices, market, competitors, products, substitutes, perceived value, among other key concepts. With all of the above, the strategic plan proposal is made that allows the company Lujos y Repuestos La 50, orient and focus its future strategies to maintain and consolidate itself in the market, providing the customer with the best shopping experience and the best products

    En este trabajo, se describe la web www.pvlearning.com, desarrollada en la Universidad de Alcalá para la enseñanza de la energía solar fotovoltaica. PVLEARNING asiste al alumno en la realización de tareas como la evaluación de la radiación solar disponible, la selección de los componentes del sistema, la configuración de éstos y la estimación del rendimiento global y la energía total producida. Frente a otros programas de simulación, la plataforma presenta la novedad de estar enfocada al aprendizaje de la ingeniería de proyectos, sin por ello perder todo el rigor y la funcionalidad necesarios en este tipo de simuladores.This work describes the web www.pvlearning.com, which has been developed at the Universidad de Alcalá for photovoltaic solar energy teaching.     Evaluation of appendicitis risk prediction models in adults with suspected appendicitis

    Background Appendicitis is the most common general surgical emergency worldwide, but its diagnosis remains challenging. The aim of this study was to determine whether existing risk prediction models can reliably identify patients presenting to hospital in the UK with acute right iliac fossa (RIF) pain who are at low risk of appendicitis. Methods A systematic search was completed to identify all existing appendicitis risk prediction models. Models were validated using UK data from an international prospective cohort study that captured consecutive patients aged 16–45 years presenting to hospital with acute RIF in March to June 2017. The main outcome was best achievable model specificity (proportion of patients who did not have appendicitis correctly classified as low risk) whilst maintaining a failure rate below 5 per cent (proportion of patients identified as low risk who actually had appendicitis). Results Some 5345 patients across 154 UK hospitals were identified, of which two‐thirds (3613 of 5345, 67·6 per cent) were women. Women were more than twice as likely to undergo surgery with removal of a histologically normal appendix (272 of 964, 28·2 per cent) than men (120 of 993, 12·1 per cent) (relative risk 2·33, 95 per cent c.i. 1·92 to 2·84; P < 0·001). Of 15 validated risk prediction models, the Adult Appendicitis Score performed best (cut‐off score 8 or less, specificity 63·1 per cent, failure rate 3·7 per cent). The Appendicitis Inflammatory Response Score performed best for men (cut‐off score 2 or less, specificity 24·7 per cent, failure rate 2·4 per cent). Conclusion Women in the UK had a disproportionate risk of admission without surgical intervention and had high rates of normal appendicectomy.     Reducing the environmental impact of surgery on a global scale: systematic review and co-prioritization with healthcare workers in 132 countries

    Abstract Background Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres. Methods This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and low–middle-income countries. Results In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of ‘single-use’ consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for low–middle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia. Conclusion This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both high– and low–middle–income countries
