Gravitational quasinormal modes of AdS black branes in d spacetime dimensions
The AdS/CFT duality has established a mapping between quantities in the bulk
AdS black-hole physics and observables in a boundary finite-temperature field
theory. Such a relationship appears to be valid for an arbitrary number of
spacetime dimensions, extrapolating the original formulations of Maldacena's
correspondence. In the same sense properties like the hydrodynamic behavior of
AdS black-hole fluctuations have been proved to be universal. We investigate in
this work the complete quasinormal spectra of gravitational perturbations of
-dimensional plane-symmetric AdS black holes (black branes). Holographically
the frequencies of the quasinormal modes correspond to the poles of two-point
correlation functions of the field-theory stress-energy tensor. The important
issue of the correct boundary condition to be imposed on the gauge-invariant
perturbation fields at the AdS boundary is studied and elucidated in a fully
-dimensional context. We obtain the dispersion relations of the first few
modes in the low-, intermediate- and high-wavenumber regimes. The sound-wave
(shear-mode) behavior of scalar (vector)-type low-frequency quasinormal mode is
analytically and numerically confirmed. These results are found employing both

Quantum Radiation from a 5-Dimensional Rotating Black Hole
We study a massless scalar field propagating in the background of a
five-dimensional rotating black hole. We showed that in the Myers-Perry metric
describing such a black hole the massless field equation allows the separation
of variables. The obtained angular equation is a generalization of the equation
for spheroidal functions. The radial equation is similar to the radial
Teukolsky equation for the 4-dimensional Kerr metric. We use these results to
quantize the massless scalar field in the space-time of the 5-dimensional
rotating black hole and to derive expressions for energy and angular momentum

Oncoplastic Breast Consortium consensus conference on nipple-sparing mastectomy
Purpose Indications for nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) have broadened to include the risk reducing setting and locally
advanced tumors, which resulted in a dramatic increase in the use of NSM. The Oncoplastic Breast Consortium consensus
conference on NSM and immediate reconstruction was held to address a variety of questions in clinical practice and research
based on published evidence and expert panel opinion.
Methods The panel consisted of 44 breast surgeons from 14 countries across four continents with a background in gynecology, general or reconstructive surgery and a practice dedicated to breast cancer, as well as a patient advocate. Panelists
presented evidence summaries relating to each topic for debate during the in-person consensus conference. The iterative
process in question development, voting, and wording of the recommendations followed the modified Delphi methodology.
Results Consensus recommendations were reached in 35, majority recommendations in 24, and no recommendations in the
remaining 12 questions. The panel acknowledged the need for standardization of various aspects of NSM and immediate
reconstruction. It endorsed several oncological contraindications to the preservation of the skin and nipple. Furthermore, it
recommended inclusion of patients in prospective registries and routine assessment of patient-reported outcomes. Considerable heterogeneity in breast reconstruction practice became obvious during the conference.
Conclusions In case of conflicting or missing evidence to guide treatment, the consensus conference revealed substantial
disagreement in expert panel opinion, which, among others, supports the need for a randomized trial to evaluate the safest
and most efficacious reconstruction techniques
Enriching nutritive value of cassava root by yeast fermentation
Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is extensively cultivated throughout the tropics and subtropics regions due to its ability to grow in diverse soil conditions and minimal management. Experiments were made to study the cassava root fermentation by yeasts in order to enhance the nutritive value of their products (fresh pulp and chips). Both cassava chip (CC) and fresh cassava root pulp (FCR) samples were fermented by Saccharomyces cerevisiae in solid-liquid media fermentation conditions during 132 hours and dried at 30ÂșC. Products were analyzed for proximate composition, mineral composition, essential aminoacids and antinutrient content. Foram avaliados a composição aproximada, composição mineral, aminoĂĄcidos essenciais e conteĂșdo de antinutrientes dos produtos obtidos. Houve aumentos (p < 0.01) em proteĂnas (30,4% em RM e 13,5% in PF) e conteĂșdo de gorduras (5,8% em RM e 3,0% in PF). Os subprodutos de mandioca fermentados por S. cerevisiae apresentaram baixos conteĂșdos de ĂĄcido hidrocianĂdrico (RM, 0,5 mg kg-1 e PF 47,3 mg kg-1). Factors influencing terrestriality in primates of the Americas and Madagascar
Among mammals, the order Primates is exceptional in having a high taxonomic richness in which the taxa are arboreal, semiterrestrial, or terrestrial. Although habitual terrestriality is pervasive among the apes and African and Asian monkeys (catarrhines), it is largely absent among monkeys of the Americas (platyrrhines), as well as galagos, lemurs, and lorises (strepsirrhines), which are mostly arboreal. Numerous ecological drivers and species-specific factors are suggested to set the conditions for an evolutionary shift from arboreality to terrestriality, and current environmental conditions may provide analogous scenarios to those transitional periods. Therefore, we investigated predominantly arboreal, diurnal primate genera from the Americas and Madagascar that lack fully terrestrial taxa, to determine whether ecological drivers (habitat canopy cover, predation risk, maximum temperature, precipitation, primate species richness, human population density, and distance to roads) or species-specific traits (body mass, group size, and degree of frugivory) associate with increased terrestriality. We collated 150,961 observation hours across 2,227 months from 47 species at 20 sites in Madagascar and 48 sites in the Americas. Multiple factors were associated with ground use in these otherwise arboreal species, including increased temperature, a decrease in canopy cover, a dietary shift away from frugivory, and larger group size. These factors mostly explain intraspecific differences in terrestriality. As humanity modifies habitats and causes climate change, our results suggest that species already inhabiting hot, sparsely canopied sites, and exhibiting more generalized diets, are more likely to shift toward greater ground use
Risk profiles and one-year outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation in India: Insights from the GARFIELD-AF Registry.
