The alternative of EXERGAMEs in improving the quality of life of the elderly

Actualmente vivimos en una sociedad claramente condicionada por el alcance de las nuevas tecnologías. Asimismo, el significativo aumento del número de nuestros mayores constituye otra característica que la determina. Esta situación plantea la necesidad de propuestas que promuevan la calidad de vida y bienestar en la tercera edad. Para ello, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica considerando el ámbito de la actividad física, el cual se concretada como una de las bazas más importantes a tratar para lograr ese objetivo; y el papel que pueden jugar las nuevas tecnologías en él, concretamente los «Exergames». Por ello, y con el fin de buscar alternativas para la mejora de la salud en la tercera edad, este estudio pretende poner en relieve la utilización de las nuevas tecnologías con dicha meta. Datasets for transcriptomics, q-proteomics and phenotype microarrays of polyphosphate metabolism mutants from Escherichia coli

By integrating different omics levels (transcriptome, proteome and phenome), we were able to study Escherichia coli polyphosphate mutant strains (Δppk1, Δppx, and Δppk1-ppx). Nodal liquid and s-wave superconductivity in transition metal dichalcogenides

We explore the physical properties of a unified microscopic theory for the coexistence of superconductivity and charge density waves in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides. In the case of particle-hole symmetry the elementary particles are Dirac fermions at the nodes of the charge density wave gap. When particle-hole symmetry is broken electron (hole) pockets are formed around the Fermi surface. The superconducting ground state emerges from the pairing of nodal quasi-particles mediated by acoustic phonons via a piezoelectric coupling. We calculate several properties in the s-wave superconducting phase, including specific heat, ultra-sound absorption, nuclear magnetic relaxation, thermal, and optical conductivities. In the case with particle-hole symmetry, the specific heat jump at the transition deviates strongly from ordinary superconductors. The nuclear magnetic response shows an anomalous anisotropy due to the broken time-reversal symmetry of the superconducting gap, induced by the triple charge density wave state. The loss of lattice inversion symmetry in the charge density wave phase leads to anomalous coherence factors in the optical conductivity and to the appearance of an absorption edge at the optical gap energy. Furthermore, optical and thermal conductivities display anomalous peaks in the infrared when particle-hole symmetry is broken.Comment: 23 pages, 16 figures. Published versio

We now live in a society that is clearly conditioned by the development of new technologies. Although, we must also point out another feature of our society: the increasing number of our elders, due to numerous factors. What comes to claim a proposals that promotes a good quality of life for seniors. To do this, it has become a literature review, reviewing in one hand physical activity, considered one of the most important assets to try to achieve that end; and secondly, the potential role of new technologies, specifically the "exergames". On the occasion of proposing it as an alternative to improve the quality of life of our seniors, this research aims to raise awareness on how to use new technologies. Design, Synthesis, Characterization, and Evaluation of the Anti-HT-29 Colorectal Cell Line Activity of Novel 8-Oxyquinolinate-Platinum(II)-Loaded Nanostructured Lipid Carriers Targeted with Riboflavin

Colorectal cancer is occasionally called colon or rectal cancer, depending on where cancer begins to form, and is the second leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. The platinum-based [PtCl(8-O-quinolinate)(dmso)] (8-QO-Pt) compound has demonstrated encouraging anticancer activity. Three different systems of 8-QO-Pt-encapsulated nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) with riboflavin (RFV) were investigated. NLCs of myristyl myristate were synthesized by ultrasonication in the presence of RFV. RFV-decorated nanoparticles displayed a spherical shape and a narrow size dispersion in the range of 144–175 nm mean particle diameter. The 8-QO-Pt-loaded formulations of NLC/RFV with more than 70% encapsulation efficiency showed sustained in vitro release for 24 h. Cytotoxicity, cell uptake, and apoptosis were evaluated in the HT-29 human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line. The results revealed that 8-QO-Pt-loaded formulations of NLC/RFV showed higher cytotoxicity than the free 8-QO-Pt compound at 5.0 µM. All three systems exhibited different levels of cellular internalization. Moreover, the hemotoxicity assay showed the safety profile of the formulations (less than 3.7%). Taken together, RFV-targeted NLC systems for drug delivery have been investigated for the first time in our study and the results are promising for the future of chemotherapy in colon cancer treatmen

Surface Analysis of 4-Aminothiophenol Adsorption at Polycrystalline Platinum Electrodes

Formation of self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) on polycrystalline platinum electrodes has been studied by surface analysis and electrochemistry techniques. The 4-ATP monolayer was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), Raman spectroscopy, reflection absorption infrared (RAIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments give an idea about the packing quality of the monolayer. RAIR and Raman spectra for 4-ATP modified platinum electrodes showed the characteristic adsorption bands for neat 4-ATP indicating the adsorption of 4-ATP molecules on platinum surface. The adsorption on platinum was also evidenced by the presence of sulfur and nitrogen peaks by XPS survey spectra of the modified platinum electrodes. High resolution XPS studies and RAIR spectrum for platinum electrodes modified with 4-ATP indicate that molecules are sulfur-bonded to the platinum surface. The formation of S-Pt bond suggests that ATP adsorption gives up an amino terminated SAM. Thickness of the monolayer was evaluated via angle-resolved XPS (AR-XPS) analyses. Social network analysis as a tool to inform sustainable multi-sectoral management in complex marine socioecosystems

In complex marine socioecosystems, where multiple sectoral activities coexist, management can be especially complicated. This is the case of the coupled Guadalquivir estuary - Gulf of Cadiz (Ge-GoC) system. The Guadalquivir estuary (SW Spain) plays a central role in the whole Gulf of Cadiz since many fish species use these waters as a nursery area. Therefore, not only fisheries management is important but also the environmental status of the estuarine waters. The latter will have an effect on the adult populations via recruitment. Human activities that directly or indirectly influence the estuary include fishing, agriculture, shipping, saltworks, tourism or aquaculture among others. Conflict among them are common. Estrategias de dinamización turístico cultural: caso de estudio Santiago de Píllaro

This paper analyses the importance of the strategies of cultural tourism dynamization as a contribution to sustainable development in the canton of Santiago de Píllaro. The objective of this article is to propose strategies of tourism-cultural dynamization as part of the economic-social development of the canton for the valorisation of the patrimony and improvement of the tourist facilities in an environment of sustainability. A descriptive investigation was carried out with a quantitative approach through the application of a survey to a significant sample of tourists visiting the canton, and for the analysis of the results was applied Chi square that ruled out the null hypothesis and I accept the study hypothesis. The results determined that this city has come many national tourists in the Diablada Pillareña however the remainder of the year the influx is not significant affecting the tourism development, so from the results obtained was reached Determine (27) strategies.El presente trabajo analiza la importancia de las estrategias de dinamización turístico cultural como un aporte al desarrollo sostenible en del cantón Santiago de Píllaro. El objetivo de este artículo es proponer estrategias de dinamización turístico-cultural como parte del desarrollo económico-social del cantón para la valorización del patrimonio y mejoramiento de las facilidades turísticas en un ambiente de sostenibilidad. Se realizó una investigación descriptiva con un enfoque cuantitativo a través de la aplicación de una encuesta a una muestra significativa de turistas que visitan el cantón, y para el análisis de los resultados se aplicó Chi cuadrado que descarto la hipótesis nula y acepto la hipótesis de estudio. Los resultados determinaron que ha esta ciudad llegan muchos turistas nacionales en la diablada pillareña sin embargo el resto del año la afluencia no es significativa repercutiendo en el desarrollo turístico, por lo cual a partir de los resultados obtenidos se llegó a determinar (27) estrategias
