How to play the game as the bridge between two European power markets – the case of Western Denmark

In this paper we set out to investigate the price and quantity fluctuations in Western Denmark, which took place during the winter season 2002-2003. This was a period, which exhibited critical supply conditions in the Nordic area due to a shortage of hydropower. On average, the market in Western Denmark helped to ease the situation by large net exports. However, a more detailed investigation reveals anomalies in market behaviour that do not fit well into this overall positive description of the situation. Several explanations of the anomalies are offered. These may work separately or act in concert. In particular, we look at the large capacity of volatile wind power; the role of the guaranteed fixed prices and the design and functioning of the special auction system of transmission capacity in the interface between Western Denmark and Germany.electricity trade; market power; wind power

”Du får ḥasanāt for det”: Udøvelse af daʿwa blandt unge muslimer i Aarhus

Budskabet er en gruppe af unge muslimer i Aarhus, som mødes med det formål at fortælle ikkemuslimer om islam. Listen over initiativer for at nå deres målgruppe er alsidig. Budskabet inviterer både indenfor til Åben Moské, stiller stande op på gågaden under islamiske højtider, ogtilbyder, at man kan blive Muslim for en dag, dvs. følge et medlem i nogle timer og derved få et indblik i hans eller hendes hverdag. Hvis man har lyst, må man gerne som muslim for en dag mærke på egen krop, hvordan medlemmerne praktiserer islam, fx ved at bære ḥijāb eller ved atdeltage i en af dagens faste bønner (ṣalāh). Jeg har fra februar 2015 til maj 2016 fulgt Budskabet gennem feltstudier for at undersøge, hvadder driver gruppen til at fortælle om islam til ikke-muslimer. Jeg ønskede også at undersøge, hvordan motivationen for aktiviteterne opretholdes, for gruppen møder af og til modstand fra forbipasserende og nyhedsmedier. Artiklen her vil behandle disse spørgsmål og diskutere, om omvendelse af ikke-muslimer til islam er et af gruppens mål. Jeg vil argumentere for, at den enkeltes forhold til Allah er en af de væsentligste faktorer for, at Budskabet eksisterer og beskæftiger sig med daʿwa. Mine data er indsamlet fra interviews med ca. 15 af gruppens medlemmer samt fra gruppens aktiviteter på sociale medier

In pursuit of β-amino α-nitro β-trifluoromethyl ketones: nitro-Mannich vs Mannich-type reactions

The reactivity of alfa-nitro ketones with trifluoromethyl aldimines is studied for the first time. While under nitro-Mannich conditions only the facial stereoselectivity can be controlled, organocatalysed Mannich-type reactions allowed a complete control of absolute and relative stereoselectivity, leading to highly functionalised β-amino alfa-nitro β-trifluoromethyl compounds as diastereomerically pure compounds. A key role on the geometrical and/or facial stereoselectivity is played by the structure of reactants

The Relationship between Health Literacy and Health Behaviour in People with Diabetes: A Danish Population-Based Study.

Background. People with diabetes who have poor health behaviours are at greater risk for a range of adverse health outcomes. We aimed to investigate the relationship between health literacy and health behaviour (smoking, alcohol, physical activity, and diet) in people with diabetes. Methods. The study was based on respondents aged 25 years or older from a population-based survey in 2013 who reported having diabetes (n = 1685). Two dimensions from the Health Literacy Questionnaire were used: "understand health information" and "actively engage with healthcare providers." We used logistic regression to examine the association between health literacy and health behaviour. Results. After adjustment for sociodemographic factors, individuals with diabetes who found it difficult to understand information about health had higher odds of being physically inactive (OR: 3.43, 95% CI: 2.14-5.51) and having unhealthy dietary habits (OR: 3.01, 95% CI: 1.63-5.58). Similar results were observed for individuals who found it difficult to actively engage with healthcare providers. No associations were found between the two dimensions of health literacy and smoking and alcohol consumption. Conclusion. When developing health services and interventions to improve health behaviour among people with diabetes, our results suggest that they may benefit by including focus on health literacy.Peer Reviewe

Light-Driven Enantioselective Organocatalytic β-Benzylation of Enals

The chemistry capitalizes upon the light-triggered enolization of 2-alkyl-benzophenones to afford hydroxy- o -quinodinomethanes.