BACKGROUND: The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF) is an ongoing prospective noninterventional registry, which is providing important information on the baseline characteristics, treatment patterns, and 1-year outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). This report describes data from Indian patients recruited in this registry. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 52,014 patients with newly diagnosed AF were enrolled globally; of these, 1388 patients were recruited from 26 sites within India (2012-2016). In India, the mean age was 65.8 years at diagnosis of NVAF. Hypertension was the most prevalent risk factor for AF, present in 68.5% of patients from India and in 76.3% of patients globally (P < 0.001). Diabetes and coronary artery disease (CAD) were prevalent in 36.2% and 28.1% of patients as compared with global prevalence of 22.2% and 21.6%, respectively (P < 0.001 for both). Antiplatelet therapy was the most common antithrombotic treatment in India. With increasing stroke risk, however, patients were more likely to receive oral anticoagulant therapy [mainly vitamin K antagonist (VKA)], but average international normalized ratio (INR) was lower among Indian patients [median INR value 1.6 (interquartile range {IQR}: 1.3-2.3) versus 2.3 (IQR 1.8-2.8) (P < 0.001)]. Compared with other countries, patients from India had markedly higher rates of all-cause mortality [7.68 per 100 person-years (95% confidence interval 6.32-9.35) vs 4.34 (4.16-4.53), P < 0.0001], while rates of stroke/systemic embolism and major bleeding were lower after 1 year of follow-up. CONCLUSION: Compared to previously published registries from India, the GARFIELD-AF registry describes clinical profiles and outcomes in Indian patients with AF of a different etiology. The registry data show that compared to the rest of the world, Indian AF patients are younger in age and have more diabetes and CAD. Patients with a higher stroke risk are more likely to receive anticoagulation therapy with VKA but are underdosed compared with the global average in the GARFIELD-AF. NEOTROPICAL XENARTHRANS: a data set of occurrence of xenarthran species in the Neotropics
Xenarthrans â anteaters, sloths, and armadillos â have essential functions for ecosystem maintenance, such as insect control and nutrient cycling, playing key roles as ecosystem engineers. Because of habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting pressure, and conflicts with 24 domestic dogs, these species have been threatened locally, regionally, or even across their full distribution ranges. The Neotropics harbor 21 species of armadillos, ten anteaters, and six sloths. Our dataset includes the families Chlamyphoridae (13), Dasypodidae (7), Myrmecophagidae (3), Bradypodidae (4), and Megalonychidae (2). We have no occurrence data on Dasypus pilosus (Dasypodidae). Regarding Cyclopedidae, until recently, only one species was recognized, but new genetic studies have revealed that the group is represented by seven species. In this data-paper, we compiled a total of 42,528 records of 31 species, represented by occurrence and quantitative data, totaling 24,847 unique georeferenced records. The geographic range is from the south of the USA, Mexico, and Caribbean countries at the northern portion of the Neotropics, to its austral distribution in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Uruguay. Regarding anteaters, Myrmecophaga tridactyla has the most records (n=5,941), and Cyclopes sp. has the fewest (n=240). The armadillo species with the most data is Dasypus novemcinctus (n=11,588), and the least recorded for Calyptophractus retusus (n=33). With regards to sloth species, Bradypus variegatus has the most records (n=962), and Bradypus pygmaeus has the fewest (n=12). Our main objective with Neotropical Xenarthrans is to make occurrence and quantitative data available to facilitate more ecological research, particularly if we integrate the xenarthran data with other datasets of Neotropical Series which will become available very soon (i.e. Neotropical Carnivores, Neotropical Invasive Mammals, and Neotropical Hunters and Dogs). Therefore, studies on trophic cascades, hunting pressure, habitat loss, fragmentation effects, species invasion, and climate change effects will be possible with the Neotropical Xenarthrans dataset
