A unitary correlation operator method
The short range repulsion between nucleons is treated by a unitary
correlation operator which shifts the nucleons away from each other whenever
their uncorrelated positions are within the replusive core. By formulating the
correlation as a transformation of the relative distance between particle
pairs, general analytic expressions for the correlated wave functions and
correlated operators are given. The decomposition of correlated operators into
irreducible n-body operators is discussed. The one- and two-body-irreducible
parts are worked out explicitly and the contribution of three-body correlations
is estimated to check convergence. Ground state energies of nuclei up to mass
number A=48 are calculated with a spin-isospin-dependent potential and single
Slater determinants as uncorrelated states. They show that the deduced energy-
and mass-number-independent correlated two-body Hamiltonian reproduces all

The Representation of Natural Numbers in Quantum Mechanics
This paper represents one approach to making explicit some of the assumptions
and conditions implied in the widespread representation of numbers by composite
quantum systems. Any nonempty set and associated operations is a set of natural
numbers or a model of arithmetic if the set and operations satisfy the axioms
of number theory or arithmetic. This work is limited to k-ary representations
of length L and to the axioms for arithmetic modulo k^{L}. A model of the
axioms is described based on states in and operators on an abstract L fold
tensor product Hilbert space H^{arith}. Unitary maps of this space onto a
physical parameter based product space H^{phy} are then described. Each of
these maps makes states in H^{phy}, and the induced operators, a model of the
axioms. Consequences of the existence of many of these maps are discussed along
with the dependence of Grover's and Shor's Algorithms on these maps. The
importance of the main physical requirement, that the basic arithmetic
operations are efficiently implementable, is discussed. This conditions states
that there exist physically realizable Hamiltonians that can implement the
basic arithmetic operations and that the space-time and thermodynamic resources

Constraints of cluster separability and covariance on current operators
Realistic models of hadronic systems should be defined by a dynamical unitary
representation of the Poincare group that is also consistent with cluster
properties and a spectral condition. All three of these requirements constrain
the structure of the interactions. These conditions can be satisfied in
light-front quantum mechanics, maintaining the advantage of having a kinematic
subgroup of boosts and translations tangent to a light front. The most
straightforward construction of dynamical unitary representations of the
Poincare group due to Bakamjian and Thomas fails to satisfy the cluster
condition for more than two particles. Cluster properties can be restored, at
significant computational expense, using a recursive method due to Sokolov. In
this work we report on an investigation of the size of the corrections needed
to restore cluster properties in Bakamjian-Thomas models with a light-front
kinematic symmetry. Our results suggest that for models based on nucleon and
meson degrees of freedom these corrections are too small to be experimentally

A Quantum Anti-Zeno Paradox
We establish an exact differential equation for the operator describing
time-dependent measurements continuous in time and obtain a series solution.
Suppose the projection operator is measured

