The present study sought to analyze the importance of the Public Defender's Office in the defense of persons accused of drug trafficking and the study of criminal selectivity in the current Criminal Drug Policy in Brazil. For the clientele of the penal system is usually composed of people belonging to the lowest social levels and these are precisely those assisted by the Public Defender, since they are part of this process of selective and unequal criminalization of people within the total population and are the main targets Of the stereotype pursued as drug trafficker.O presente estudo buscou analisar a importância da Defensoria Pública na defesa de pessoas acusadas de tráfico de drogas e o estudo da seletividade penal na atual Política Criminal de Drogas no Brasil. Pois a clientela do sistema penal é normalmente composta por pessoas pertencentes aos mais baixos níveis sociais e são justamente esses os assistidos pela Defensoria Pública, já que elas fazem parte desse processo de criminalização seletivo e desigual de pessoas dentro da população total e são os principais alvos do estereotipo perseguido como traficante de drogas

Importância da Decisão de Pronúncia, o Papel do Juiz e a Finalidade do Processo Penal à Luz da Constituição da República

This paper seeks to analyze the purpose of the criminal process, the role of the judge and the importance of the decision of pronouncement through the glass of the Constitution of the Republic, reinforcing, doctrinally, the need to materialize the model proposed in the Major Text, that is, directed respect for fundamental rights and apart from bureaucratic and authoritarian practices that still influence Brazilian’s law.Este trabalho busca analisar o objetivo do processo penal, a função do juiz e a importância da decisão de pronúncia através do vidro da Constituição da República, reforçando, doutrinariamente, a necessidade de que se concretize o modelo proposto no Texto Maior, isto é, direcionado ao respeito aos direitos fundamentais e apartado das práticas burocráticas e autoritárias que ainda influenciam o Direito brasileiro.

AS OPERAÇÕES DE COMBATE À CORRUPÇÃO NO BRASIL E O IMPACTO NAS CIÊNCIAS CRIMINAIS

O presente trabalho parte da premissa de que as operações espetacularizadas inviabilizam o respeito as garantias edificantes do devido processo penal constitucional, democrático e convencional. Tem-se como objetivo discorrer sobre as mudanças causadas nas Ciências Criminais (Política Criminal e Processo Penal, principalmente) pelas cada vez mais recorrentes e impactantes operações policiais, midiáticas e ministeriais voltadas “ao combate ao crime”, com destaque para as práticas corruptivas. A pesquisa, utilizando-se de pesquisa bibliográfica, trará apontamentos sobre os riscos de que o modelo constitucional de apuração, acusação e julgamento de crimes seja deixado de lado, sem a necessária discussão política e democrática, aproximando-se de um espetáculo. Para tanto, as seguintes problemáticas/questionamentos guiarão o encadeamento desta pesquisa: a tradicional seletividade do Sistema Criminal brasileiro sofreu alguma modificação? Essa cruzada contra a corrupção é compatível com o formato de processo penal constitucional e convencional adotado no Brasil? Em nome do alegado eficientismo, o processo penal pode ser idealizado de forma utilitarista, a despeito da inexistência de qualquer reforma constitucional nesse sentido? Assim, pretende-se agregar ao debate acadêmico do tema, colaborando para a valorização dos direitos fundamentais em sede de qualquer processo penal, seja qual for o delito imputado ou a pessoa processada

Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.
