Detection of a transit by the planetary companion of HD 80606
We report the detection of a transit egress by the ~ 3.9-Jupiter-mass planet
HD 80606b, an object in a highly-eccentric orbit (e ~ 0.93) about its parent
star of approximately solar type. The astrophysical reality of the signal of
variability in HD 80606 is confirmed by observation with two independent
telescope systems, and checks against several reference stars in the field.
Differential photometry with respect to the nearby comparison star HD 80607
provides a precise light curve. Modelling of the light curve with a full
eccentric-orbit model indicates a planet/star-radius ratio of 0.1057 +/-
0.0018, corresponding to a planet radius of 1.029 R_J for a solar-radius parent
star; and a precise orbital inclination of 89.285 +/- 0.023 degrees, giving a
total transit duration of 12.1 +/- 0.4 hours. The planet hence joins HD 17156b
in a class of highly eccentric transiting planets, in which HD 80606b has both
the longest period and most eccentric orbit. The recently reported discovery of
a secondary eclipse of HD 80606b by the Spitzer Space Observatory permits a
combined analysis with the mid-time of primary transit in which the orbital
parameters of the system can be tightly constrained. We derive a transit

Radio Observations of HD 80606 Near Planetary Periastron
This paper reports Very Large Array observations at 325 and 1425 MHz (90cm
and 20cm) during and near the periastron passage of HD 80606b on 2007 November
20. We obtain flux density limits (3-sigma) of 1.7 mJy and 48 microJy at 325
and 1425 MHz, respectively, equivalent to planetary luminosity limits of 2.3 x
10^{24} erg/s and 2.7 x 10^{23} erg/s. These are well above the Jovian value
(at 40 MHz) of 2 x 10^{18} erg/s. The motivation for these observations was
that the planetary magnetospheric emission is driven by a stellar
wind-planetary magnetosphere interaction so that the planetary luminosity would
be elevated. Near periastron, HD 80606b might be as much as 3000 times more
luminous than Jupiter. Recent transit observations of HD 80606b provide
stringent constraints on the planetary mass and radius, and, because of the
planet's highly eccentric orbit, its rotation period is likely to be
"pseudo-synchronized" to its orbital period, allowing a robust estimate of the
former. We are able to make robust estimates of the emission frequency of the
planetary magnetospheric emission and find it to be around 60--90 MHz. We
compare HD 80606b to other high-eccentricity systems and assess the detection
possibilities for both near-term and more distant future systems. Of the known
high eccentricity planets, only HD 80606b is likely to be detectable, as HD
20782B b and HD 4113b are both likely to have weaker magnetic field strengths.
Both the forthcoming "EVLA low band" system and the Low Frequency Array may be
able to improve upon our limits for HD 80606b, and do so at a more optimum
frequency. If the low-frequency component of the Square Kilometre Array
(SKA-lo) and a future lunar radio array are able to approach their thermal
noise limits, they should be able to detect an HD 80606b-like planet, unless
the planet's luminosity increases by substantially less than a factor of 3000.Comment: 9 pages; accepted for publication in A
On the detectability of habitable exomoons with Kepler-class photometry
In this paper we investigate the detectability of a habitable-zone exomoon
around various configurations of exoplanetary systems with the Kepler Mission
or photometry of approximately equal quality. We calculate both the predicted
transit timing signal amplitudes and the estimated uncertainty on such
measurements in order to calculate the confidence in detecting such bodies
across a broad spectrum of orbital arrangements. The effects of stellar
variability, instrument noise and photon noise are all accounted for in the
analysis. We validate our methodology by simulating synthetic lightcurves and
performing a Monte Carlo analysis for several cases of interest.
We find that habitable-zone exomoons down to 0.2 Earth masses may be detected
and ~25,000 stars could be surveyed for habitable-zone exomoons within Kepler's
field-of-view. A Galactic Plane survey with Kepler-class photometry could
potentially survey over one million stars for habitable-zone exomoons. In
conclusion, we propose that habitable exomoons will be detectable should they

Apathy and Its Response to Antipsychotic Review and Nonpharmacological Interventions in People With Dementia Living in Nursing Homes: WHELD, a Factorial Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial

