O relato de viagem como gênero literário-filosófico em Hölderlin e Dostoiévski

Tanto na obra de Hölderlin como na de Dostoiévski a viagem ao estrangeiro exerce um papel. A ida ao estrangeiro é uma oportunidade de autoconhecimento pelo contraste. Há diferenças importantes entre as descobertas. O “nós” de Hölderlin é o europeu, enquanto o de Dostoiévski é o russo, entendido como o antiburguês. Hölderlin encontra no sul da França aspectos dos gregos antigos, que ele opõe ao “ocidental” que ele é. Dostoiévski encontra em Paris o tipo acabado do burguês, que ele oporá ao russo. Nos dois casos, a viagem põe o escritor diante da tarefa da sua arte.Both in Hölderlin’s and Dostoevsky’s work travel into foreign lands plays an important role. Loss of familiarity is an opportunity of self-knowledge by contrast. There are differences between the findings. “We” for Hölderlin stand for Europeans, while for Dostoevsky stands for Russians. Hölderlin finds in Southern Greece resemblances to Ancient Greece, that he opposes to the “Westerner” who he himself is. Dostoevsky finds in Paris the accomplished example of the bourgeois, which he will turn later into the opposite to the Russian. História da música popular e enquadramento

As dificuldades patentes envolvidas na pergunta sobre o tratamento filosófico adequado a dar à música popular são de várias ordens.  A história da filosofia partiu da premissa que esta música não é artística, pois não é erudita, e deu prioridade à sua inserção social, definindo-a como nada além de mercadoria. Neste artigo, enfatizo que a premissa está diretamente associada a uma “narrativa mestra” em que a definição de música artística e sua história se reforçam mutuamente para excluir a música popular do âmbito da música artística.  Esta narrativa concede um lugar privilegiado à música modernista ou de vanguarda.  O que foi chamado pós-modernismo não nega a validade da história da arte, apenas a sua validade como padrão de medida (enquadramento) excludente.  A liberação diante de categorias tradicionais (ou desenquadramento) permite também suspeitar da existência de uma história incipiente da música popular, o que é feito aqui como análise de uma literatura específica.  Haveria na literatura brasileira já volumosa uma tentativa de determinar o modo de ser da música popular e, por conseguinte, os seus critérios de realização ou fracasso

A distinção entre fato e essência é de grande importância para diferenciar as tarefas da ciência e da filosofia, respectivamente, no programa husserliano. O igualamento das ciências históricas e naturais, porém, é exigido pela formulação de uma disciplina eidética pura, o que levantou alguns questionamentos sobre a plausibilidade de tal disciplina. Talvez a eidética não dê conta das características autorreferentes e não objetivas da existência, cruciais para os estudos históricos. No presente artigo, proponho que ainda se pode dizer que as ciências encontram seu limite quando se deparam com perguntas essenciais. Building up an Open Data Plan for a public Research and Development organization and the challenge of an Open Agricultural Science

In keeping with the Open Data Policy of the Federal Executive Branch and the Law on Access to Information, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) has initiated discussions on the construction of its Open Data Plan – a planning tool for implementation and rationalization of open data publishing processes in public organizations. This paper aims to report the general strategy that was established for this purpose and the challenges that have been encountered in the preliminary stages of its implementation. As the opening of data by research institutions in Brazil is still in its infancy, Embrapa’s experience is expected to contribute to similar initiatives from other organizations

New genetic loci implicated in fasting glucose homeostasis and their impact on type 2 diabetes risk.

Levels of circulating glucose are tightly regulated. To identify new loci influencing glycemic traits, we performed meta-analyses of 21 genome-wide association studies informative for fasting glucose, fasting insulin and indices of beta-cell function (HOMA-B) and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in up to 46,186 nondiabetic participants. Follow-up of 25 loci in up to 76,558 additional subjects identified 16 loci associated with fasting glucose and HOMA-B and two loci associated with fasting insulin and HOMA-IR. These include nine loci newly associated with fasting glucose (in or near ADCY5, MADD, ADRA2A, CRY2, FADS1, GLIS3, SLC2A2, PROX1 and C2CD4B) and one influencing fasting insulin and HOMA-IR (near IGF1). We also demonstrated association of ADCY5, PROX1, GCK, GCKR and DGKB-TMEM195 with type 2 diabetes. Within these loci, likely biological candidate genes influence signal transduction, cell proliferation, development, glucose-sensing and circadian regulation. Our results demonstrate that genetic studies of glycemic traits can identify type 2 diabetes risk loci, as well as loci containing gene variants that are associated with a modest elevation in glucose levels but are not associated with overt diabetes

When does atopic dermatitis warrant systemic therapy? Recommendations from an expert panel of the International Eczema Council

BackgroundAlthough most patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) are effectively managed with topical medication, a significant minority require systemic therapy. Guidelines for decision making about advancement to systemic therapy are lacking.ObjectiveTo guide those considering use of systemic therapy in AD and provide a framework for evaluation before making this therapeutic decision with the patient.MethodsA subgroup of the International Eczema Council determined aspects to consider before prescribing systemic therapy. Topics were assigned to expert reviewers who performed a topic-specific literature review, referred to guidelines when available, and provided interpretation and expert opinion.ResultsWe recommend a systematic and holistic approach to assess patients with severe signs and symptoms of AD and impact on quality of life before systemic therapy. Steps taken before commencing systemic therapy include considering alternate or concomitant diagnoses, avoiding trigger factors, optimizing topical therapy, ensuring adequate patient/caregiver education, treating coexistent infection, assessing the impact on quality of life, and considering phototherapy.LimitationsOur work is a consensus statement, not a systematic review.ConclusionThe decision to start systemic medication should include assessment of severity and quality of life while considering the individual's general health status, psychologic needs, and personal attitudes toward systemic therapies
