    Avaliação de desempenho entre substrato e um sistema de aquaponia com tilápias (Oreochromis niloticus) para o cultivo de alface (Lactuca sativa) e chicória (Cichorium intybus)

Curso de Agronomia.Tilápias (Oreochromis niloticus), alface (Lactuca sativa) e chicória (Cichorium intybus) foram utilizadas para testar o desempenho inicial de um sistema de produção integrado de aquaponia experimental com água doce. A densidade de cultivo foi equivalente a 96 peixes/m3 com peso médio inicial 0,13 (g/peixe). Utilizou-se arraçoamento com base em 10% da biomassa dos tanques, com ração comercial peletizada de 7 mm contendo 28% de proteína bruta (PB). A sobrevivência dos peixes foi de 93,75%. As tilápia apresentaram ganho de biomassa total de 1,41 gramas, e taxa de crescimento 0,133 (g/dia). Através do software GRAPH obteve-se coeficiente angular F(x) nos tratamentos com chicória F(x)= 0,6834 para testemunha e F(x)= 0,3883 na aquaponia e para a alface F(x)= 0,4767 para testemunha e F(x)= 0,3686 na aquaponia. No software Excel foi obtida a média e o desvio padrão (em gramas) das hortaliças nos tratamentos. Na aquaponia foi de 69,18±20,42 e 64,37±16,33 para alface e chicória, respectivamente, e na testemunha foi de 99,48±19,51 e 140,21±28,97 respectivamente para alface e chicória. De forma geral, os resultados sugerem que a elaboração de um sistema de aquaponia seja compatível com a biomassa de peixe no sistema, para produzir peixes e vegetais com maior eficiência dos recursos disponíveisTilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and chicory (Cichorium intybus) were used to test the initial performance of an integrated system of experimental aquaponics with fresh water. The culture density was equivalent to 96 fish / m 3 with initial mean weight 0.13 (g / fish). Feeding was done based on 10% of the biomass of the tanks, with commercial pelleted feed of 7 mm containing 28% crude protein (CP). Fish survival was 93.75%. Tilapia presented total biomass gain of 1.41 grams, and growth rate 0.133 (g / day). Using the GRAPH software, angular coefficient F (x) was obtained for treatments with chicory F (x) = 0.6834 for control and F (x) = 0.3888 for aquaponics and for lettuce F (x) = 0.4767 For control and F (x) = 0.3668 on the aquaponics. In the Excel software, the mean and the standard deviation (in grams) of the vegetables in the treatments were obtained. In the aquaponics it was 69.18 ± 20.42 and 64.37 ± 16.33 for lettuce and chicory, respectively, and in the control it was 99.48 ± 19.51 and 140.21 ± 28.97 respectively for lettuce and chicory. In general, the results suggest that the development of an aquaponics system is compatible with the fish biomass in the system, to produce fish and vegetables with greater efficiency of the available resources

    Novel technologies and process intensification in the production of micro-systems with pharmacological/nutraceutical activity

