A combination of microchannel plate optics and a 32x32 pixel microcalorimeter would allow the successor to the Rossi XTE to explore new domains of spectroscopic timing in a MIDEX class mission. With ~10 times the area and ~100 times the spectral resolution of the PCA (and 10 times that of silicon detectors) such a mission would be able to explore redshifts and plasma conditions in weak line features over a wide range of celestial sources. Evoluçao linear de dano em materiais elásticos e frágiles: modelagem e simulaçao numérica

Nós últimos anos, foram propostas várias teorias de dano contínuo para descrever o comportamento de materiais elásticos. Entre essas teorias algunas introduzem gradientes da variável associa ao dano, de modo a evitar problemas de perda de unicidade após o início do amolecimento. Embora estas teorias permitam uma modelagem matemáticamente correcta do fenómeno de localizaçao, do ponto de vista numérico elas sao generalment consideradas muito complexas. O trábalo aquí apresentado trata da implementaçao numérica de uma teoria dependente do gradiente para o esetudo do dano em materiais elásticos. É utilizada para aproximaçao da soluçao do problema matemáticonao-lineal resultante uma técnica numérica simples, baseada no método de elementos finitos. O acoplamento entre as variáveis dano e deformaçao nas equaçoes resultantes é contornado através da técnica de partiçao dos operadores, que permitem transformar o problema nao-linear acoplado em uma seqüenciase se problema slineares mais simple

English Teacher Education: Questions and Reflections on Methodological Aspects

CL 71.366 1-(3-dimetilaminopropil)-4-(p. metoxifenil) dihidrocloridrato de piperazina no tratamento da doença de Chagas

Os autores trataram 13 indivíduos com a doença de Chagas, 4 na fase aguda e 9 na fase crônica, forma indeterminada, com o CL 71.366 do Laboratório Lederle, usando diferentes esquemas terapêuticos nos dois grupos. Embora a droga fosse relativamente bem suportada pela maioria dos indivíduos, todos os chagásicos, após o tratamento, continuavam com parasitemia demonstrável pelos xenodiagnósticos, apesar do controle de cura não ter sido rigoroso. Concluem os autores pela ineficácia do medicamento no tratamento da doença de Chagas, nos esquemas utilizados.The authors treated 13 individuais with Chagas disease, 4 in the acute phase and 9 in the indeterminate form of the chronic phase with a compound CL 71.366 of Lederle Laboratory. Different dosage schemes for the two groups were used. While the drug was relatively well tolerated by the majority of individuais all the chagasic patients after treatment continued with parasitaemia demonstrable by xenodiagnosis, although the control of cure was not the best. It is concluded that this drug is ineffective in the treatment of Chagas disease in the dosages utilised

Persuasion and Recommendation System Applied to a Cognitive Assistant

In this paper, we present a persuasive recommendation module included in the iGenda framework. iGenda is a cognitive assistant that helps care-receivers and caregivers in the management of their activities of daily living, by resolving scheduling conflicts and promoting active aging activities. The proposed new module will allow the system to select and recommend to the users an event that potentially best suits to his/her interests (likes or medical condition). The multi-agent approach followed by the iGenda framework facilitates an easy integration of these new features. The social objective is to promote social activities and engaging the users in physical or psychological activities that improve their medical condition

TRAJETÓRIA ESPORTIVA E HABILIDADES PSICOLÓGICAS DE JOGADORES DE FUTEBOL DA SELEÇÃO BRASILEIRA

The objective of the study was to investigate the construction of the professional trajectory of professional soccer players of the Brazilian team. Six male soccer players were interviewed, who were part of the main team of clubs competing in the first division of the Brazilian Championship. Inclusion criteria: minimum of two years as a player in the professional category and at least one call by the Brazilian Football Team. The athletes were interviewed individually. From the analysis of the changes, it appears that football presents as a central theme in their lives and that a family has an important role in the context of sport. The importance of psychological skills is confirmed for those who reach the elite of professional football and the Brazilian team. Understanding the sporting trajectory of elite athletes is a topic of great quality for the advancement of sports science. El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar la construcción de la trayectoria profesional de futbolistas profesionales de la selección brasileña. Se entrevistó a seis futbolistas masculinos, quienes formaban parte del equipo principal de clubes que compiten en la primera división del Campeonato Brasileño. Criterios de inclusión: mínimo de dos años como jugador en la categoría profesional y al menos una convocatoria de la Selección Brasileña de Fútbol. Los atletas fueron entrevistados individualmente. A partir del análisis de las entrevistas, se constató que el fútbol es un tema central en sus vidas y que la familia juega un papel importante en el contexto del deporte. La importancia de las habilidades psicológicas se confirma para quienes alcanzaron la élite del fútbol profesional y la selección brasileña. Comprender la trayectoria deportiva de los deportistas de élite es un tema de gran relevancia para el avance de la ciencia del deporte.O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a construção da trajetória profissional de jogadores de futebol profissional da seleção brasileira. Foram entrevistados, seis jogadores de futebol, do gênero masculino, que faziam parte da equipe principal de clubes que disputam a primeira divisão do Campeonato Brasileiro. Critério de inclusão: mínimo de dois anos como jogador na categoria profissional e pelo menos uma convocação pela Seleção Brasileira de Futebol. Os atletas foram entrevistados individualmente. A partir da análise das entrevistas, constatou-se que o futebol se apresenta como tema central em suas vidas e que a família tem um papel importante no contexto do esporte. A importância das habilidades psicológicas é confirmada para aqueles que atingiram a elite do futebol profissional e a seleção brasileira. A compreensão da trajetória esportiva de atletas da elite constitui um tema de grande relevância para o avanço da ciência do esporte

