Is MDMA a Safe and Effective Adjunct for Treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Background: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common mental health disorder that affects many Americans and leads to considerable morbidity and mortality. While there are a range of therapies to treat PTSD, treatment resistance is high, leading to a chronic condition in many patients. In recent years, attention has been turned to the use of novel drugs, such as 3,4,- methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) as a treatment for PTSD.
Aim: The purpose of this literature review was to assess the safety and efficacy of MDMA use in the treatment of PTSD.
Results: MDMA is a schedule I drug, therefore research into its use is limited. This literature review reports on the results of six phase 2 trials (n=103) and the only phase 3 randomized control trial (n=92). Results of the phase 2 trials found that 52.7% of the experimental group no longer met criteria for PTSD compared to only 22.6% of those in the control group. Results of the phase 3 trial found that MDMA produced statistically significant reductions in CAPS scores of patients (p\u3c0.0001, d=0.91) as well a decrease in SDS scores (p=0.0016, d=0.43).
Conclusion: MDMA seems to be a safe, effective, and long-lasting treatment option for patients with treatment resistant PTSD. However, additional studies involving larger sample sizes and longer follow-up are warranted

El presente documento tiene como objetivo principal que estudiantes con discapacidad visual en un aula inclusiva tengan la posibilidad a través de un juego de exigir nuevas formas de pensar, a partir del uso de fichas de dominó adaptadas formando grupos con patrones numéricos definidos, es intentar dominar un conjunto de relaciones numéricas fascinantemente diferentes donde se le abren las puertas al aprendizaje y la imaginación de forma única. Por otro lado también se ve la necesidad de contribuir a sensibilizar a la comunidad educativa sobre la necesidad de que todos los alumnos y alumnas tengan acceso a la información y la educación, sin excepciones en igualdad de condiciones

En este documento se presenta una propuesta inclusiva de la enseñanza de la ubicación y localización espacial para estudiantes de grado 3° incluyendo estudiantes con discapacidad visual, en la cual se desea realizar a la población inicialmente una apropiación conceptual por medio de procesos de formación e instrucción y un desarrollo del trabajo propuesto. Esta propuesta inclusiva en torno al pensamiento espacial, específicamente la localización (sistemas de referencia), permitirá que los estudiantes reconozcan y puedan describir las características de los sistemas de referencia, para ubicarse y orientarse en el espacio
Body mass index influence in female urinary incontinence
PURPOSE: to evaluate and compare the effects of body mass index (BMI) on the severity of female urinary incontinence (UI) using the quality of life questionnaire King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ), variables of urodynamic studies and the medical history taken. METHODS: cross-sectional clinical study. We selected 65 patients with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) who were divided into three groups: Group I (BMI: 18-25 kg/m²), Group II (BMI: 25-30 kg/m²) and Group III (BMI>30 kg/m²). The KHQ domains were compared between these groups. In addition, some clinical history urodynamic data (presence of nocturia, enuresis, urgency and urge incontinence) were also related to BMI by calculating the Odds Ratio (OR). The BMI in the presence and absence of non-inhibited detrusor contractions and Valsalva leak point pressure (VLPP) 60 cmH2O were evaluated. Finally, the correlation between BMI and the nine KHQ domains has been tested in order to detect some association. RESULTS: the KHQ did not record deterioration of quality of life in women with UI with increasing BMI in any of its areas. The OR for the presence of enuresis in relation to a BMI was 1.003 [CI: 0.897-1.121], p=0.962. The OR for nocturia was 1.049 [CI: 0.933-1.18], p=.425. The OR for urgency was 0.975 [CI: 0.826-1.151], p=0.762, and the OR for incontinence was 0.978 [CI: 0.85-1.126], p=0.76. We studied the BMI in patients with and without non-inhibited detrusor contractions and detected medians of 26.4±4.8 and 28.3±5.7 kg/m², respectively (p=0.6). Similarly, the median BMI values for the groups with VLPP 60 cmH2O were 29.6±4.1 and 27.7±5.7 kg/m², respectively (p=0.2). Finally, we failed to demonstrate an association between BMI and any of the nine KHQ domains by means of the Spearman correlation. CONCLUSION: there was no association of KHQ scores with BMI. There was also no correlation between the parameters of clinical history and of the urodynamic study with BMI.OBJETIVOS: avaliar e comparar os efeitos do índice de massa corporal (IMC) sobre severidade da incontinência urinária (IU) feminina por meio do questionário de qualidade de vida King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ), variáveis do estudo urodinâmico e dados da anamnese. MÉTODOS: estudo clínico transversal. Foram selecionados 65 pacientes com incontinência urinária de esforço (IUE) que foram divididas em três grupos: Grupo I (IMC entre 18 e 25 kg/m²); Grupo II (IMC entre 25 e 30 kg/m²) e Grupo III (IMC>30 kg/m²). Os domínios do KHQ foram comparados entre esses grupos. Além disso, alguns dados da anamnese e do estudo urodinâmico (presença de noctúria, enurese, urgência e urge-incontinência) foram também relacionados ao IMC calculando-se o OR (Odds Ratio). O IMC, na presença e na ausência de contrações não inibidas do detrusor, bem como no VLPP (valsalva leak point pressure) 60 cmH2O foi avaliado. Por fim, foram realizados testes de correlação do IMC com os nove domínios do KHQ a fim de se evidenciar alguma associação. RESULTADOS: o KHQ foi incapaz de registrar, em qualquer um de seus domínios, deterioração da qualidade de vida das mulheres com IU na medida em que ocorreu elevação do IMC. Encontramos OR para a presença de enurese em relação ao IMC de 1,003 [IC: 0,897-1,121], valor p=0,962. Para a noctúria, o OR foi de 1,049 (IC: 0,933-1,18), valor p=0,425. O valor de OR=0,975 (IC: 0,826-1,151), valor p=0,762 foi encontrado para a urgência. No que se refere à urge-incontinência, encontrou-se OR=0,978 (IC: 0,85-1,126), valor p=0,76. Estudou-se o IMC nos grupos com e sem contrações não-inibidas do músculo detrusor e foram encontradas, respectivamente, medianas de 26,4±4,8 e 28,3±5,7 kg/m² (p=0,6). De forma semelhante, as medianas do IMC nos grupos com VLPP60 cmH2O foram, respectivamente, de 29,6±4,1 e 27,7±5,7 kg/m² (p=0,2). Finalmente, não tivemos êxito em demonstrar associação do IMC com qualquer um dos nove domínios do KHQ por meio da correlação de Spearman. CONCLUSÃO: não houve associação dos escores do KHQ com o IMC. Pineapple mealybug wilt-associated viruses 1, 2, and 3 are associated with mealybug wilt disease of pineapple in Peru
Mealybug wilt of pineapple (MWP) is the most important disease of pineapple worldwide. During the months of September and November 2020, pineapple production fields of the cultivar Hawaiiana and hybrid MD-2 in Satipo and Chanchamayo provinces of Peru, showed typical symptoms of MWP. Based on symptoms, the disease incidence level ranged between 70 and 90%. Symptomatic and asymptomatic foliar samples were collected and tested by RT-PCR using primers specific for pineapple mealybug wilt virus (PMWaV) 1, 2, and 3. Selected amplified fragments were sequenced and analyzed with bioinformatics tools. PMWaV-1, 2, and 3 were detected in symptomatic samples of both cultivars but not in asymptomatic samples. PMWaV-1 showed a nucleotide identity of 91.70% with PMWaV-1 from Thailand; PMWaV-2, 99.81% with PMWaV-2 from Thailand; and PMWaV-3, 99.09% with PMWaV-3 from Cuba. Mixed infections of PMWaV-1, 2, and 3 were also detected in both cultivars. To our knowledge, this is the first report of PMWaV-1, 2, and 3, associated with pineapple in Peru

