Komatiite genesis in the Archaean mantle, with implications for the tectonics of Archaean greenstone belts

The presence of ultramafic lavas (komatiites) associated with Archean greenstone belts has been suggested to indicate very high increments (50-80%) of partial melting of the Archean mantle. Such extensive melting of the Earth's mantle during the Archean might have profound effects on the early tectonic and chemical evolution of the planet, although problems associated with keeping the komatiite liquid in equilibrium with the residual mantle at such high increments of melting has cast doubt upon aspects of extensive melting. Two important aspects of the origin of komatiites are discussed below

Fine-scale traverses in cumulate rocks, Stillwater Complex: A lunar analogue study

The objective was to document finite-scale compositional variations in cumulate rocks from the Stillwater Complex in Montana and to interpret these data in the context of planetary magma fractionation processes such as those operative during the formation of the Earth's Moon. This research problem involved collecting samples in the Stillwater Complex and analyzing them by electron microprobe, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). The electron microprobe is used to determine the compositions of cumulus and intercumulus phases in the rocks, the XRF is used to determine the bulk-rock major element and trace element (Y, Sr, Rb, Zr, Ni, and Cr) abundances, and the INAA lab. is used to determine the trace element (Sc, Co, Cr, Ni, Ta, Hf, U, Th, and the REE) abundances of mineral separates and bulk rocks

A broad distribution of the alternative oxidase in microsporidian parasites

Microsporidia are a group of obligate intracellular parasitic eukaryotes that were considered to be amitochondriate until the recent discovery of highly reduced mitochondrial organelles called mitosomes. Analysis of the complete genome of Encephalitozoon cuniculi revealed a highly reduced set of proteins in the organelle, mostly related to the assembly of ironsulphur clusters. Oxidative phosphorylation and the Krebs cycle proteins were absent, in keeping with the notion that the microsporidia and their mitosomes are anaerobic, as is the case for other mitosome bearing eukaryotes, such as Giardia. Here we provide evidence opening the possibility that mitosomes in a number of microsporidian lineages are not completely anaerobic. Specifically, we have identified and characterized a gene encoding the alternative oxidase (AOX), a typically mitochondrial terminal oxidase in eukaryotes, in the genomes of several distantly related microsporidian species, even though this gene is absent from the complete genome of E. cuniculi. In order to confirm that these genes encode functional proteins, AOX genes from both A. locustae and T. hominis were over-expressed in E. coli and AOX activity measured spectrophotometrically using ubiquinol-1 (UQ-1) as substrate. Both A. locustae and T. hominis AOX proteins reduced UQ-1 in a cyanide and antimycin-resistant manner that was sensitive to ascofuranone, a potent inhibitor of the trypanosomal AOX. The physiological role of AOX microsporidia may be to reoxidise reducing equivalents produced by glycolysis, in a manner comparable to that observed in trypanosome

KEBUTUHAN RUANG RUMAH SINGGAH DIFABEL DI KECAMATAN SUKUN KOTA MALANG

Difabel dimata masyarakat saat ini masih dipandang sebelah mata sebagai pihak yang perlu dikasihani Difabel di Indonesia harus menghadapi adanya “budaya aib” dalam budaya aib penampilan fisik yang terlihat selalu menjadi sorotan utama daripada sikap-sikap yang dimiliki dalam diri. Keterbatasan difabel harus berhadapan dengan sistem kaku yang berlaku dimasyarakat, sistem pembagian kerja dan sistem interaksi. Perusahaan menolak adanya karyawan difabel karena keterbatasan yang dimilikinya akan mempengaruhi kinerjanya, dari persoalan tersebut maka diperlukan suatu wadah untuk difabel bisa melatih ketrampilan yang berguna bagi dunia kerja serta meningkatkan kepercayaan diri difabel guna mencapai kesejahteraan sosial. Menurut Undang-undang No.11 Tahun 2009 tentang Kesejahteraan sosial salah satu wadah untuk mencapai kesejahteraan sosial yaitu dengan adanya rumah singgah untuk difabel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tahapan analisis deskriptif untuk menganalisis karakteristik difabel di kecamatan Sukun, analisis kebutuhan dan besaran ruang rumah singgah serta menggunakan analisis overlay peta untuk penentuan lokasi rumah singgah difabel. Hasil penelitian ini berupa rumusan kebutuhan ruang rumah singgah difabel di kecamaaatan Sukun Kota Malang. Dari hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan diketahui luasan kebutuhan ruang untuk rumah singgah sebesar 1702,29m2, dan lokasi yang tepat untuk dibangun rumah singgah berada di kelurahan Pisang candi dan Kelurahan Karangbesuk

