Measurement of and charged current inclusive cross sections and their ratio with the T2K off-axis near detector
We report a measurement of cross section and the first measurements of the cross section
and their ratio
at (anti-)neutrino energies below 1.5
GeV. We determine the single momentum bin cross section measurements, averaged
over the T2K -flux, for the detector target material (mainly
Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen and Copper) with phase space restricted laboratory
frame kinematics of 500 MeV/c. The

Precision Measurement of the Longitudinal Double-spin Asymmetry for Inclusive Jet Production in Polarized Proton Collisions at GeV
We report a new high-precision measurement of the mid-rapidity inclusive jet
longitudinal double-spin asymmetry, , in polarized collisions at
center-of-mass energy GeV. The STAR data place stringent
constraints on polarized parton distribution functions extracted at
next-to-leading order from global analyses of inclusive deep inelastic
scattering (DIS), semi-inclusive DIS, and RHIC data. The measured
asymmetries provide evidence for positive gluon polarization in the Bjorken-

Comparisons and challenges of modern neutrino scattering experiments (TENSIONS2016 report)
Over the last decade, there has been enormous effort to measure neutrino interaction cross sections important to oscillation experiments. However, a number of results from modern experiments appear to be in tension with each other, despite purporting to measure the same processes. The TENSIONS2016 workshop was held at University of Pittsburgh July 24–31, 2016 and was sponsored by the Pittsburgh Particle Physics, Astronomy, and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC). The focus was on bringing experts from three experimental collaborations together to compare results in detail and try to find the source of tension by clarifying and comparing signal definitions and the analysis strategies used for each measurement. A set of comparisons between the measurements using a consistent set of models was also made. This paper summarizes the main conclusions of that work
Nucleofection induces non-specific changes in the metabolic activity of transfected cells
Transfection has become an everyday technique widely used for functional studies in living cells. The choice of the particular transfection method is usually determined by its efficiency and toxicity, and possible functional consequences specific to the method used are normally overlooked. We describe here that nucleofection, a method increasingly used because of its convenience and high efficiency, increases the metabolic rate of some cancer cells, which can be misleading when used as a measure of proliferation. Moreover, nucleofection can alter the subcellular expression pattern of the transfected protein. These undesired effects are independent of the transfected nucleic acid, but depend on the particular cell line used. Therefore, the interpretation of functional data using this technology requires further controls and caution
Measurement of ¯νμ and νμ charged current inclusive cross sections and their ratio with the T2K off-axis near detector
We report a measurement of cross section σ(νμ+nucleus→μ−+X) and the first measurements of the cross section σ(¯νμ+nucleus→μ++X) and their ratio R(σ(¯ν)σ(ν)) at (anti) neutrino energies below 1.5 GeV. We determine the single momentum bin cross section measurements, averaged over the T2K ¯ν/ν-flux, for the detector target material (mainly carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and copper) with phase space restricted laboratory frame kinematics of θμ500 MeV/c. The results are σ(¯ν)=(0.900±0.029(stat)±0.088(syst))×10−39 and σ(ν)=(2.41±0.022(stat)±0.231(syst))×10−39 in units of cm2/nucleon and R(σ(¯ν)σ(ν))=0.373±0.012(stat)±0.015(syst)
Updated T2K measurements of muon neutrino and antineutrino disappearance using 1.5 x 10(21) protons on target
We report measurements by the T2K experiment of the parameters
and governing the disappearance of muon neutrinos and
antineutrinos in the three flavor neutrino oscillation model. Utilizing the
ability of the experiment to run with either a mainly neutrino or a mainly
antineutrino beam, the parameters are measured separately for neutrinos and
antineutrinos. Using POT in neutrino running mode and
POT in antineutrino mode, T2K obtained,
and eV/c for neutrinos, and
and
eV/c for antineutrinos (assuming normal mass ordering). No
significant differences between the values of the parameters describing the
disappearance of muon neutrinos and antineutrinos were observed.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure
First measurement of the νμ charged-current cross section on a water target without pions in the final state
This paper reports the first differential measurement of the charged-current interaction cross section of νμ on water with no pions in the final state. This flux-averaged measurement has been made using the T2K experiment’s off-axis near detector, and is reported in doubly differential bins of muon momentum and angle. The flux-averaged total cross section in a restricted region of phase space was found to be σ=(0.95±0.08(stat)±0.06(det syst)±0.04(model syst)±0.08(flux))×10−38 cm2/n
Measurement of neutrino and antineutrino neutral-current quasielasticlike interactions on oxygen by detecting nuclear deexcitation γ rays
Neutrino- and antineutrino-oxygen neutral-current quasielastic-like
interactions are measured at Super-Kamiokande using nuclear de-excitation
-rays to identify signal-like interactions in data from a $14.94 \
(16.35)\times 10^{20}\langle \sigma_{\nu {\rm -NCQE}} \rangle = 1.70 \pm 0.17 ({\rm stat.}) ^{+
{\rm 0.51}}_{- {\rm 0.38}} ({\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-38} \ {\rm cm^2/oxygen}\langle \sigma_{\bar{\nu} {\rm
-NCQE}} \rangle = 0.98 \pm 0.16 ({\rm stat.}) ^{+ {\rm 0.26}}_{- {\rm 0.19}}
({\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-38} \ {\rm cm^2/oxygen}$ with a flux-averaged energy
of 0.68 GeV, for neutrinos and antineutrinos, respectively. These results are
the most precise to date, and the antineutrino result is the first cross
section measurement of this channel. They are compared with various theoretical
predictions. The impact on evaluation of backgrounds to searches for supernova
relic neutrinos at present and future water Cherenkov detectors is also
discussed
Search for Lorentz and CPT violation using sidereal time dependence of neutrino flavor transitions over a short baseline
A class of extensions of the Standard Model allows Lorentz and CPT violations, which can be identified
by the observation of sidereal modulations in the neutrino interaction rate. A search for such modulations
was performed using the T2K on-axis near detector. Two complementary methods were used in this study,
both of which resulted in no evidence of a signal. Limits on associated Lorentz and CPT-violating terms
from the Standard Model extension have been derived by taking into account their correlations in this
model for the first time. These results imply such symmetry violations are suppressed by a factor of more
than 10 20 at the GeV scale
