Narcisse, Tirésias et Orphée. Un regard moralisé sur le corps chez Alexandre Neckam
Au chapitre De la voix de son encyclopédie De Naturis rerum (I, 20), A. Neckam (1157-1217) réunit trois figures mythiques présentant un rapport au corps. Narcisse est subjugué par sa beauté, Orphée se découvre pédéraste, Tirésias devient transsexuel. Ces trois exemples montrent le rôle original que l’auteur fait jouer à la mythographie dans une œuvre didactique, où sont introduits, puis remis à distance par la moralisation, des sujets tabous.In the chapter Of the voice of its encyclopaedia De Naturis rerum (I, 20), Alexander Neckam (1157-1217) joins together three mythical figures presenting varied relations with the body. These three examples show with wich originality this English author uses the mythography in a didactic work, where he introduces taboos topics, then tries to attenuate and rationalize them according to the moral standard

Very high resolution mapping of coral reef state using airborne bathymetric LiDAR surface-intensity and drone imagery
International audienceVery high resolution (VHR) airborne data enable detection and physical measurements of individual coral reef colonies. The bathymetric LiDAR system, as an active remote sensing technique, accurately computes the coral reef ecosystem’s surface and reflectance using a single green wavelength at the decimetre scale over 1-to-100 km2 areas. A passive multispectral camera mounted on an airborne drone can build a blue-green-red (BGR) orthorectified mosaic at the centimetre scale over 0.01-to-0.1 km2 areas. A combination of these technologies is used for the first time here to map coral reef ecological state at the submeter scale. Airborne drone BGR values (0.03 m pixel size) serve to calibrate airborne bathymetric LiDAR surface and intensity data (0.5 m pixel size). A classification of five ecological states is then mapped through an artificial neural network (ANN). The classification was developed over a small area (0.01 km2) in the lagoon of Moorea Island (French Polynesia) at VHR (0.5 m pixel size) and then extended to the whole lagoon (46.83 km2). The ANN was first calibrated with 275 samples to determine the class of coral state through LiDAR-based predictors; then, the classification was validated through 135 samples, reaching a satisfactory performance (overall accuracy = 0.75)
Multi-modal image fusion for small animal studies in in-line PET /3T MRI

Les élèves conservatrices et conservateurs promus DCB30 proposent un retour sur la journée d’étude consacrée à la qualité de vie et cohésion au travail qu’ils ont organisée le 21 mai 2021.
Cette journée s’est déclinée autour de deux conférences introductives sur le thème de la qualité de vie au travail, des ateliers pour permettre à de futurs cadres de réfléchir et de mettre en place des actions relatives à ces thèmes et enfin des retours d’expériences
International trade law, plain packaging and tobacco industry political activity:the Trans-Pacific Partnership
Tobacco companies are increasingly turning to trade and investment agreements to challenge measures aimed at reducing tobacco use. This study examines their efforts to influence the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a major trade and investment agreement which may eventually cover 40% of the world's population; focusing on how these efforts might enhance the industry's power to challenge the introduction of plain packaging. Specifically, the paper discusses the implications for public health regulation of Philip Morris International's interest in using the TPP to: shape the bureaucratic structures and decision-making processes of business regulation at the national level; introduce a higher standard of protection for trademarks than is currently provided under the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights; and expand the coverage of Investor-State Dispute Settlement which empowers corporations to litigate directly against governments where they are deemed to be in breach of investment agreements. The large number of countries involved in the TPP underlines its risk to the development of tobacco regulation globally
OVX033, a nucleocapsid-based vaccine candidate, provides broad-spectrum protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants in a hamster challenge model
Spike-based COVID-19 vaccines induce potent neutralizing antibodies but their efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 variants decreases. OVX033 is a recombinant protein composed of the full-length nucleocapsid (N) protein of SARS-CoV-2 genetically fused to oligoDOM®, a self-assembling domain which improves antigen immunogenicity. OVX033 including N as an antigenic target is proposed as new vaccine candidate providing broad-spectrum protection against sarbecoviruses. OVX033 demonstrated its ability to trigger cross-reactive T cell responses and cross-protection against three variants of SARS-CoV-2 (B.1 Europe, Delta B.1.617.2, and Omicron B.1.1.529) in a hamster challenge model, as evidenced by lower weight loss, lower lung viral loads, and reduced lung histopathological lesions
A far-ultraviolet-driven photoevaporation flow observed in a protoplanetary disk
Most low-mass stars form in stellar clusters that also contain massive stars,
which are sources of far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation. Theoretical models
predict that this FUV radiation produces photo-dissociation regions (PDRs) on
the surfaces of protoplanetary disks around low-mass stars, impacting planet
formation within the disks. We report JWST and Atacama Large Millimetere Array
observations of a FUV-irradiated protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula.
Emission lines are detected from the PDR; modelling their kinematics and
excitation allows us to constrain the physical conditions within the gas. We
quantify the mass-loss rate induced by the FUV irradiation, finding it is
sufficient to remove gas from the disk in less than a million years. This is
rapid enough to affect giant planet formation in the disk