Biallelic Loss-of-Function Variants in BICD1 Are Associated with Peripheral Neuropathy and Hearing Loss
Hearing loss and peripheral neuropathy are two clinical entities that are genetically and phenotypically heterogeneous and sometimes co-occurring. Using exome sequencing and targeted segregation analysis, we investigated the genetic etiology of peripheral neuropathy and hearing loss in a large Ashkenazi Jewish family. Moreover, we assessed the production of the candidate protein via western blotting of lysates from fibroblasts from an affected individual and an unaffected control. Pathogenic variants in known disease genes associated with hearing loss and peripheral neuropathy were excluded. A homozygous frameshift variant in the BICD1 gene, c.1683dup (p.(Arg562Thrfs*18)), was identified in the proband and segregated with hearing loss and peripheral neuropathy in the family. The BIDC1 RNA analysis from patient fibroblasts showed a modest reduction in gene transcripts compared to the controls. In contrast, protein could not be detected in fibroblasts from a homozygous c.1683dup individual, whereas BICD1 was detected in an unaffected individual. Our findings indicate that bi-allelic loss-of-function variants in BICD1 are associated with hearing loss and peripheral neuropathy. Definitive evidence that bi-allelic loss-of-function variants in BICD1 cause peripheral neuropathy and hearing loss will require the identification of other families and individuals with similar variants with the same phenotype
A collaborative-interactive model for mental health consultation: Teacher inservice education by psychiatric clinicians
Primary prevention of emotional disorders is often cited as a goal in community mental health consultation. The daily contact with children and parents by the classroom teacher can yield effective prevention, if the teacher is appropriately prepared to act as a resource, and by clinicians given an awareness of emotional difficulties in children and their parents. Though consultation is often described as facilitative of change, typically discussions of such programs emphasize technique rather than content. Presented here is a collaborative model based upon a didactic input of humanistic psychology, upon which educator and clinician draw as they become allies in pursuit of answers to questions raised in current examples from the teacher's classroom experience. Electron and Photon Scattering on Three-Nucleon Bound States
A big spectrum of processes induced by real and virtual photons on the 3He
and 3H nuclei is theoretically investigated through many examples based on
nonrelativistic Faddeev calculations for bound and continuum states. The modern
nucleon-nucleon potential AV18 together with the three-nucleon force UrbanaIX
is used. The single nucleon current is augmented by explicit pi- and rho-like
two-body currents which fulfill the current continuity equation together with
the corresponding parts of the AV18 potential. We also employ the Siegert
theorem, which induces many-body contributions to the current operator. The
interplay of these different dynamical ingredients in the various
electromagnetic processes is studied and the theory is compared to the
experimental data. Overall we find fair to good agreement but also cases of
strong disagreement between theory and experiment, which calls for improved
dynamics. In several cases we refer the reader to the work of other groups and
compare their results with ours. In addition we list a number of predictions
for observables in different processes which would challenge this dynamical

Migralepsy, hemicrania epileptica, post-ictal headache and “ictal epileptic headache”: a proposal for terminology and classification revision
Despite the fact that migraine and epilepsy are among the commoner brain diseases and that comorbidity of these conditions is well known, only few reports of migralepsy and hemicrania epileptica (HE) have been published according to the current ICHD-II criteria. Particularly, ICHD-II describes “migraine-triggered seizure” (i.e., migralepsy) among complications of migraine at “1.5.5” (as a rare event in which a seizure happens during migrainous aura), while hemicrania epileptica (coded at “7.6.1”) and post-ictal headache (coded at “7.6.2”) are described among headaches attributed to epileptic seizure. However, to date neither the International Headache Society nor the International League against Epilepsy mention that headache/migraine may be the sole ictal epileptic manifestation. Based on the current knowledge, migralepsy is highly unlikely to exist as such. We, therefore, propose to delete this term until clear evidence its existence is provided. Moreover, we herein propose a revision of terminology and classification criteria to properly represent the migraine/headache relationships. We suggest the term “ictal epileptic headache” in cases in which headache/migraine is the sole ictal epileptic manifestation
Paroxysmal exercise-induced dyskinesia and epilepsy is due to mutations in SLC2A1, encoding the glucose transporter GLUT1
Paroxysmal exercise-induced dyskinesia (PED) can occur in isolation or in association with epilepsy, but the genetic causes and pathophysiological mechanisms are still poorly understood. We performed a clinical evaluation and genetic analysis in a five-generation family with co-occurrence of PED and epilepsy (n = 39), suggesting that this combination represents a clinical entity. Based on a whole genome linkage analysis we screened SLC2A1, encoding the glucose transporter of the blood-brain-barrier, GLUT1 and identified heterozygous missense and frameshift mutations segregating in this and three other nuclear families with a similar phenotype. PED was characterized by choreoathetosis, dystonia or both, affecting mainly the legs. Predominant epileptic seizure types were primary generalized. A median CSF/blood glucose ratio of 0.52 (normal >0.60) in the patients and a reduced glucose uptake by mutated transporters compared with the wild-type as determined in Xenopus oocytes confirmed a pathogenic role of these mutations. Functional imaging studies implicated alterations in glucose metabolism in the corticostriate pathways in the pathophysiology of PED and in the frontal lobe cortex in the pathophysiology of epileptic seizures. Three patients were successfully treated with a ketogenic diet. In conclusion, co-occurring PED and epilepsy can be due to autosomal dominant heterozygous SLC2A1 mutations, expanding the phenotypic spectrum associated with GLUT1 deficiency and providing a potential new treatment option for this clinical syndrome
