Proyecto de aprendizaje-servicio para la formación inicial del maestro/a de educación infantil desde contextos reales
En este trabajo se presentan los principales elementos de un Proyecto de
Coordinación Docente desarrollado en el curso académico 2016/17, en 1º curso del
Grado de Maestro/a de Educación Infantil de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación
de la Universidad de Málaga.
En él se han unificado principios y prácticas de las asignaturas de “Hacia una escuela
inclusiva: modelos y prácticas”, “Organización Escolar en la Educación Infantil” y
“Didáctica aplicada a la Educación Infantil”.
La finalidad ha sido provocar en el alumnado el conocimiento, a través de la
experiencia de su práctica real, desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar y reflexiva
partiendo de los contenidos de las tres disciplinas. Como eje conductor, el aprendizaje
han pivotado sobre un Proyecto de Aprendizaje-Servicio a la comunidad, en este caso,
la mejora del Patio de Recreo de una Escuela de Infantil de la localidad, procurando
convertirlo en un patio lúdico y educativo, donde cada una y cada uno de los niños
vea facilitado su derecho al juego.
Dicho proyecto ha posibilitado que nuestro alumnado pueda construir una visión de
las asignaturas como recursos para dar respuestas a una única realidad, que es a lo que
se enfrentarán en su futuro profesional. Igualmente, ha facilitado el aprendizaje a
partir de otros tiempos y espacios didácticos más abiertos e integrales, mediante el
trabajo colaborativo de docentes y alumnado y centrando la enseñanza en el
aprendizaje.
La evaluación del proyecto continúa abierta, aunque en este trabajo ya se aportan

Metagenomic sequencing, molecular characterization, and Bayesian phylogenetics of imported type 2 vaccine-derived poliovirus, Spain, 2021
Introduction: In 2021, a type 2 vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDPV2) was isolated from the stool of a patient with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) admitted to Spain from Senegal. A virological investigation was conducted to characterize and trace the origin of VDPV2. Methods: We used an unbiased metagenomic approach for the whole-genome sequencing of VDPV2 from the stool (pre-treated with chloroform) and from the poliovirus-positive supernatant. Phylogenetic analyses and molecular epidemiological analyses relying on the Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo methodology were used to determine the geographical origin and estimate the date of the initiating dose of the oral poliovirus vaccine for the imported VDPV2. Results: We obtained a high percentage of viral reads per total reads mapped to the poliovirus genome (69.5% for pre-treated stool and 75.8% for isolate) with a great depth of sequencing coverage (5,931 and 11,581, respectively) and complete genome coverage (100%). The two key attenuating mutations in the Sabin 2 strain had reverted (A481G in the 5'UTR and Ile143Thr in VP1). In addition, the genome had a recombinant structure between type-2 poliovirus and an unidentified non-polio enterovirus-C (NPEV-C) strain with a crossover point in the protease-2A genomic region. VP1 phylogenetic analysis revealed that this strain is closely related to VDPV2 strains circulating in Senegal in 2021. According to Bayesian phylogenetics, the most recent common ancestor of the imported VDPV2 could date back 2.6 years (95% HPD: 1.7-3.7) in Senegal. We suggest that all VDPV2s circulating in 2020-21 in Senegal, Guinea, Gambia, and Mauritania have an ancestral origin in Senegal estimated around 2015. All 50 stool samples from healthy case contacts collected in Spain (n = 25) and Senegal (n = 25) and four wastewater samples collected in Spain were poliovirus negative. Discussion: By using a whole-genome sequencing protocol with unbiased metagenomics from the clinical sample and viral isolate with high sequence coverage, efficiency, and throughput, we confirmed the classification of VDPV as a circulating type. The close genomic linkage with strains from Senegal was consistent with their classification as imported. Given the scarce number of complete genome sequences for NPEV-C in public databases, this protocol could help expand poliovirus and NPEV-C sequencing capacity worldwide.This study was partially supported by two grants from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III [grant numbers PI18CIII/00017 and PI20CIII/00005].S
Practical Design of Electronic Emergency Stop Devices for Machine Safety
A variety of safety protective devices (SPDs) are currently available on the machinery safety market. SPD complexity and cost depend on the safety feature implemented as required for a specific piece of machinery in its working environment. However, one type of inexpensive SPD is mandatory for many types of machines: the emergency stop device (ESD). This paper introduces a novel ESD recently developed by the authors. This electronic ESD is capable of automatically performing emergency stop actions as commanded by a suitable external supervisory safety system connected to it, which may replace or reinforce the human action expected for the provision of safety. In addition, the device allows integration with any emergency stop circuit already designed for machinery by means of configurable features. Both practical design and implementation issues are discussed in detail through a fully exemplified concept-design-prototype-validation procedure