We evaluated the efficacy of nonpharmacological interventions, exercise, and social interaction, in combination with antipsychotic review, to reduce apathy in people with dementia living in nursing homes in a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT). Methods Well-being and health for people with dementia (WHELD) program included a 2 Ă 2 Ă 2 factorial cluster RCT involving people with dementia living in 16 nursing homes in the United Kingdom. All homes received training in person-centered care, and were randomized to receive antipsychotic review, social interaction, and exercise, either alone or in combinations. Apathy was one of the secondary outcomes of the WHELD trial, and it was measured by the Neuropsychiatric Inventoryânursing home version at baseline and 9 months (n = 273). We used multilevel mixed effects linear regression models to assess the impact of the interventions on apathy. Results Prevalence of apathy was 44.0% (n = 120; 95% confidence interval [CI] 38.1%â49.9%) at baseline. Severity of apathy had significant positive correlations with dementia severity, neuropsychiatric symptoms, depressive symptoms, agitation, and the needs of the people with dementia (P < .001). Antipsychotic review reduced antipsychotic use, but it significantly increased apathy (ÎČ = 5.37; SE = 0.91; P < .001). However, antipsychotic review in combination with either social interaction (ÎČ = â5.84; SE = 1.15; P < .001) or exercise (ÎČ = â7.54; SE = 0.93; P < .001) significantly reduced apathy. Conclusions Antipsychotic review can play a significant role in improving apathy in people with dementia living in nursing homes, when combined with psychosocial interventions such as social interaction and exercise. An ingress and a complete transit of HD 80606 b
We have used four telescopes at different longitudes to obtain
near-continuous lightcurve coverage of the star HD 80606 as it was transited by
its \sim 4-MJup planet. The observations were performed during the predicted
transit windows around the 25th of October 2008 and the 14th of February 2009.
Our data set is unique in that it simultaneously constrains the duration of the
transit and the planet's period. Our Markov-Chain Monte Carlo analysis of the
light curves, combined with constraints from radial-velocity data, yields
system parameters consistent with previously reported values. We find a
planet-to-star radius ratio marginally smaller than previously reported,

The ERE of the "Red Rectangle" revisited
We present in this paper high signal-to-noise long-slit optical spectra of
the Extended Red Emission (ERE) in the "Red Rectangle" (RR) nebula. These
spectra, obtained at different positions in the nebula, reveal an extremely
complex emission pattern on top of the broad ERE continuum. It is well known
that three features converge at large distance from the central object, in
wavelength and profile to the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) at 5797, 5849.8
and 6614 ang., (e.g. Sarre et al., 1995). In this paper we give a detailed
inventory of all spectral subfeatures observed in the 5550--6850 ang. spectral
range. Thanks to our high S/N spectra, we propose 5 new features in the RR that
can be associated with DIBs. For the 5550--6200 ang. spectral range our slit
position was on top of the NE spike of the X shaped nebula. A detailed
description of the spatial profile-changes is given of the strongest features
revealing that even far out in the nebula at 24 arcsec from the central star,
there remains a small shift in wavelength of 1 respectively 2 ang between the
ERE subfeatures and the DIB wavelengths of 5797.11 and 5849.78 ang.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures accepted by Astronomy and Astrophysic
Association between longer hospitalization and development of de novo donor specific antibodies in simultaneous liverâkidney transplant recipients

Background:De novo Donor Specific Antibodies (DSA) are considered as a risk factor for the kidney allograft outcomes in recipients after simultaneous liverâkidney transplantation (SLKT). We hypothesized that length of hospital stay (LOS) might be associated with de novo DSA development of due to the increased likelihood of receiving blood transfusions with reduced immunosuppressive regimens. Methods: This study is a single-center, retrospective cohort study consisting of 85 recipients who underwent SLKT from 2009 to 2018 in our hospital. We divided the patients into two groups according to LOS [long hospital stay (L) group (LOS \u3e14 days) and short hospital stay (S) group (LOS â€14 days)]. Propensity score (PS) has been created using logistic regression to predict LOS greater than median of 14 days. The association between the presence of de novo DSA and LOS was assessed by logistic regression models adjusted for PS. Results: The mean age at transplantation of the entire cohort was 55.5 ± 10.1 years. Sixty percent of the recipients were male and Caucasian. Median LOS in (L) group was three-fold longer than (S) group [L: median 30 days (IQR: 21â52), S: median 8.5 days (IQR: 7â11)]. Eight patients developed de novo DSA after SLKT (9.4%), all of them were in (L) group. Longer LOS was significantly associated with higher risk of development of de novo DSA in unadjusted (OR+ each 5 days: 1.09, 95% CI:1.02â1.16) and PS adjusted (OR+ each 5 days: 1.11, 95% CI:1.02â1.21) analysis. Conclusion: Longer hospitalization is significantly associated with the development of de novo DSA in SLKT
Water in HD 209458b's atmosphere from 3.6 - 8 microns IRAC photometric observations in primary transit
The hot Jupiter HD 209458b was observed during primary transit at 3.6, 4.5,
5.8 and 8.0 microns using the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) on the Spitzer Space
Telescope. We detail here the procedures we adopted to correct for the
systematic trends present in the IRAC data. The light curves were fitted
including limb darkening effects and fitted using Markov Chain Monte Carlo and
prayer-bead Monte Carlo techniques, finding almost identical results. The final
depth measurements obtained by a combined Markov Chain Monte Carlo fit are at
3.6 microns, 1.469 +- 0.013 % and 1.448 +- 0.013 %; at 4.5 microns, 1.478 +-
0.017 % ; at 5.8 microns, 1.549 +- 0.015 % and at 8.0 microns 1.535 +- 0.011 %.
Our results clearly indicate the presence of water in the planetary atmosphere.
Our broad band photometric measurements with IRAC prevent us from determining
the additional presence of other other molecules such as CO, CO2 and methane
for which spectroscopy is needed. While water vapour with a mixing ratio of
10^-4-10^-3 combined with thermal profiles retrieved from the day-side may
provide a very good fit to our observations, this data set alone is unable to
resolve completely the degeneracy between water abundance and atmospheric