    2011 - 2012Purpose of the PhD thesis was to develop a novel microencapsulation process, designing and building a single-pot semi-continuous bench scale apparatus. The novel process is based on the coupling of two emerging techniques, involving ultrasound and microwave, used in atomization and heating operations, respectively. The process has been designed to respond to the needs for process intensification, i.e. improvement of process efficiency and cutting down of energy consumption. With this aim, a review of the main processes used for microencapsulation was first performed: conventional processes showed a number of drawbacks, such as high energy consumption, batch configuration, use of solvents and long times of production. On the basis of the state of the art, the idea of an intensified apparatus for particles production, exploiting alternative resources, such as ultrasound and microwave, was formulated. The apparatus was composed of three main sections: feeding, atomization, separation/stabilization. The feeding and atomization sections were built connecting a double channel ultrasonic atomizer to a system for feeding solutions in a purposely designed separation/stabilization section, thus realizing a semi-continuous apparatus. Separation section consisted of a wet-collector, i.e. a sort of hydrocyclone, which allowed a uniform distribution of the hardening solution and the consequent contact with the atomized drops, a filtering device, and a microwave oven. The wet-collector was placed into the microwave oven to obtain an “on-line” drying. Recirculation of the hardening solution, to renew contact surface between droplets and cross-linker, was guaranteed by a system of centrifugal pumps. In this configuration, when atomization occurred, drops were harvested in the wet-collector. After atomization, the obtained suspension was collected in the cross-linker tank, then the filtering device was inserted in the lower part of the wet-collector, so that hardening solution was recovered and particles settled on the filter, when the suspension was brought again to the wet-collector and after its complete emptying. An eventual following washing step can be done in a similar way to the previous hardening step. Finally, particles were stabilized by microwave drying, and then recovered. The steps for building the microencapsulation apparatus were accurately shown. Then, criteria used for components selection, in order to obtain the best performances from the plant, were highlighted. After building the plant, the process parameters were defined. First, the research for the best combination of feeding parameters, such as type of materials, composition, concentration and feed rate, that assure the encapsulation of the core material in the shell, was carried out. Then, the parameters of the ultrasonic atomizer (atomization section), essentially power, were tuned. Finally, for stabilization/separation section, fundamental was the relevant stabilization step, where microwave power was set to avoid too high temperatures that could degrade molecules...     Impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho de servidores públicos

    Considerando a importância e a necessidade de avaliar o impacto de ações de treinamento, desenvolvimento e educação (TD&E) para as organizações, esta pesquisa analisa o impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho de servidores públicos e a influência de variáveis individuais, contextuais, de aprendizagem, de características de cursos e programas institucionais nesse impacto. O estudo considera o contexto de uma Instituição Federal de Ensino Superior (IFES) e de trabalhadores que não exercem docência. Para isso, procedeu-se com as seguintes etapas, as quais também compuseram os objetivos específicos da pesquisa: i) definição de um instrumento que permita avaliar o impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho (medida em amplitude), considerando variáveis de autoeficácia, suporte psicossocial e material e desenvolvimento de competências para o trabalho; ii) investigação da existência de associação significativa de autoeficácia, suporte psicossocial e material com o desenvolvimento de competências e o impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho; iii) investigação de existência de associação significativa entre desenvolvimento de competências e impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho; iv) investigação sobre a influência de pesquisas aplicadas ao trabalho (dissertações e teses) e v) de características de cursos e de programas institucionais no impacto da qualificação no trabalho. Entre as contribuições teóricas desta pesquisa estão: i) validação de escalas de variáveis vinculadas ao impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho; ii) identificação de variáveis envolvidas nesse impacto; iii) identificação de resultados sobre a influência de características de cursos e de programas institucionais no impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho. Também, foram indicadas ações gerenciais práticas, no contexto da IFES pesquisada, que, se aplicadas, podem promover um ambiente mais propício ao aproveitamento da aprendizagem, resultando em maior impacto da qualificação stricto sensu no trabalho dos servidores públicos.Given the importance and necessity to evaluate the impact of training, development and education (TD&E) actions for organizations, this research analyzes the impact of stricto sensu qualification on the work of civil servants as well as the influence of individual, contextual, learning, course characteristic and institutional program variables. The study considers the context of a Federal Higher Education Institution (FHEI) and of workers who do not practice teaching. Therefore, the following stages, which have also consisted in the specific objectives of the research, were carried out: i) investigation of the existence of a significant association between self-efficacy, psychosocial and material support with the development of competencies and the impact of stricto sensu qualification on work; ii) investigation of the existence of a significant association between the development of competencies and the impact of stricto sensu qualification on work; iii) investigation on the influence of research applied to work (dissertations and theses) and iv) of courses and institutional programs characteristics on the impact of work qualification. Among the theoretical contributions of this research are: i) validation of variable scales linked to the impact of stricto sensu qualification on work; ii) identification of a model of variables involved in this impact; iii) identification of results on the influence of courses and institutional programs characteristics on the impact of stricto sensu qualification on work. Furthermore, practical management actions were pointed out in the context of the FHEI researched that, if applied, could promote a more proper environment for learning, resulting in greater impact of the stricto sensu qualification on the work of civil servants