Rare Recombinant GI.5[P4] Norovirus That Caused a Large Foodborne Outbreak of Gastroenteritis in a Hotel in Spain in 2021
Noroviruses are among the most important causes of acute gastroenteritis (AGE). In summer 2021, a large outbreak of norovirus infections affecting 163 patients, including 15 norovirus-confirmed food handlers, occurred in a hotel in Murcia in southeast Spain. A rare GI.5[P4] norovirus strain was identified as the cause of the outbreak. The epidemiological investigation determined that norovirus transmission might have been initiated through an infected food handler. The food safety inspection found that some symptomatic food handlers continued working during illness. Molecular investigation with whole-genome and ORF1 sequencing provided enhanced genetic discrimination over ORF2 sequencing alone and enabled differentiation of the GI.5[P4] strains into separate subclusters, suggesting different chains of transmission. These recombinant viruses have been identified circulating globally over the last 5 years, warranting further global surveillance. IMPORTANCE Due to the large genetic diversity of noroviruses, it is important to enhance the discriminatory power of typing techniques to differentiate strains when investigating outbreaks and elucidating transmission chains. This study highlights the importance of (i) using whole-genome sequencing to ensure genetic differentiation of GI noroviruses to track chains of transmission during outbreak investigations and (ii) the adherence of symptomatic food handlers to work exclusion rules and strict hand hygiene practices. To our knowledge, this study provides the first full-length genome sequences of GI.5[P4] strains apart from the prototype strain.We thank the Genomics and Bioinformatic Departments at the ISCIII for technical assistance. Association of occupational heat exposure and colorectal cancer in the MCC-Spain study
Objective Heat exposure and heat stress/strain is a concern for many workers. There is increasing interest in potential chronic health effects of occupational heat exposure, including cancer risk. We examined potential associations of occupational heat exposure and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk in a large Spanish multi-case- control study.Methods We analyzed data on 1198 histologically confirmed CRC cases and 2690 frequency-matched controls. The Spanish job-exposure matrix, MatEmEsp, was used to assign heat exposure estimates to the lifetime occupa-tions of participants. Three exposure indices were assessed: ever versus never exposed, cumulative exposure and duration (years). We estimated odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) using unconditional logistic regression adjusting for potential confounders.Results Overall, there was no association of ever, compared with never, occupational heat exposure and CRC (OR 1.09, 95% CI 0.92-1.29). There were also no associations observed according to categories of cumulative exposure or duration, and there was no evidence for a trend. There was no clear association of ever occupational heat exposure and CRC in analysis conducted among either men or women when analyzed separately. Positive associations were observed among women in the highest categories of cumulative exposure (OR 1.81, 95% CI 1.09-3.03) and duration (OR 2.89, 95% CI 1.50-5.59) as well as some evidence for a trend (P<0.05).Conclusion Overall, this study provides no clear evidence for an association between occupational heat exposure and CRC
Sustained low disease activity measured by ASDAS slow radiographic spinal progression in axial spondyloarthritis patients treated with TNF-inhibitors: data from REGISPONSERBIO
Background To evaluate the influence of the disease activity on radiographic progression in axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) patients treated with TNF inhibitors (TNFi). Methods The study included 101 axSpA patients from the Spanish Register of Biological Therapy in Spondyloarthritides (REGISPONSERBIO), which had clinical data and radiographic assessment available. Patients were classified into 2 groups based on the duration of TNFi treatment at baseline: (i) long-term treatment (>= 4 years) and (ii) no long-term treatment (= 2 mSASSS units. At inclusion, approximately half of the patients (45.5%) were receiving long-term treatment with TNFi (>= 4 years). In this group of subjects, a significant difference in averaged Ankylosing Spondylitis disease Activity Score (ASDAS) across follow-up was found between progressors and non-progressors (2.33 vs 1.76, p=0.027, respectively). In patients not under long-term TNFi treatment (54.5%) though, no significant ASDAS differences were observed between progressors and non-progressors until the third year of follow-up. Furthermore, no significant differences were found in progression status, when disease activity was measured by Bath Ankylosing spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) and C reactive protein (CRP). Conclusions Patients on long-term TNFi treatment with a mean sustained low disease activity measures by ASDAS presented lower radiographic progression than those with active disease
Relative validity of a semi-quantitative food-frequency questionnaire in an elderly Mediterranean population of Spain