Effect of L-glutamine levels in piglets diets challenged with Escherichia coli lipopolysacharides
ABSTRACT
Objective. To evaluate the effect of different levels of L-glutamine on weaned and immunologically challenged piglets with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharides (LPS) on performance parameters, serum cortisol and defense cells. Materials and methods. Four levels of L –glutamine were evaluated (0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0%) as well as the addition, or no addition, of LPS (0.3μg). 96 piglets were used (48 castrated males and 48 females) of Agroceres x PenArlan lineage, with an initial age of 21 days and 6.06±0.852 kg live weight. An experimental design was used on randomized blocks in a factorial setting 4 x 2 (levels of L- glutamine with or without challenge). Results. Cubic effect was shown for daily weight gain of unchallenged animals, and was better with the addition of 0.41% L- glutamine. Feed conversion improved with increased levels of L -glutamine for challenged animals. In the evaluation of defense cells, there was interaction of leukocytes with the levels of L- glutamine and the immune challenge. Eosinophils and lymphocytes showed a quadratic effect for the levels of L –glutamine, with a maximum value of 1.30% and 0.5%, respectively. Conclusions. L -glutamine supplementation of up to 2% in the diet improves feed conversion and favors the immune serum of weaned piglets challenged with LPS of E. coli
Seawater redox variations during the deposition of the Kimmeridge Clay Formation, United Kingdom (Upper Jurassic): evidence from molybdenum isotopes and trace metal ratios
The Kimmeridge Clay Formation (KCF) and its equivalents worldwide represent one of the most prolonged periods of organic carbon accumulation of the Mesozoic. In this study, we use the molybdenum (Mo) stable isotope system in conjunction with a range of trace metal paleoredox proxies to assess how seawater redox varied both locally and globally during the deposition of the KCF. Facies with lower organic carbon contents (TOC 1–7 wt %) were deposited under mildly reducing (suboxic) conditions, while organic-rich facies (TOC >7 wt %) accumulated under more strongly reducing (anoxic or euxinic) local conditions. Trace metal abundances are closely linked to TOC content, suggesting that the intensity of reducing conditions varied repeatedly during the deposition of the KCF and may have been related to orbitally controlled climate changes. Long-term variations in ?98/95Mo are associated with the formation of organic-rich intervals and are related to third-order fluctuations in relative sea level. Differences in the mean ?98/95Mo composition of the organic-rich intervals suggest that the global distribution of reducing conditions was more extensive during the deposition of the Pectinatites wheatleyensis and lower Pectinatites hudlestoni zones than during the deposition of the upper Pectinatites hudlestoni and Pectinatites pectinatus zones. The global extent of reducing conditions during the Kimmerigidan was greater than today but was less widespread than during the Toarcian (Early Jurassic) oceanic anoxic event. This study also demonstrates that the Mo isotope system in Jurassic seawater responded to changes in redox conditions in a manner consistent with its behavior in present-day sedimentary environment