    A visão da sustentabilidade na atividade empreendedora: uma análise a partir de empresas incubadas

    Sustainable entrepreneurship emerges in the interconnection of the concepts of sustainability and entrepreneurship. This research aimed to analyze the presence of the sustainability pillars in the entrepreneur profile of businesses owners incubated in INOVATES - Center for Technological Innovation, located in Lajeado – RS - Brazil. In epistemological level, this study has a qualitative approach, using the case study method. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews with four companies that are in the incubation process and analyzed through content analysis. Among the results, it was observed that the entrepreneurs interviewed showed a greater concern about the economic pillar of sustainability, which is the guiding of entrepreneur process. In some cases, social sustainability presents a higher degree of importance, especially on ethical issues and product or service impact to the society. Environmental sustainability is a small present in the context of entrepreneurs analyzed.O empreendedorismo sustentável está alicerçado na interligação dos conceitos de sustentabilidade e empreendedorismo. Desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a presença a sustentabilidade no perfil empreendedor dos proprietários de empresas incubadas na INOVATES – Centro de Inovação Tecnológica, localizada no município de Lajeado - RS. Epistemológicamente, o presente estudo possui um corte transversal por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizando-se do método de estudo de caso. Os dados foram coletados por entrevistas semiestruturadas junto a quatro empresas que estão em processo de incubação e analisadas por meio de análise de conteúdo. Dentre os resultados, observou-se que os empreendedores entrevistados demonstraram ter uma preocupação maior quanto ao pilar da sustentabilidade econômica, sendo este o norteador no processo de empreender. Em algumas questões, a sustentabilidade social apresenta um grau de importância mais elevado, principalmente quanto a questões éticas e de impacto do produto ou serviço prestado perante a sociedade. A sustentabilidade ambiental está pouco presente no contexto dos empreendedores analisados

    Consumidor fora de estrada: uma análise da cultura de consumo off-road

    Cultural meanings construction and sharing through consumption activities has been defined as sub-culture of consumption (SCHOUTEN; MCALEXANDER, 1995). With an approach in off-road culture, I seek to understand how consumption mediates the cultural meaning and categories construction associated with 4wheels vehicles and the role of consumption of this type of vehicle in the creation and maintenance of off-road culture. This approach is motivated by the characteristics of culture off-road, which has the 4wheels vehicles as a totemic object. In conducting this study, I got inspiration in the ethnography, with data collection in three different stages of involvement, using observant participation and informal interviews. Results indicate that cultural meanings and categories emerge from the existence of an object viewed by the group as a totem – 4wheels vehicles. The creation and maintenance of off-road culture is resulted of different levels of interaction around the totem. It is understood, therefore, in the analyzed culture, cultural meanings and categories do not emerge from a simple consumption action, but an interaction of different levels (meanings/categories, actors and forms of consumption) around an object considered as a totem by the group.A construção e o compartilhamento de significados culturais, por meio das atividades  de consumo, têm sido definidos como uma subcultura de consumo (SCHOUTEN; MCALEXANDER, 1995). Com uma abordagem na cultura off-road, busca-se entender como o consumo interfere na construção de significados e categorias culturais associadas a veículos 4x4 e qual o papel do consumo deste tipo de veículo na criação e manutenção da cultura off-road. Essa abordagem é motivada pelas características da cultura off-road, que possui o veículo 4x4 como um objeto totêmico. Na condução deste estudo, buscou-se uma inspiração na etnografia, com levantamento de dados em três etapas distintas de envolvimento por meio de participação observante e entrevistas informais. Os resultados indicam que os significados e categoriais culturais emergem da existência de um objeto considerado pelo grupo como totem − os veículos 4x4. A criação e manutenção da cultura off-road é resultado de diferentes níveis de interação em torno do seu totem. Entende-se, dessa forma, que no âmbito da cultura analisada, os significados e categorias culturais não emergem de uma simples ação de consumo, mas de uma interação de diferentes níveis (significados/categorias; atores e formas de consumo) em torno de um objeto considerado um totem pelo grupo.