Candida spp. occurrence in oral cavities of breastfeeding infants and in their mothers' mouths and breasts

O objetivo do estudo foi verificar a presença de leveduras do gênero Candida na cavidade bucal de lactentes em aleitamento materno predominante e nas bocas e mamas de suas mães, assim como na cavidade bucal de lactentes em aleitamento artificial e em mulheres na ausência de lactação. Participaram do estudo 169 mulheres e 85 lactentes divididos em quatro grupos: 1) crianças em aleitamento natural predominante (n = 55) e suas mães (n = 55); 2) crianças em aleitamento artificial (n = 30); 3) mulheres que não estavam amamentando, em que se realizaram coletas bucais (n = 80) e, 4) mulheres em ausência de lactação em que se realizaram coletas mamárias (n = 34). "Swabs" bucais e mamários, foram semeados em ágar Sabouraud dextrose com cloranfenicol, e as cepas de levedura isoladas foram identificadas utilizando-se provas morfológicas e bioquímicas. Espécies de Candida foram detectadas a partir de um número significativamente menor de crianças em aleitamento natural predominante que de crianças em aleitamento artificial. Também foi significativa a maior freqüência dessas espécies nas mamas de nutrizes em relação ao controle.This study aimed to determine the occurrence of Candida spp. in the oral cavity of predominantly breastfed infants and in their mothers' mouths and breasts, as well as in the oral cavity of bottlefed infants and in non-lactating women. One hundred and sixty nine women and eighty-five milk-fed infants took part in this study and were divided into four groups: 1) infants predominantly on breastfeeding (n = 55) and their mothers (n = 55); 2) infants on bottlefeeding (n = 30); 3) non-lactating women on whom oral collections were performed (n = 80) and, 4) non-lactating women on whom breast collections were performed (n = 34). Oral and mammary swabs were cultured on Sabouraud agar dextrose with chloramphenicol. The Candida yeast strains found were isolated and identified through morphological and biochemical tests. Candida species were much less frequent in infants who were predominantly breastfed than in those who were bottlefed. Yeasts were much more frequent on the breasts of lactating women, with statistical difference in relation to the control group

Blockchain technology in innovation ecosystems for sustainable purchases through the perception of public managers

The success of organizational processes is increasingly related to sustainable innovation. The concern with sustainable public purchases has been gaining strength over the years. However, several barriers are found to implementing this practice. At the same time, blockchain advances as technology part of the innovation of industry 4.0 and as a proposal to solve these difficulties. The study aimed to identify the perception of public procurement managers on the use of information systems with characteristic features of this technology, to reduce these barriers and elaborate a proposal for the use of blockchain in open innovation systems. The research developed is qualitative, quantitative and applied, being carried out through the application of a structured questionnaire to purchasing managers using the 92 prefectures of the State of Rio de Janeiro, located in Brazil, with subsequent analysis through descriptive statistics. The results of this work present relevant findings for public procurement through innovation and blockchain technology with the possibility of tracking the entire supply chain, allowing the verification of possible environmental and social damages such as the use of child or slave labor, the use of deforestation wood, counterfeit products, unethical agents, in addition to providing more transparency to the process of acquisition.publishe

The environmental and health impacts of tobacco agriculture, cigarette manufacture and consumption.

The health consequences of tobacco use are well known, but less recognized are the significant environmental impacts of tobacco production and use. The environmental impacts of tobacco include tobacco growing and curing; product manufacturing and distribution; product consumption; and post-consumption waste. The World Health Organization's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control addresses environmental concerns in Articles 17 and 18, which primarily apply to tobacco agriculture. Article 5.3 calls for protection from policy interference by the tobacco industry regarding the environmental harms of tobacco production and use. Argumentation Schemes for Events Suggestion in an e-Health Platform

In this work, we propose the introduction of persuasion techniques that guide the users into interacting with the Ambient Assisted Living framework iGenda. It is a cognitive assistant that manages active daily living activities, monitors user's health condition, and creates a social network between users via mobile devices. The objective is to be inserted in a healthcare environment and to provide features like adaptive interfaces, user profiling and machine learning processes that enhance the usage experience. The inclusion of a persuasive architecture (based on argumentation schemes) enables the system to provide recommendations to the users that fit their profile and interests, thus increases the chance of a positive interaction.A.
