Multibody system dynamics is already a well developed branch of theoretical, computational and applied mechanics. Thousands of documents can be found in any of the well-known scientific databases. In this work it is demonstrated that multibody system dynamics is built of many thematic communities. Using the Elsevier’s abstract and citation database SCOPUS, a massive amount of data is collected and analyzed with the use of the open source visualization tool Gephi. The information is represented as a large set of nodes with connections to study their graphical distribution and explore geometry and symmetries. A randomized radial symmetry is found in the graphical representation of the collected information. Furthermore, the concept of modularity is used to demonstrate that community structures are present in the field of multibody system dynamics. In particular, twenty-four different thematic communities have been identified. The scientific production of each community is analyzed, which allows to predict its growing rate in the next years. The journals and conference proceedings mainly used by the authors belonging to the community as well as the cooperation between them by country are also analyzed

[EN] Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) is a biodegradable aliphatic polyester obtained through bacterial fermentation that has gained attention in the last few years; nevertheless, its industrial applications are restricted because of some drawbacks related to its high stiffness and fragility which is associated to its high crystallinity. In this work, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (P3HB) was melt blended with poly(e-caprolactone) (PCL) at a constant weight ratio of 75/25 (P3HB/PCL) by reactive extrusion with different contents of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) in the 0 1 wt% range. The effects of the DCP load on mechanical, thermal and morphology of the P3HB/PCL blend were studied. Results showed a positive increase in the elongation at break and the impact-absorbed energy of 91% and 231% respectively with regard the uncompatibilized P3HB/PCL blend by the addition of 1 wt% DCP, being this a clear evidenced of the improved compatibility between these polymers. Moreover, morphology of DCP-compatibilized P3HB/PCL blend obtained by field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed a remarkable decrease in the particle size of poly(e-caprolactone)-rich domains randomly dispersed in the poly(3-hydroxybutyrate). In addition, both FESEM and AFM also revealed improved interfacial adhesion between P3HB- and PCL-rich phases with a noticeable decrease in the gap between them. Addition of 1 wt% DCP also contributes to lowering the degree of crystallinity of PHB by 14% in the blend and other thermal properties are not highly affected by the reactive extrusion with DCP. ©2016 Elsevier Ltd. Article number 9524572Analogies between mechanical and electrical systems have been developed and applied for almost a century, and they have proved their usefulness in the study of mechanical and electrical systems. The development of new elements such as the inerter or the memristor is a clear example. However, new applications and possibilities of using these analogues remain to be explored. In this work, the electrical analogues of different vehicle models are presented. A new and not previously reported analogy between inertial coupling and electrostatic capacitive coupling is found and described. Several examples are provided to highlight the benefits of this analogy. Well-known mechanical systems like the half-car or three three-axle vehicle models are discussed and some numerical results are presented. To the best of the author’s knowledge, such systems were never dealt with by using a full electromechanical analogy. The mechanical equations are also derived and compared with those of the electrical domain for harmonic steady-state analysis.

A retrospective study of 188 children complaining of displaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus was performed. The period of the study was 1986 to 1997 and all the fractures were treated by closed reduction and percutaneous pinning with two kirschner wires. Gartland classification was used to assess the fracture's displacement. The results were studied clinically and radiologically following Flynn criteria. In the long term follow up 154 cases (82%) were considered satisfactory. A lack of radial pulse was reported in 22 cases (12%) and in all of them a total recovery was achieved after the reduction and stabilization of the fracture. We also record 28 cases (15%) of neural injuries with full recovery between two and six months time. The most frequent permanent damage was cubitus varus in 23 cases (12%) but with little functional impairment

[EN] During the academic year 2016-17 the flipped classroom methodology was implemented using the GOOGLE CLASS platform in the "waste treatment" subject. This methodology has allowed students to have more time in the classroom to solve doubts and practical problems, increasing collaborative work. Using this methodology, the self-assessment test score increased compared to other years and students prefer this methodology to the traditional master class as indicated in an anonymous survey.[ES] Durante el curso académico 2016-17 se ha implantado la metodología de clase inversa utilizando la plataforma GOOGLE CLASSROOM en la asignatura "Tratamiento de Residuos". We analyzed CIMP status of 229 individuals with CRC using an eight-marker panel (CACNA1G, CDKN2A, CRABP1, IGF2, MLH1, NEUROG1, RUNX3 and SOCS1); CIMP-(+) tumors were defined as having ≥ 5 methylated markers. Patients were divided into individuals who developed a "unique" CRC, which were subclassified into early-onset CRC (EOCRC) and late-onset CRC (LOCRC), and patients with multiple primary CRCs subclassified into synchronous CRC (SCRC) and metachronous CRC (MCRC). We found 9 (15.2%) CIMP-(+) EOCRC patients related with the proximal colon (p = 0.008), and 19 (26.8%) CIMP-(+) LOCRC patients associated with tumor differentiation (p = 0.045), MSI status (p = 0.021) and BRAF mutation (p = 0.001). Thirty-five (64.8%) SCRC patients had at least one CIMP-(+) tumor and 20 (44.4%) MCRC patients presented their first tumor as CIMP-(+). Thirty-nine (72.2%) SCRC patients showed concordant CIMP status in their simultaneous tumors. The differences in CIMP-(+) frequency between groups may reflect the importance of taking into account several criteria for the development of multiple primary neoplasms. Additionally, the concordance between synchronous tumors suggests CIMP status is generally maintained in SCRC patients.S

Association of polyps with early-onset colorectal cancer and throughout surveillance: Novel clinical and molecular implications

Early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is an increasing and worrisome entity. The aim of this study was to analyze its association with polyps concerning prognosis and surveillance. EOCRC cases were compared regarding the presence or absence of associated polyps (clinical and molecular features), during a minimum of 7 years of follow-up. Of 119 cases, 56 (47%) did not develop polyps (NP group), while 63 (53%) did (P group). The NP group showed a predominant location of the CRC in the rectum (50%), of sporadic cases (54%), and diagnosis at advanced stages: Only P53 and SMARCB1 mutations were statistically linked to this group. The P group, including mainly early-diagnosed tumors, was linked with the most frequent and differential altered chromosomal regions in the array comparative genomic hybridization. The two most frequent groups according to the follow-up were the NP group (40%), and patients developing polyps in the first 5 years of follow-up (P 5FU) showed a mucinous component (50%). Our results show that the absence or presence of polyps in EOCRC is an important prognostic factor with differential phenotypes. The development of polyps during surveillance shows that it is necessary to extend the follow-up time, also in those cases with microsatellite-stable EOCRCThis work was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Health and ConsumerA airs and FEDER, grant number PI10/00683 and PI16/01650 to J.P.G., PI16/01920 to R.G.S., and PI14/00459 to M.U., and by the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, grant number R01 CA72851, CA18172, CA184792 and U01 CA187956 to A.G

Une synthèse sur la restauration fluviale dans le bassin de l’Èbre

    Get PDF