USES OF THE PSEUDOMONAS SYRINGAE EFFECTOR PROTEIN HOPU1 RELATED TO ITSABILITY TO ADP-RBOSYLATE EUKARYOTC RNA BINDING PROTENS

The bacterial plant pathogen Pseudomonas Syringae injects effector proteins into host cells via a type III protein secre tion system to cause disease. The invention relates to the discovery that the type III effector HopU1 is a mono-ADP ribosyltransferase (ADP-RT) and suppresses plant innate immunity. The HopU1 substrates in Arabidopsis thaliana extracts were RNA-binding proteins that possess RNA recognition motifs (RRMs). A. thaliana knock-out lines defective in the glycine-rich RNA-binding protein AtGRP7, a HopU1 substrate, were more susceptible than wild type plants to P syringae. The ADP-ribosylation of AtGRP7 by HopU1 required two arginines within the RRM. The inven tion provides novel methods for the modulation of the innate immune response of a plant to a biotic stress, including methods for enhancing or suppressing the innate immune response of the plant

Implementación de un sistema de ventas y almacén con facturación electrónica en la tienda del regalo E.I.R.L. – Chimbote; 2020.

La presente investigación fue desarrollada en base a la línea de investigación: Ingeniería de Software, la problemática en la empresa es que lleva sus registros de ventas de forma manual, lo que genera problemas y errores, causando de ese modo insatisfacción a los clientes, por lo que se propuso como objetivo general el implementar un sistema de ventas y almacén con facturación electrónica en la tienda del regalo E.I.R.L. en Chimbote, para mejorar la calidad de servicio a los clientes; para este trabajo se usó la metodología de tipo cuantitativa, descriptiva, no experimental y de corte transversal, la población estuvo conformada por 10 trabajadores, entre los que estaban: vendedores, almaceneros y cajeros, se utilizó la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento de recojo de información el cuestionario. Conforme a los resultados obtenidos para la dimensión nivel de satisfacción actual, se encontró que el 60.00% mostro estar insatisfechos con el manejo de las ventas, mientras que para la dimensión necesidad de propuesta de mejora, el 100.00% afirmo que era necesaria la propuesta de mejora, finalmente se concluyó que los trabajadores sí están de acuerdo que la calidad de servicio a los clientes mejora con la implementación de un sistema de ventas y almacén con facturación electrónica en la tienda del regalo E.I.R.L., determinando de esta manera que la hipótesis planteada queda aceptada, el alcance es beneficiar a la empresa, agilizando sus procesos con el fin de mejorar la atención al cliente

Um conjunto de melhorias nos serviços de streaming de vídeo: Netflix, Globoplay e Amazon Prime Vídeo baseadas na percepção de seus usuários