    REDES DE PROMOÇÃO INTERNACIONAL E SUAS CONTRIBUIÇÕES NO PROCESSO DE INTERNACIONALIZAÇÃO: O CASO DO PSI WINES FROM

    This study focuses the formal international promotion networks, formed by companiesthat operate in the same sector and country of origin. The objective is to analyze aninternational promotion network and its contribution in the internationalization processof affiliates companies. For this, it was carried out a literature review on the followingtopics: network cooperation, internationalization and network formation forinternationalization. Empirical evidence was collected through a qualitative approachthrough a case study. The unit of analysis was the Integrated Sector Project (PSI) Winesfrom Brazil , formed by 39 wine companies and supported by the Brazilian Institute ofWine - IBRAVIN and APEX Brazil. Network was observed through issue-based netview, focusing on the linkages between network members. Empirical evidence wascollected during visits in loco, through semi-structured interviews with 14 companies’managers and two network managers. Data were interpreted using the content analysistechnique. For analysis support, it was developed a conceptual matrix, with fourconstructs: relationships between stakeholders, government policies, networkparticipation effects and changes generation. Results indicate that the network formationcontributes with internationalization process of affiliates companies mainly throughfinancial support and information and knowledge exchange. Network consists in astructural link between companies, government and sectorial institutions that enablesthe exchange of resources required for internationalization. Networks affiliation is astrategic option, especially for less internationally developed industries. Furthermore,results point out effects of sectorial policy that stimulate the formation of internationalpromotion networks.O presente estudo foca a natureza de redes de promoção internacional formais,formadas por empresas que operam no mesmo setor e país de origem. O objetivo éanalisar uma rede de promoção internacional e a sua contribuição no processo deinternacionalização das empresas afiliadas. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão naliteratura sobre os temas de redes interorganizacionais de cooperação,internacionalização e a formação de redes para internacionalização, bem como a coletade evidências empíricas por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa utilizando-se dométodo de estudo de caso. A unidade de análise consiste no Projeto Setorial Integrado(PSI) Wines From Brazil, formado por 39 empresas do setor vinícola e mantido peloInstituto Brasileiro do Vinho – IBRAVIN com o apoio da APEX Brasil e observada pormeio da visão de issue-based net, com foco nas interligações entre os membros da rede.A coleta das evidências ocorreu durante visitas in loco, por meio de entrevistassemiestruturadas com os gestores de 14 empresas participantes da rede, mais doisgestores executivos do projeto Wines From Brazil. Os dados foram interpretados pormeio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Como auxílio à análise, foi elaborada umamatriz de agrupamento conceitual, formada por quatro construtos: relação entre osatores, políticas governamentais, efeitos da participação na rede e geração de mudanças.Os resultados indicam que a formação da rede contribui no processo deinternacionalização das empresas associadas principalmente por meio do suportefinanceiro e da troca de informações e conhecimentos. A rede consiste numa estruturade ligação entre empresas, governo e entidades setoriais que permite a troca de recursosnecessários para a internacionalização. A associação em redes consiste numa opçãoestratégica, especialmente no caso de setores menos desenvolvidos internacionalmente.Em adição, os resultados apontam para os efeitos das políticas setoriais de estímulo àformação de redes de promoção internacional

