Search for CP Violation in Charged D Meson Decays

We report results of a search for CP violation in the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+ -> K- K+ pi+, phi pi+, K*(892)0 K+, and pi- pi+ pi+ based on data from the charm hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab. We search for a difference in the D+ and D- decay rates for each of the final states. No evidence for a difference is seen. The decay rate asymmetry parameters A(CP), defined as the difference in the D+ and D- decay rates divided by the sum of the decay rates, are measured to be: A(CP)(K K pi) = -0.014 +/- 0.029, A(CP)(phi pi) = -0.028 +/- 0.036, A(CP)(K*(892) K) = -0.010 +/- 0.050, and A(CP)(pi pi pi) = -0.017 +/- 0.042.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 1 table; Elsevier LaTe

From a sample of 2722±782722 \pm 78 Λc+\Lambda_c^+ decaying to the pKπ+pK^-\pi^+ final state, we have observed, in the hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab, 143±20143 \pm 20 Σc0\Sigma_c^0 and 122±18122 \pm 18 Σc++\Sigma_c^{++} through their decays to Λc+π±\Lambda_c^+ \pi^{\pm}. The mass difference M(Σc0)M(Λc+M(\Sigma_c^0) - M(\Lambda_c^+) is measured to be (167.38±0.29±0.15)MeV(167.38\pm 0.29\pm 0.15) {MeV}; for M(Σc++)M(Λc+)M(\Sigma_c^{++}) - M(\Lambda_c^+), we find (167.76±0.29±0.15)MeV(167.76\pm 0.29\pm0.15) {MeV}. The rate of Λc+\Lambda_c^+ production from decays of the Σc\Sigma_c triplet is (22\pm 2\pm 3) {%} of the total Λc+\Lambda_c^+ production assuming equal rate of production from all three, as measured for Σc0\Sigma_c^0 and Σc++\Sigma_c^{++}. We do not observe a statistically significant Σc\Sigma_c baryon-antibaryon production asymmetry. The xFx_F and pt2p_t^2 spectra of Λc+\Lambda_c^+ from Σc\Sigma_c decays are observed to be similar to those for all Λc+\Lambda_c^+'s produced.Comment: 15 pages, uuencoded postscript 3 figures uuencoded, tar-compressed fil

We present the first clear observation of the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay D+ --> K-K+K+ and the first observation of the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Ds+ --> K-K+K+. These signals have been obtained by analyzing the high statistics sample of photoproduced charm particles of the FOCUS(E831) experiment at Fermilab. We measure the following relative branching ratios: Gamma(D+ --> K-K+K+)/Gamma(D+ --> K-pi+pi+) = (9.49 +/- 2.17(statistical) +/- 0.22(systematic))x10^-4 and Gamma(Ds+ --> K-K+K+)/Gamma(Ds+ --> K-K+pi+) = (8.95 +/- 2.12(statistical) +2.24(syst.) -2.31(syst.))x10^-3.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figure

    A Non-parametric Approach to the D+ to K*0bar mu+ nu Form Factors

Using a large sample of D+ -> K- pi+ mu+ nu decays collected by the FOCUS photoproduction experiment at Fermilab, we present the first measurements of the helicity basis form factors free from the assumption of spectroscopic pole dominance. We also present the first information on the form factor that controls the s-wave interference discussed in a previous paper by the FOCUS collaboration. We find reasonable agreement with the usual assumption of spectroscopic pole dominance and measured form factor ratios.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, and 2 tables. We updated the previous version by changing some words, removing one plot, and adding two tables. These changes are mostly stylisti

Using a large sample of D+ to K- pi+ mu+ nu decays collected by the FOCUS photoproduction experiment at Fermilab, we present new measurements of two semileptonic form factor ratios: rv and r2. We find rv = 1.504 \pm 0.057 \pm 0.039 and r2 = 0.875 \pm 0.049 \pm 0.064. Our form factor results include the effects of the s-wave interference discussed in a previous paper.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

"Plantar pro gasto": a importância do autoconsumo entre famílias de agricultores do Rio Grande do Sul.

    Get PDF

Charm-anticharm baryon production asymmetries in photon-nucleon interactions

    Get PDF
We report measurements of the charm-anticharm production asymmetries for Λc+\Lambda_c^+, Σc++\Sigma_c^{++}, Σc0\Sigma_c^0, Σc++\Sigma_c^{++*}, Σc0\Sigma_c^{0*}, and Λc+(2625)\Lambda_c^+(2625) baryons from the Fermilab photoproduction experiment FOCUS (E831). These asymmetries are integrated over the region where the spectrometer has good acceptance. In addition, we have obtained results for the photoproduction asymmetries of the Λc\Lambda_c baryons as functions of pLp_L, pT2p_T^2, and xFx_F. The integrated asymmetry for Λc+\Lambda_c^+ production, (σΛc+σΛc)/(σΛc++σΛc)(\sigma_{\Lambda_c^+} - \sigma_{\Lambda_c^-}) / (\sigma_{\Lambda_c^+} + \sigma_{\Lambda_c^-}), is 0.111±0.018±0.0120.111 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.012, significantly different from zero. The asymmetries of the excited states are consistent with the Λc\Lambda_c asymmetry.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures, 1 tabl

Measurements of the Sigma_c^0 and Sigma_c^{++} Mass Splittings

    Using a high statistics sample of photoproduced charmed particles from the FOCUS experiment at Fermilab (FNAL-E831), we measure the mass splittings of the charmed baryons Sigma_c^0 and Sigma_c^{++}. We find M(Sigma_c^0 - Lambda_c^+) = 167.38 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13 MeV/c^2 and M(Sigma_c^++ - Lambda_c^+) = 167.35 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.12 MeV/c^2 with samples of 362 +/- 36 and 461 +/- 39 events, respectively. We measure the isospin mass splitting M(Sigma_c^++ - Sigma_c^0) to be -0.03 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.11 Mev/c^2. The first errors are statistical and the second are systematic.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure

Search for Rare and Forbidden Dilepton Decays of the D+, Ds, and D0 Charmed Mesons

We report the results of a search for flavor-changing neutral current, lepton-flavor violating, and lepton-number violating decays of D+, Ds, and D0 mesons (and their antiparticles) into modes containing muons and electrons. Using data from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791, we examine the pi,l,l and K,l,l decay modes of D+ and Ds and the l+l- decay modes of D0. No evidence for any of these decays is found. Therefore, we present branching-fraction upper limits at 90% confidence level for the 24 decay modes examined. Eight of these modes have no previously reported limits, and fourteen are reported with significant improvements over previously published results.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, LaTeX, elsart.cls, epsf.sty, amsmath.sty Submitted to Physics Letters