The aim of the present study was to assess reproducibility and relative validity of a self-administered FFQ used in the PREDIMED Study, a clinical trial for primary prevention of CVD by Mediterranean diet in a population at high cardiovascular risk. The FFQ was administered twice (FFQ1 and FFQ2) to explore reproducibility at 1 year. Four 3d dietary records (DR) were used as reference to explore validity; participants therefore recorded their food intake over 12 d in the course of 1 year. The degree of misclassification in the FFQ was also evaluated by a contingency table of quintiles comparing the information from the FFQ2 and the DR. A total of 158 men and women (aged 55-80 years) were asked not to modify their dietary habits during the study period. Reproducibility for food groups, energy and nutrient intake, explored by the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) raneed 0.50-0.82, and the intraclass correlation coefficient ([CC) ranged from 0.63 to 0.90. The FFQ2 tended to report higher energy and nutrient intake than the DR. The validity indices of the FFQ in relation to the DR for food groups and energy and nutrient intake ranged (r) from 0.24 to 0.72, while the ranee of the ICC: was between 0.40 and 0.84. With regard to food groups, 68-83 % of individuals were in the same or adjacent quintile in both methods, a figure which decreased to 55-75 % for enemy and nutrient intake. We concluded that FFQ measurements had :good reproducibility and a relative validity similar to those of FFQ used in other prospective studies
Grupo español de cirugía torácica asistida por videoimagen: método, auditoría y resultados iniciales de una cohorte nacional prospectiva de pacientes tratados con resecciones anatómicas del pulmón
Introduction: our study sought to know the current implementation of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for anatomical lung resections in Spain. We present our initial results and describe the auditing systems developed by the Spanish VATS Group (GEVATS). Methods: we conducted a prospective multicentre cohort study that included patients receiving anatomical lung resections between 12/20/2016 and 03/20/2018. The main quality controls consisted of determining the recruitment rate of each centre and the accuracy of the perioperative data collected based on six key variables. The implications of a low recruitment rate were analysed for '90-day mortality' and 'Grade IIIb-V complications'. Results: the series was composed of 3533 cases (1917 VATS; 54.3%) across 33 departments. The centres' median recruitment rate was 99% (25-75th:76-100%), with an overall recruitment rate of 83% and a data accuracy of 98%. We were unable to demonstrate a significant association between the recruitment rate and the risk of morbidity/mortality, but a trend was found in the unadjusted analysis for those centres with recruitment rates lower than 80% (centres with 95-100% rates as reference): grade IIIb-V OR=0.61 (p=0.081), 90-day mortality OR=0.46 (p=0.051). Conclusions: more than half of the anatomical lung resections in Spain are performed via VATS. According to our results, the centre's recruitment rate and its potential implications due to selection bias, should deserve further attention by the main voluntary multicentre studies of our speciality. The high representativeness as well as the reliability of the GEVATS data constitute a fundamental point of departure for this nationwide cohort
Effect of the Mediterranean diet on blood pressure in the PREDIMED trial: results from a randomized controlled trial
BackgroundHypertension can be prevented by adopting healthy dietary patterns. Our aim was to assess the 4-year effect on blood pressure (BP) control of a randomized feeding trial promoting the traditional Mediterranean dietary pattern.MethodsThe PREDIMED primary prevention trial is a randomized, single-blinded, controlled trial conducted in Spanish primary healthcare centers. We recruited 7,447 men (aged 55 to 80 years) and women (aged 60 to 80 years) who had high risk for cardiovascular disease. Participants were assigned to a control group or to one of two Mediterranean diets. The control group received education on following a low-fat diet, while the groups on Mediterranean diets received nutritional education and also free foods; either extra virgin olive oil, or nuts. Trained personnel measured participants’ BP at baseline and once yearly during a 4-year follow-up. We used generalized estimating equations to assess the differences between groups during the follow-up.ResultsThe percentage of participants with controlled BP increased in all three intervention groups (P-value for within-group changes: P<0.001). Participants allocated to either of the two Mediterranean diet groups had significantly lower diastolic BP than the participants in the control group (−1.53 mmHg (95% confidence interval (CI) −2.01 to −1.04) for the Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra virgin olive oil, and −0.65 mmHg (95% CI -1.15 to −0.15) mmHg for the Mediterranean diet supplemented with nuts). No between-group differences in changes of systolic BP were seen.ConclusionsBoth the traditional Mediterranean diet and a low-fat diet exerted beneficial effects on BP and could be part of advice to patients for controlling BP. However, we found lower values of diastolic BP in the two groups promoting the Mediterranean diet with extra virgin olive oil or with nuts than in the control group.Trial registrationCurrent Controlled Trials ISRCTN3573963