    Single-Pot Semicontinuous Bench Scale Apparatus To Produce Microparticles

    This work presents both the design of a novel process to produce microparticles with a shell−core structure and a bench scale apparatus purposely realized. The developed process was designed to respond to mandatory needs of process intensification. It involved the coupling of two emergent technologies: atomization assisted by ultrasonic energy and microwave heating. The former was used to atomize polymeric solutions; the latter was applied to stabilize the produced droplets by drying. Both operations were performed in the same vessel with the aim to have a single-pot process chamber and were carried out by a semicontinuous procedure. Basic design criteria and advantages of the ultrasonic−microwave coupled operations in the realized apparatus are presented and discussed. Results of testing and of operating runs to produce shell−core microparticles are also reported, emphasizing the main features of the produced particles

    Normal delivery and cesarean section : cost per brazilian regions, 2015

    OBJECTIVE: To describe the number of funds made by the Brazilian National Health System to normal delivery and cesarean procedures, according to the Brazilian regions in 2015, and estimate the cost cutting if the recommendation concerning the prevalence of cesarean deliveries by the World Health Organization (10 to 15%) were respected. METHODS: Secondary analysis of data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian National Health System. The variables considered were the type of delivery (cesarean section and normal), geographic region of admission, length of stay and amount paid for admission in 2015. RESULTS: In the year 2015, there were 984,307 admissions to perform labor in the five Brazilian regions, of which 36.2% were cesarean section. The Northeast and Southeast regions were the two regions that had the highest number of normal deliveries and cesarean sections. The overall average hospital stay for delivery was 3.2 days. About R650million(US 650 million (US 208,5 million) were paid, 45% of the total in cesarean deliveries. If the maximum prevalence proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) were considered, there would be a potential reduction in spending in the order of R57.7million(US 57.7 million (US 18,5 million). CONCLUSIONS: Cesarean sections are above the parameter recommended by the WHO in all Brazilian regions. The Northeast and Southeast had the highest total number of normal and cesarean deliveries and thus the greatest potential reduction in estimated costs (69.6% of all considered reduction)

Springer. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-02568-7_69Tradition has been described in consumer studies as a powerful instrument for consumer identity construction even in a globalized consumer culture (Izberk-Bilgin 2012; Varman and Belk 2009; Türe and Ger 2016). In these terms, tradition can perform significant role in contemporary multicultural marketplaces (Cruz et al. 20017), cultural acceptability (Sinha and Sheth 2017), and brand evaluations and choices (Dogerlioglu-Demir et al. 2017). Drawing on these recent studies, we contribute to the literature exploring how consumers use tradition in fostering identity in an emerging market. Particularly, we shift the discussion involving tradition versus globalization to explore the traditionscapes, that is, a fluid consumer’s appropriation of certain traditions as a resource to build their identity at large in emerging markets. To explore this concept empirically, we adopt a multilevel approach involving qualitative and quantitative data collection with South Brazilian consumers connected with gaucho traditions. At the exploratory level, we identify three themes that describe consumers’ appropriation of certain tradition as a resource to build their identity: (1) cultural drives, (2) identity formation, and (3) tradition value. Even that in a symbolic way, tradition allows building a sense of belonging recognized as unique and locally accepted as source of identity. Following it, we observe that tradition serves as an indexical cue useful to deal with globalization flows and to express cultural attachment. At the confirmatory level, we conduct a survey with 600 participants at a gaucho tradition show. Results provide evidences for the qualitative predictions that tradition attachment is a cultural identity process and tradition value is influenced by the three levels of identity (regional, social, cultural). Findings indicate that traditionscapes is a relevant concept to describe the way consumers appropriate certain traditions as a resource to build their identity in emerging markets. We observe yet that consumers want to preserve traditional values in their identity projects not necessarily in opposition to global culture own. Discussions provide novel insights to marketers and local governments in considering the importance of traditionscapes when in emerging markets.authorsversionpublishe