Video streaming services have become popular as an instrument for consuming audiovisual content in recent years. The objective of this study is to propose improvements to the video streaming services: Netflix, Globoplay and Amazon Prime Vídeo based on the perception of ten users. To achieve the result, qualitative research was carried out through bibliographic research to support the concepts of digital consumption, user perception, streaming, integration of streaming services and content unification. Then, the data collection that used ten semi-structured interviews and finally, the content analysis of the responses of the users of the services to verify the problems experienced as well as suggestions for improvements. The Netflix, Amazon Prime Vídeo and Globoplay streaming services need the following improvements: an increase in the number of accesses and the number of simultaneous screens per subscription; the reduction of the amount charged for subscribing to the services; improving the streaming interface so that the user can perform the desired actions efficiently; greater dissemination of new audiovisual productions in various communication channels and the improvement of their content.NenhumaOs serviços de streaming de vídeo têm se popularizado como instrumento de consumo de conteúdo audiovisual nos últimos anos. O objetivo deste estudo é propor melhorias dos serviços de streaming de vídeo: Netflix, Globoplay e Amazon Prime Vídeo tendo como base a percepção de dez usuários. Para atingir o resultado foi realizada uma pesquisa do tipo qualitativa por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica para embasamento dos conceitos de consumo digital, percepção de usuário, streaming, integração dos serviços de streaming e unificação de conteúdos. Depois, a coleta de dados que se utilizou de dez entrevistas semiestruturadas e por último, a análise de conteúdo das respostas dos usuários dos serviços para verificar os problemas vivenciados assim como sugestões de melhorias. Os serviços de streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime Vídeo e Globoplay necessitam das seguintes melhorias: o aumento do número de acessos e a quantidade de telas simultâneas por assinatura; a redução do valor cobrado para ser assinante dos serviços; o aperfeiçoamento da interface dos streamings para que seja possível o usuário realizar as ações desejadas de forma eficiente; uma maior divulgação das novas produções audiovisuais em diversos canais de comunicação e a melhoria dos seus conteúdos

Seismic structure of an oceanic core complex at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, 22°19′N

We present results from a seismic refraction and wide-angle experiment surveying an oceanic core complex on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 22°19′N. Oceanic core complexes are settings where petrological sampling found exposed lower crustal and upper mantle rocks, exhumed by asymmetric crustal accretion involving detachment faulting at magmatically starved ridge sections. Tomographic inversion of our seismic data yielded lateral variations of P wave velocity within the upper 3 to 4 km of the lithosphere across the median valley. A joint modeling procedure of seismic P wave travel times and marine gravity field data was used to constrain crustal thickness variations and the structure of the uppermost mantle. A gradual increase of seismic velocities from the median valley to the east is connected to aging of the oceanic crust, while a rapid change of seismic velocities at the western ridge flank indicates profound differences in lithology between conjugated ridge flanks, caused by un-roofing lower crust rocks. Under the core complex crust is approximately 40% thinner than in the median valley and under the conjugated eastern flank. Clear PmP reflections turning under the western ridge flank suggest the creation of a Moho boundary and hence continuous magmatic accretion during core complex formation

Nivel de satisfacción de usuarios atendidos en el servicio de hospitalización, hospital público, Chachapoyas – 2023.

La presente investigación llevó por título nivel de satisfacción de usuarios atendidos el servicio de hospitalización del Hospital Público, Chachapoyas – 2023. El estudio fue de enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo, de tipo observacional, prospectivo y transversal; que fue realizada durante los meses de junio a julio, donde la muestra estuvo representada por 222 usuarios, para la valoración de la satisfacción se utilizó la encuesta “SERVPERF”. Resultados: la satisfacción global es del 94.5%, del mismo modo se determinó los resultados según dimensiones donde fiabilidad mostró una satisfacción del 89.2%, capacidad de respuesta con 96.5% de satisfacción, seguridad con 97.1% de satisfacción, empatía con 97.8% de satisfacción y aspectos tangibles con 92.0% de satisfacción, se demostró que existe relación significativa del nivel de satisfacción con las dimensiones: fiabilidad con p-valor de 0.00, capacidad de respuesta con p-valor de 0.00, seguridad con p-valor de 0.00 y empatía p-valor de 0.00, adicionalmente se halló relaciones significativas del nivel de satisfacción con grado de instrucción con un p-valor de 0.029 y con tiempo de hospitalización con p-valor de 0.00. Conclusión: la dimensión fiabilidad tiene el menor nivel de satisfacción, existe relaciones significativas de la satisfacción con el grado de instrucción y el tiempo de hospitalización del usuario
