Supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model
The supersymmetric extension of the economical 3-3-1 model is presented. The
constraint equations and the gauge boson identification establish a relation
between the vacuum expectation values (VEVs) at the top and bottom elements of
the Higgs triplet and its supersymmetric counterpart .
Because of this relation, the exact diagonalization of neutral gauge boson
sector has been performed. The gauge bosons and their associated Goldstone ones
mix in the same way as in non-supersymmetric version. This is also correct in
the case of gauginos. The eigenvalues and eigenstates in the Higgs sector are
derived. The model contains a heavy neutral Higgs boson with mass equal to
those of the neutral non-Hermitian gauge boson and a charged scalar with
mass equal to those of the boson in the standard model, i. e. . This result is in good agreement with the present
estimation: GeV, CL= 95 %. We also show that the boson
sector and the fermion sector gain masses in the same way as in the
non-supersymmetric case.Comment: 33 page
Validated prediction of weld residual stresses in austenitic steel pipe girth welds before and after thermal ageing, Part 2: modelling and validation
Three dimensional multi-pass repair weld simulations
Full 3-dimensional (3-D) simulation of multi-pass weld repairs is now feasible and practical given the development of improved analysis tools and significantly greater computer power. This paper presents residual stress results from 3-D finite element (FE) analyses simulating a long (arc length of 62°) and a short (arc length of 20°) repair to a girth weld in a 19.6 mm thick, 432 mm outer diameter cylindrical test component. Sensitivity studies are used to illustrate the importance of weld bead inter-pass temperature assumptions and to show where model symmetry can be used to reduce the analysis size.
The predicted residual stress results are compared with measured axial, hoop and radial through-wall profiles in the heat affected zone of the test component repairs. A good overall agreement is achieved between neutron diffraction and deep hole drilling measurements and the prediction at the mid-length position of the short repair. These results demonstrate that a coarse 3-D FE model, using a ‘block-dumped’ weld bead deposition approach (rather than progressively depositing weld metal), can accurately capture the important components of a short repair weld residual stress field. However, comparisons of measured with predicted residual stress at mid-length and stop-end positions in the long repair are less satisfactory implying some shortcomings in the FE modelling approach that warrant further investigation
Exact solution of Schrodinger equation for Pseudoharmonic potential
Exact solution of Schrodinger equation for the pseudoharmonic potential is
obtained for an arbitrary angular momentum. The energy eigenvalues and
corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated by Nikiforov-Uvarov method.
Wavefunctions are expressed in terms of Jacobi polynomials. The energy
eigenvalues are calculated numerically for some values of l and n with n<5 for
some diatomic molecules.Comment: 10 page
Dynamic Ordering and Transverse Depinning of a Driven Elastic String in a Disordered Media
We examine the dynamics of an elastic string interacting with quenched
disorder driven perpendicular and parallel to the string. We show that the
string is the most disordered at the depinning transition but with increasing
drive partial ordering is regained. For low drives the noise power is high and
we observe a 1/f^2 noise signature crossing over to a white noise character
with low power at higher drives. For the parallel driven moving string there is
a finite transverse critical depinning force with the depinning transition
occuring by the formation of running kinks.Comment: 4 pages, 4 postscript figure
The 3-3-1 model with S_4 flavor symmetry
We construct a 3-3-1 model based on family symmetry S_4 responsible for the
neutrino and quark masses. The tribimaximal neutrino mixing and the diagonal
quark mixing have been obtained. The new lepton charge \mathcal{L} related to
the ordinary lepton charge L and a SU(3) charge by L=2/\sqrt{3} T_8+\mathcal{L}
and the lepton parity P_l=(-)^L known as a residual symmetry of L have been
introduced which provide insights in this kind of model. The expected vacuum
alignments resulting in potential minimization can origin from appropriate
violation terms of S_4 and \mathcal{L}. The smallness of seesaw contributions
can be explained from the existence of such terms too. If P_l is not broken by
the vacuum values of the scalar fields, there is no mixing between the exotic
and the ordinary quarks at the tree level.Comment: 20 pages, revised versio

Responses of hadrons to chemical potential at finite temperature
We present a framework to compute the responses of hadron masses to the
chemical potential in lattice QCD simulations. As a first trial, the screening
mass of the pseudoscalar meson and its first and second responses are
evaluated. We present results on a lattice with two
flavors of staggered quarks below and above . The responses to both the
isoscalar and isovector chemical potentials are obtained. They show different
behavior in the low and the high temperature phases, which may be explained as
a consequence of chiral symmetry breaking and restoration, respectively.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure
Extrapolating SMBH correlations down the mass scale: the case for IMBHs in globular clusters
Empirical evidence for both stellar mass black holes M_bh<10^2 M_sun) and
supermassive black holes (SMBHs, M_bh>10^5 M_sun) is well established.
Moreover, every galaxy with a bulge appears to host a SMBH, whose mass is
correlated with the bulge mass, and even more strongly with the central stellar
velocity dispersion sigma_c, the `M-sigma' relation. On the other hand,
evidence for "intermediate-mass" black holes (IMBHs, with masses in the range
1^2 - 10^5 M_sun) is relatively sparse, with only a few mass measurements
reported in globular clusters (GCs), dwarf galaxies and low-mass AGNs. We
explore the question of whether globular clusters extend the M-sigma
relationship for galaxies to lower black hole masses and find that available
data for globular clusters are consistent with the extrapolation of this
relationship. We use this extrapolated M-sigma relationship to predict the
putative black hole masses of those globular clusters where existence of
central IMBH was proposed. We discuss how globular clusters can be used as a
constraint on theories making specific predictions for the low-mass end of the
M-sigma relation.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Astrophysics and

Frictional drag between non-equilibrium charged gases
The frictional drag force between separated but coupled two-dimensional
electron gases of different temperatures is studied using the non-equilibrium
Green function method based on the separation of center-of-mass and relative
dynamics of electrons. As the mechanisms of producing the frictional force we
include the direct Coulomb interaction, the interaction mediated via virtual
and real TA and LA phonons, optic phonons, plasmons, and TA and LA
phonon-electron collective modes. We found that, when the distance between the
two electron gases is large, and at intermediate temperature where plasmons and
collective modes play the most important role in the frictional drag, the
possibility of having a temperature difference between two subsystems modifies
greatly the transresistivity.Comment: 8figure
