An Investigation upon DNA Interaction of 2 3 , 9 10 , 16 17 , 23 24 –Tetrakis 4- 4- 2-phenylprop-2-yl phenoxy Phthalocyanine Compound
The DNA binding activity of previously synthesized and characterized 2 3 , 9 10 , 16 17 , 23 24 –Tetrakis 4- 4- 2-phenylprop-2-yl phenoxy phthalocyanine compound PcF with CT-DNA was studied using UV/Vis, emission spectroscopic titrations, the melting temperature, viscosity measurement, and agarose gel electrophoresis methods in a Tris-HCl buffer solution at a pH of 7.1 at room temperature. The absorption titration spectra studies of PcF showed that absorbance intensities were decreased with increasing of concentrations of CT-DNA and the finding proved that the compound interacts with the DNA. Addition to absorption titration study, emission spectroscopic titration, the melting temperature, viscosity measurement, and agarose gel electrophoresis methods were also performed to investigate the binding activities of PcF with the DNA. The results of these methods confirmed the findings of absorption spectra study that the compound interacts with the DNA

Objective: Turner syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal disorder caused by complete or partial X chromosome monosomy that manifests various clinical features depending on the karyotype and on the genetic background of affected girls. This study aimed to systematically investigate the key clinical features of TS in relationship to karyotype in a large pediatric Turkish patient population. Methods: Our retrospective study included 842 karyotype-proven TS patients aged 0-18 years who were evaluated in 35 different centers in Turkey in the years 2013-2014.Results: The most common karyotype was 45,X (50.7%), followed by 45,X/46,XX (10.8%), 46,X,i(Xq) (10.1%) and 45,X/46,X,i(Xq) (9.5%). Mean age at diagnosis was 10.2±4.4 years. The most common presenting complaints were short stature and delayed puberty. Among patients diagnosed before age one year, the ratio of karyotype 45,X was significantly higher than that of other karyotype groups. Cardiac defects (bicuspid aortic valve, coarctation of the aorta and aortic stenosis) were the most common congenital anomalies, occurring in 25% of the TS cases. This was followed by urinary system anomalies (horseshoe kidney, double collector duct system and renal rotation) detected in 16.3%. Hashimoto's thyroiditis was found in 11.1% of patients, gastrointestinal abnormalities in 8.9%, ear nose and throat problems in 22.6%, dermatologic problems in 21.8% and osteoporosis in 15.3%. Learning difficulties and/or psychosocial problems were encountered in 39.1%. Insulin resistance and impaired fasting glucose were detected in 3.4% and 2.2%, respectively. Dyslipidemia prevalence was 11.4%.Conclusion: This comprehensive study systematically evaluated the largest group of karyotype-proven TS girls to date. The karyotype distribution, congenital anomaly and comorbidity profile closely parallel that from other countries and support the need for close medical surveillance of these complex patients throughout their lifespa

Training programs which recite the students to think actively to discover , rather
than memorize and take students to center of training programsa are organized in 9-year
period when. The Board decisions are examined it seems that same decisions are taken
related to transition to secondary school exam system to be more comprehensive and to
appeal to student
Herpetofauna of the vicinity of Aksehir and Eber (Konya, Afyon), Turkey
WOS: 000329919500014In this research, 29 species of 11 amphibian and reptile families were detected in the endorheic basin of Aksehir and Eber. Of these species, 5 are anurans, 1 is a tortoise, 1 is a turtle, 9 are lizards, and 13 are snakes. In addition, the chorotype classification of the species recorded in the study area and their distributions depending on plants are also provided. It was established that specimens of subspecies Ophisops elegans macrodactylus and O.e. centralanatolia were sympatrically found in the vicinity of Ortakoy and Tuzlukcu. Moreover, in addition to the species determined in previous studies, Platyceps najadum and Hemorrhois nummifer were first detected in this region
Transitional dynamics in thermal convection between rigid plates
The Rayleigh-Benard thermal convection problem is an instability of a Boussinesq fluid layer on an infinite horizontal plane heated from below and cooled from above in the presence of gravity in the vertical, pointing downward. The dynamics of this phenomena is governed by Boussinesq equations. In this work, Boussinesq equations are integrated numerically using a spectral element technique. The resulting numerical database is then used to generate the Karhunen-Loeve (K-L) basis. The K-L basis is an empirical basis in nature that can be computed from an experimentally or numerically generated database representative of the underlying physical phenomena. The K-L basis is, in turn, used to study the dynamics in the transitional regimes of thermal convection as a preliminary effort prior to extracting a low-dimensional description of the phenomena

Correction of right to left shunt by transcatheter treatment of pulmonary stenosis and atrial septal defect: a case report
Co-occurrence of atrial septal defect and pulmonary valve stenosis is a rare entity for adult population. It is possible to correct both the pulmonary stenosis and the defect in the atrial septum by transcatheter methods. We present a case of right to left shant due to severe pulmonary stenosis and atrial defect which was successfully corrected by transcatheter pulmonary valvuloplasty and closure of the atrial septal defect

WOS: 000237796000003Two Turkish populations of Mauremys caspica and Mauremys rivulata were compared morphologically, serologically, and ecologically. Morphometric differences were noted among sexes and populations. Electrophoretic patterns demonstrated significant differences between the taxa and supported their status as distinct species
A different perspective into clinical symptoms in CPT I deficiency
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT I) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder causing long-chain fatty acid oxidation defect, characterized by metabolic decompensation episodes accompanied by hypoketotic hypoglycemia, hepatomegaly, seizures, renal tubular acidosis, and hyperammonemia. The aim of this study was to investigate the neurological symptoms in CPT I deficiency and different outcomes with respect to predisposing factors for sequela and to draw attention to the neurological impairment that may develop during the course of the disease. The retrospective study reviewed clinical characteristics of 14 patients. Mean follow-up period was 10.3 ± 4.7 (range: 8 months-18.6 years; median: 10 years) years. Three patients were diagnosed with newborn screening. In the symptomatic group (n = 12) most common presenting symptoms were psychomotor retardation (n = 6), seizures (n = 5), encephalopathy (n = 5), dystonia (n = 1), Reye-like syndrome (n = 5), muscle weakness (n = 3), and autism (n = 1). Neurologic findings detected in the follow-up period included speech disorder (n = 9), abnormal cranial MRI findings (n = 5), neuropathy (n = 1), and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (n = 1). Speech disorders collectively included delayed expressive language development, speech articulation disorder, speech delay, stuttering, and specific speech difficulties. After starting treatment for CPT I deficiency, speech disorders improved in 3 patients. Our findings confirmed that the clinical manifestations of CPT I deficiency is wider than previously thought, causing specific neurologic dysfunction, mainly speech disorders at a large scale, that were unexpected in a fatty acid oxidation disorder. We suggest that early diagnosis and treatment is the key factor to prevent neurologic sequelae while an extensive neurological evaluation is essential in patients with CPT I deficiency both at the time of diagnosis and during the follow-up period
