Incidencia del género en los niveles de actividad física en las clases de educación física

The main objective of this paper is to describe physical activity levels in physical education classes among primary schoolchildren and to observe differences between genders. For these purposes 42 students were selected (22 boys and 20 girls) (10,5 ± 0,8 years of age; 40,5 ± 8,3 kg of mass; 143,8 ± 7,1 cm of heigth; 19,4 ± 3,2 kg/m2 of BMI). Their level of physical activity was assessed using a GT3X accelerometer (Actigraph, Pensacola, FL, USA) carried during five school days, attached at the right hip, with an epoch of 1s. Intensity was determined by cut-offs proposed by Evenson et al. (2008). The results show that students do moderate to vigorous intensity around 17% and 13% for boys and girls respectively. No significant differences were observed.

Implementation of an End-to-End Standards-based Patient Monitoring Solution

    Get PDF
A proof-of-concept design of a patient monitoring solution for intensive care unit environments has been presented. It is end-to-end standard-based, using ISO/IEEE 11073 (X73) in the bedside environment and EN13606 to communicate the information to an electronic healthcare record (EHR) server. At the bedside end, the system is a plug-and-play sensor network communicating with a gateway that collects medical information and sends the data to a monitoring server. The monitoring server transforms this information into an EN13606 extract to be stored on the EHR server. The system has been implemented to comply with the last X73 and EN13606 available versions and tested in a laboratory environment to demonstrate the feasibility of an end-to-end standard-based solution

Elastic scattering with weakly bound projectiles

Possible effects of the break-up channel on the elastic scattering threshold anomaly has been investigated. We used the weakly bound 6,7Li nuclei, which is known to undergo break-up, as projectiles in order to study the elastic scattering on a 27Al target. In this contribution we present preliminary results of these experiments, which were analyzed in terms of the Optical Model and compared with other elastic scattering data using weakly bound nuclei as projectile. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.Fil:Figueira, J.M. Photoswitching Mechanism of Cyanine Dyes

Photoswitchable fluorescent probes have been used in recent years to enable super-resolution fluorescence microscopy by single-molecule imaging.1-6 Among these probes are red carbocyanine dyes, which can be reversibly photoconverted between a fluorescent state and a dark state for hundreds of cycles, yielding several thousand detected photons per switching cycle, before permanent photobleaching occurs.7,8 While these properties make them excel-lent probes for super-resolution imaging, the mechanism by which cyanine dyes are photoconverted has yet to be determined. Such an understanding could prove useful for creating new photoswit-chable probes with improved properties. The photoconversion of red cyanine dyes into their dark states occurs upon illumination by red light and is facilitated by a primary thiol in solution,7,9 whereas agents with a secondary thiol do not support photoswitching. These observations suggest that the reactiv

Exploring Cosmic Origins with CORE: Survey requirements and mission design

Future observations of cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarisation havethe potential to answer some of the most fundamental questions of modernphysics and cosmology. In this paper, we list the requirements for a future CMBpolarisation survey addressing these scientific objectives, and discuss thedesign drivers of the CORE space mission proposed to ESA in answer to the "M5"call for a medium-sized mission. The rationale and options, and themethodologies used to assess the mission's performance, are of interest toother future CMB mission design studies. CORE is designed as a near-ultimateCMB polarisation mission which, for optimal complementarity with ground-basedobservations, will perform the observations that are known to be essential toCMB polarisation scienceand cannot be obtained by any other means than adedicated space mission
